  • Sir Frederick Treves doubted the man would ever regain full use of his hand. He said that industrial machines do little more than noise and grabbing at people !

Visitors to an early world's fair saw a huge beam engine at work. While it was actually supplying power to the exhibits, many felt it was just there to try & kill people.

  • Typing my comment on a recent fatal accident here: a pregnant woman was killed when a machine suddenly started up while she was working on cleaning it. The owners now face a court trial. News website would not accept my efforts to register.

Sir Frederick Treves lived at the start of the industrial age. He regarded factory machines as making inordinate noise -and grabbing and pulling workers into the gears ! That morning he had to treat a man whose arm had been mangled by such a machine.

  • very nice machines I need foil attachment

  • @100shows

Pretty late a reply, yet the controls are over a C-shape bar that is also acts as an electromechanical actuated brake to emergency stop the machine. It was atleast the original intent of that design. Some manufacturers do give that safety provision.

  • I've run one that was set up like that. It wasn't too bad.
