@slinginmuzzys308 agree 100%. Nice how Baddeley is featured here, but just won over the week-end after abandoning the snake oil. Best advice on how to improve: work on the short game. That's what separates the good from the excellent, and the excellent from the great.
Actually you are absolutely wrong. Ben Hogan originated the stack and tilt. It is his swing. watch the slow motion of Ben Hogan with Dean Wilson or any Stack and Tilt swinger who does it properly. Ben Hogan had the perfect Stack and Tilt. Also any one that Sean Foley teaches is using the Stack and Tilt, he just doesn't call it the Stack and Tilt but if you watch in instruction it is exactly the same. If you don't believe me read the Aug 23, 2010 New York Times article on it in sports.
@newplanetrecords Did you read or see the S&T video or are you just talking out of your ass?. I read Hogans 5 lessons book and there are very few similarities with the S&T. Hogan wants you to load up on the back leg to get power where as S&T utilizes the front leg, thats just one of many differences. . In fact the S&T book is even more detailed then Hogans book for pointing out crucial details for a proper swing which hogans book misses.
I stack, but I don't tilt. I have to bring my driver back swing wide for a flatter plain. The stack is just the 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock club release. Nothing new.
@BayFlow408 I doubt you read the S&T book or saw the video. Your making know it all assumptions Like many weekend golfers with exaggerated low handicaps.
@jono4813 golf can be approached as a game of individual style or one of geometry. i guarantee you geometry wins outright in the end. stack and tilt is a swing of geometry. it works
I've been a PGA Head Professional for 8 years and have been playing for 30. I wish I had a dollar for every time I played golf with a person that shot 95 when I would have shot 85 if have pitched and putted for them. People only think of their swing. When somebody hits two reasonable shots say 380 yards, 30 yards from a green. I cringe to think what they'll do next. Its not all about the swing.
Question: I am a right-handed golfer who either hits the ball perfectly straight or I block it way left with no hook action. What might this indicate about my swing plane?
@MrWakethesheeple Obviously a ball going to the right in a straight manner with no hooking action means your swing plane is okay coming from the inside but the face is square to the line swinging right. Your swing plane I'd say is okay but the clubface has to be square to the target not square to the line of the swing path at impact.. I like to see the clubface just a hair shut 3/4 into the backswing. Hope this helps.
@ahafan64 not according to the stack and tilt guys. If this golf is hitting it straight left on occassion, then according to the stack and tilt guys, the clubface is closed. I would check your grip first. Check out the charlie rose interview of bennett. But to MrWakethesheeple, check your grip!!!
well done you have just hit the nail on the head golfers should find out what swing woreks for them and go with it,dont matter if it aint pretty what matters is that they can repeat it over and over that breeds consistancy
Talking about Golf grips, When you pick up a golf club your hands are the only part of your body that touch the club. For many years the hands (grip) have often been referred to as the steering wheel of the golf swing. I don’t believe this could be more true. Gripping the golf club correctly makes playing this game a much better experience. w w w (dot) golferbreak80 (dot) c0m
i mean really.. just look at this ad itself. i see no difference between this and sham wow commercials. goofy testimonials (because theyre getting paid) which try to prey on beginner golfers. also it seems that weir has even switched back to his normal swing. apparently the promoters of stack and tilt arent paying him enough to justify him using the "miracle" swing.
stop being ingorant, learn to golf the real way. it's called dedication and hard work. not laziness and quick fixes.
it's pretty clear why stack and tilt would work.. i mean putting most of your weight on the left foot will compact your swing (preventing common overswing) and also get players to hit down on the ball (as opposed to 'hitting the ball up' "). honestly thought, i think it's more of a money making idea (pga pro's obviously getting paid out to use it) that golf newbies will pick up because it "works." also for you believers.. have fun with the added stress on your back/left knees....
...isnt it obvious? i didnt start playing till i was twenty-five. (Tiger). But im an athelete baby, and it just felt right. Loading my left side i mean. Now i do write left handed... and kick left footed, but i throw right. Wrenching your back to get back in position is murder, and unnecessary. Your improved striking will give you all the power you need. I hit a natural fade. Straight up, straight down baby.
Just curious how many of you all using the stack and till push you longs to driver right. I think the stack and tilt promote pushes in the golf swing.
Stack and Tilt works, but it's not really revolutionary. I think the bigger reason why it works is because they tell everyone to swing from around their body and come in on a shallow plane, opposed to the over the top swing many golfers have. Right off the bat, that will fix a lot of things. I've tried the stack and tilt, and if I come over the top i chunk the ball and/or pull it waaaay left. Plus the stack and tilt doesn't feel as fluid to me.
I think a lot if people hit the ball further when they can make solid contact consistently. Which supposedly this system does. A lot of players tend to get way out of sync and mis hit shots.
The S&T method though is the closest teaching method to what Ben Hogans swing was like in my opinion. Hogans arms never leave the left side of his cody in his swing, its all just 1 fluid motion using his whole body. SOmewhat like this method, which is trying to help you better utilize your body rather than your arms.
I went to the driving range using S&T and hit the ball better than ever. Other than coming over the top, what other problems might I encounter using S%T?
@jono4813 Ha there are about 20 PGA pro's using this swing and none have had back surgery as a result. I get a kick out of weekend amateur golfers criticizing a proven PGA tour winning technique. Keep doing what your doing and pretending to be a good amateur while using 5-10 mulligans per round. I bet you shank, dribble, and skull at least 2-3 balls per round.
The average hacker still can't break 100, half a century after Hogan's book. I actually think average players are scoring worse. Perhaps it's time to think outside the box for those of us who lack a conventional swing, body, mechanics and God knows what else.
longer shots comes from lag. getting your body around before the ball is hit. look at bubba his hips are at the target before he hits it, and when they say bottoming out they do not necisairly mean hitting the ground but that your are fully released before you get to the ball. Also like to say that your are supposed to hit up on your driver so then you have reduced spin.
Went out and shot a 78 the first time i tried this. I would have shot a LOT lower if i could have made the five birdie putt's i had from inside ten feet! FUDGE! Lol! But boy it took me about 9 holes to really get into the groove, but once i got it going, I was puring my irons and in complete control. Only problem area was wedge play, but I will get that down. I was hitting a nice low draw, ( normal ball flight before the switch was a mid draw ). It's SO much more simple it's funny.
I will be trying this out on the course today. I was about a 6 handicap a couple of years ago but haven't been able to play much lately. Hit balls a few days ago and SUCKED! Lol! So why not try something new when your current swing is WAY-a-miss! We will see how it goes, it's a very simple swing, thats always a good thing!
Stack and Tilt is not needed for a solid swing. Ben Hogan, arguably the most solid ball strikers ever didn't use it. Tiger Woods didn't. Tiger seems to be doing alright without it.
ur not understanding the stack and tilt.. this method is used to bottom the swing out in the right place.. hogan and tiger already got that worked out using w/e swing they wanna use.
How do we know this? Prove it? In 5 lessons Hogan says he actively transfers his weight onto his right side, as well if you look at a lot of pics of Hogan, in the grid, you can see his head and weight moving to his right. I quite like stack and tilt, however I don't like how they say how Hogan and others tilted left when they clearly did not.
I agree, but in almost all pics of Hogan that I have seen he tilts right at p4. You will have seen his swing in front of the grid, his spine and head travel back to his right hand side. However, snead.......... Logan, I have been working on the pps, especially those under the armpits, going to post a vid over at dana's, have a look if you want.
The thing is though, he never did. Im sure you've heard of how he had that extra spike put into his shoes right? He used that as a focus point to where he applied all the pressure on the inside of his right foot. He then bent his knee in on the same leg which does NOT allow you to get your weight back. he would turn against that foot, creating resistance while all his weight is on his left leg. Thats how he would create so much lag, from all the resistance in his body, and then letting it all go
With the stack and tilt you can have a reverse pivot lose nerly 30 yards and be a bit more accurate however for average golfers the only thing this does is stop them flicking it and help them get a better impact becuase they get a bit of drive through the ball this whole swing is a shortcut to a better ballstrike and plus the best ballstriker on tour is Sergio Garcia and he dosen't use it
i dont see how this works, the whole basis of the golf swing is that from the top of the swing, the hips should draw the club down, which is the weight shift itself!
where is tiger woods now?

Who gives a shit what Ben Hogan did? None of us can swing the club like he can. It's about finding out what works for each person individually.
If people would stop read Hogan's book and start figuring out what works for them, they can begin to score better. But what do I know I'm a hacker?
