Driving into Atlanta on the Downtown Connector

To give people a better view of what a busy day in Atlanta is like, you should have been filming at 4pm during real Atlanta rush hour. You could have made an hour video and traveled a very short distance. Also, there may be speed limit signs here, but no one pays attention to them. Their for decoration. Many of the police officers won't stop you because if you can drive and aren't swerving, traffic is moving fine. No reason to stop. Slow people have to get out of the way.

DC area traffic is way worse because of a lack of many freeways and freeways that are only 4 lanes wide in congested areas. oh and the drivers here are also much worse. i get it when some are in a hurry but others around here think they can do whatever the hell they want.

That's nothing what you're experiencing in Atlanta. Where I'm moving from, which is California is worst. If that freeway was in Los Angeles, it will be a parking lot that will last for hours. Pedestrians in San Francisco has an attitude and feels that they have the right of way, even though the light is red. Looks like the drive in Atlanta appears to be relaxed and I will be visiting Georgia within couple of months.

Nice video. One correction to your narration. Freedom Parkway was originally going to be I485 not I185. My father was one of the lawyers who sued to stop the road as it was going to plow right through our neighborhood.

Trust me, Atlanta traffic is like heaven compared to traffic in Houston.. At least you don't have to deal with people from different countries who were not properly introduced to American traffic laws. Texas really goes on the notion of "if you can start your car, you can be licensed to drive"..

Watched you video. I use to live in Waycross, Georgia many years ago and had to take trips to see museums and the theater. I now live in New Mexico. I can see that people still ignore traffic laws. You should come to New Mexico and see had bad the people drive.  There are few people here who know how a four way stop works or that you shouldn't change lanes in an intersection.

@millionaireways1 Portland has a larger population inside its limits, but not much larger than Atlanta's. You have to pay attention to the metro areas though. We have 5.5 million in the metro area while Portlantd has 2 million. This is why our highways are so massive and traffic is so bad.

I went there this past Saturday (23May2009) for the 5th time and there was no body out there on the 85 compared to normal traffic.
