Mr bill... I have just started using Ableton. I mean, I started doing this electro thing after listening skrillex. I know he uses ableton and by making this ON ableton FOR his sound, you have given me the ultimate walkthrough of this DAW's abilities... I just wanna say, Thanks alot. :)
Any particular reason you're using individual tracks for your drum kit? Is there any advantage to this over using a drum rack? Routing for verb or what??
What is the best way to obtain the knowledge like you have that enables you to know what to do within your synths in order to obtain a desired sound? I imagine when you first listened to the skrillex track you had a good idea of what the synth settings were?
Do you think we could see which sends are being used on which drums? Did you mostly use the reverb sends for the hats and snare/clap channels and then up the sends for the eq/compression as desired for the kick and snare? I've read that compression shouldn't be used on very high freq like hats...
This is really &*#&ing amazing man thank you. A tip that I discovered that can save time on making mulitple doube notch filters is you can copy and paiste each eq (or any plugin) with comman C/V
Racks within racks within racks. Deeper than Inception.
I wonder if Skrillex actually goes through that many steps with each sound in his songs. Regardless, you made a more accurate sounding recreation. Huge thanks!
Good job man, sounds very similar. Is there anyway to use massive instead of zebra2 though? Could you maybe show us how as I'm pretty new to electronic music.
Anyway, I'm off to work through the other parts now, take it easy man.
I cant belive Iv only JUST cum across your channel and I do mean cum lol This is one of the best if not THE best free tutorials I seen on-line.Not just cus I love the track by Skrillex cus I only really like this one and the La Roux one hes done, but because of the depth of all the stuff you dont fully explain but if you know what you are doing you can work it out for yourself. So they may not be so good for absolute beginers but if you know roughly what your doing there GGrrrreeat like Tony says
hey me again i got the demo version.. yeah but if your using the demo will it start like changing the notes that its hitting because idk if i just did that wrong or if its the program so yeah its just making me mad haha
mr. bill you are awesome, and skrillex is awesome, but I'm wondering if he really went through all that to get that sound, you can get that sound on massive by itself I think, maybe i'm trippin......no disrespect, big ups, love your tunes :)
@thafruitbat I also replicated the sound on Massive, however it doesn't have anywhere near the depth that you want it a good track. This method however creates a very broad range of frequencies that Massive often lacks.
@MrBillsTunes the way you swipe across your devices rather than having to go down to that little window everytime is something that i am very interested in obtaining! Thankyou :)
for some reason everytime i get halfway through making the patch, it randomizes the notes so everytime i press a key, it gives me a random note instead. wtf?
ive still got the sound but obviously its annoying when trying to recreate the bassline?
WOW THANKS!! THE BEST DUBSTEP TUT ON UTUBE TODATE FACT!!!! BIG UP PLSS DO ANOTHER ONE MYABE JUST DUBSTEP TRACK NOT IN THE TYP EOF ANY ONE BUT STILL HUUUDGE VIDDS WELL IN
Keep this stuff coming and everybody on YouTube will subscribe to you :)
I would love you to replicate the synth lead/pad that kicks in around 2:14 (on the real track, not the video). That kind of searing synth sound. It's the sound that's sweeping down 2:28, when the breaks hits. Super sweet sound.
hello ... Meanwhile, I congratulate you for having recreated this track but I wanted to ask if you can make a tutorial on the song skrillex cat .. rats .. or at least recreate the sounds!
wow i had no idea ableton was that clever. genius workflow options.... the ability to create parallel racks is way more convenient than never ending aux channels...
@andjustinforall Yeah there's always someone who thinks return channels are a bad idea. The way I think about it is, by the end of a decent sized project one may have 70 to 100 channels, so creating a new instance of equalisers and compressors in racks for all of those channels to do the same thing is a bit harder on your CPU. Also, it's much faster to just turn an encoder up to check if you like the effect rather then create new racks every time also. Just my thoughts on inline vs parallel.
They can design audio but they can't fix the volume of their voice during tutorials wtf.
