Does anyone know if this card would work in older computers with PCI-express? I have a msi k8 neo 4f with an AMD opteron 170 socket 939. I would like to buy the card for another build, but would like to run it in my current setup for the time being.

PCI Express ( PCI x16 ) works backwardscompicable with a PCI x2
If you buy a motherboard and want to change te vidcard next year you can better buy a motherboard with PCI x2 beceause of the new vidCard.
Anyways, its a greaat card but the Sapphire 1gb one looks much better.
512mb Card works fine to ;)
Both can run all the new grapich card.
One tip buy a 500+ watt power supply to be sure your vidcard and power supply works fine togheter =)

i think it would work but you will need min pci-e 1.0 x16

correct me if i am wrong but isn´t your motherboard AGP ? I got the k8t neo 2 and it´s AGP and not PCI-E. but if it is PCI-E x16 you can do it.

guyz if u want to cool ur 4850
the cheapest way is to get a vf-900
cut the mosfet of the stock heatsink and use that to cool the power regulators
