Im looking at buying a Yamaha YFZ450 are they reliable like I want a Bike that I can take it out and dont really have to worry about something going wrong but I still want a bike with plenty of grunt so its hard really
@Jaidyn75 get a Honda TRX450 if you want something that will be less likely to break or be a maintenance hog. The YFZ is a great quad with excellent performance, but anything with as high of performance as it has will need more maintenance in general. Any 450 will have tons of grunt. Honda's have proven to be one of the more reliable brands with good quality. Not saying you won't have any problems, but the odds are more in your favor with a Honda.
lmao i have a 2002 yfz450 and its extreme condition and is bad ass i would put it up to any of these newer models and it would keep up with the if not it would smoke them in the the dust all yfz's have the same yz250 motor so all models are really the same.

@MrJordanextreme1 Do more research for a quad that you want that fits your style. The YFZ is a great quad. If I were to do it again I would buy the Honda. I bought the YFZ because it was better looking and had better suspension stock. The engine is more powerful, but less reliable all in all. You won't have to mess with the TRX, but the YFZ will need more attention because it's higher performance. Are you really going to need the extra performance in the end to deal with the higher maintenance?

I had problems - I replaced the whole bottom and part of the top end, oil shavings in oil - new case bearings, crank/rod, OEM cylinder, Venom higher compression piston, added the '07+ oil squirter for oiling the main bearings instead of the crap splash design '06 and earlier, Cometic gaskets, new clutch basket and clutch plates/fibers, main crank gear etc. The starting relay died so I had to use a scrwedriver to short the starter solenoid to get it to start for a while.
@rc8rsracer I sold the quads a long time ago in favor of dirt bikes. Had a 450 dirt bike for a while...SO much faster than the 450 quad. Quads are heavy.

@xMikex732 It WAS my first time riding, but that was over a year ago and I don't even ride quads anymore. Too much powah? Not really, hard to get in trouble with the throttle on the thumb setup. My biggest issue back when I learned was clutch management. And I wasn't alone, that would have been a bad place to be alone though you are right.

I'll admit, yes, I suck in this video. But it was pretty much my first time riding, fist time on a clutched quad, 1st time at an offroad place, etc. You aren't born with the skills you have today, and same goes for this video. I just didn't have a lot of riding experience. Was just out to have fun and thats what I did. I've improved a lot since this video where I putt around mindlessly.
@watzat88 you guys have to remember that the GoPro skews the view of the world with its wide angle. While it does look like there was space in the video, there really wasn't a lot.
Admittedly this was pretty much my first real riding on my YFZ when I bought it so I wasn't too skilled or aggressive. This video is over 6 months old now and I have a lot more time on my YFZ, I just keep the video up since people seem to like to comment on it and its a good example of the new GoPro camera.
@blasterfun I'll get some down the line, I don't race so they aren't really needed right now. Just finished up with the engine rebuild so other mods will be coming soon.

I could weigh 500lbs and that's why I wanted a 450 to haul my fat ass around, or I could weigh 120lbs and have balls bigger than you. I have a 400hp drift car that I throw sideways at 80mph in a drift, I don't think I'm afraid of a 30hp quad that maxes out at 70.

Everyone likes make stupid comments like, "Your going to slow," Usually because they think they are the fastest thing on this planet. But using the front brake more to spin around the rear would probably help ya out in those tight spots ;)
Ride the way you want to, but most importantly, Ride at your own comfortable pace. Its all about having fun!

Girl u need to sell the 450 an get somethin smaller. Like a 300 ex. It has reviers an from the videos that u have it's not like ur gonna notice any less horse power cause u don't go fast at all. Bottom line. The yfz 450 not for you girl.
GoPro makes the camera, I got the motorsports version off their website with the suction cup mount and 3M tape quick release mounts I used on the helmet. Bracket received no damage when I fell on it, doesn't even look to have shifted much in the video afterwards. Great piece of equipment.

But it was pretty much my first time riding, fist time on a clutched quad, 1st time at an offroad place, etc. You aren't born with the skills you have today, and same goes for this video. I just didn't have a lot of riding experience. Was just out to have fun and thats what I did. I've improved a lot since this video where I putt around mindlessly.

@watzat88 you guys have to remember that the GoPro skews the view of the world with its wide angle. While it does look like there was space in the video, there really wasn't a lot.
Admittedly this was pretty much my first real riding on my YFZ when I bought it so I wasn't too skilled or aggressive. This video is over 6 months old now and I have a lot more time on my YFZ, I just keep the video up since people seem to like to comment on it and its a good example of the new GoPro camera.

@kaliguy05 yeah, it is kinda boring. It was my first time riding the YFZ on something other than flat ground after I just bought it. Really wanted to use these videos to try out the GoPro right after I got it, anyway, as you can read in the video's info. The vids keep getting better and better at least the more I ride it :)

I could weigh 500lbs and that's why I wanted a 450 to haul my fat ass around, or I could weigh 120lbs and have balls bigger than you. Just because I don't feel like hauling ass doesn't mean I'm afraid to. I have a 400hp drift car that I throw sideways at 80mph in a drift, I don't think I'm afraid of a 30hp quad that maxes out at 70.

I say ignore all the worthless advice on here. You are doing fine girl ;) . Everyone likes make stupid comments like, "Your going to slow," Usually because they think they are the fastest thing on this planet. But using the front brake more to spin around the rear would probably help ya out in those tight spots ;)
Ride the way you want to, but most importantly, Ride at your own comfortable pace. Its all about having fun!

on the r3 setting (60fps, 1280x720 resolution) I recorded about 1hr of footage that came out to be over 6GB on my 8GB card. HD is a space hog

GoPro makes the camera, I got the motorsports version off their website with the suction cup mount and 3M tape quick release mounts I used on the helmet. Bracket received no damage when I fell on it, doesn't even look to have shifted much in the video afterwards. Great piece of equipment.

yes, utility quads have reverse, but not too many sport quads have it
