I would have thought when these two talented song writers came together it would have been something so great that word can´t explain. This is just something they have been playing around in a studio. Disappointed big time! Just to think the other is in ERASURE and the other in DEPECHE MODE. Is this the result??? Smtings wrong...
Obviously totally euro trance old school minimalism club stuff. Sounds great to me - could fit totally in the Global Underground series alongside Digweed and Darren Emerson.
you can take this anyway you like stop reading all the other stuff into it like its vince clarke and martin gore..end of the day its very strange and not what people would of expected...i think its utter shit
uy hermano por todo se tienen que quejar??? que pensaban que los tipos se iban a juntar para hacer otro Just can't get enough??
I'll hold my reservations about VCMG till the album is released. I have to remember one song does not make an album heh. In any case I hope it turns out to be awesome and that they actually tour.
Q voy ha decir de esta música...yo en la década de los 90 bailaba esta música gracias a depeche mode ahora con casi los 40 me gusta igualmente viva el tecno
I'm big DM fan. I like Erasure too. What can I say? Great sound! I love these synths and dance drums!:D but then it's boring, without melody, without voice..
Martin is so much more talented than this. The genre of minimalism doesn't mean it has to be boring. Great freakin sounds, but any electronic artist could have laid down this track. Be honest...if nobody knew VCMG produced it, most of us would not listen to it more than once.
@DeepSouthPepe we can't appreciate this song because we are DM addicted.. every musician is free to explore new ways of making music... In this case.. Man!! He's M.L. Gore... whatever he does he remains the best songwriter and music producer of the electronic scene...
In some ways I really like this, it is an amazing groove, but I'm still waiting for some type of melody, or some high end synths. Even minimal house has some chirping going on in the top octaves.
look its plain and simple, 13 people disliked this because they were looking for a depeche mode track with dave gaharn singing out of tune. instead they came across a load of different sounds straight out of the pure genious box
what are all of these negative comments about! this sounds great. it's subtle because they're electro geniuses, they don't need to make massive show stopping tunes. this is minimally beautiful.
Has anyone listened to Jesper Kyd's track The Joker from a Sega Genesis video game The Adventures of Batman and Robin (1994). Starting from 2.33 this track starts sounding just the same.
@Miracle010181 That's because its the same hackneyed phrasing of subsequent note intervals used in all raves. The first half of this sounds like a Martin Gore DJ set, (minus dropped beat) and the second part sounded like modern rave music complete with Gap Band-esque "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" transition sound at 2:23.
disappointed with a few comments, but perhaps some viewers who do not know nor appreciate the crispness of analogue and are set into MIDI or something?
the crackle of the cables must have purposely taken the lads back to '79
sweet yet more advanced than what gets put out by others today.
the best part is they reunited
so even if it is (possibly) a singular project, be happy!
for we reap the reward by traveling through a time continuum with 2 of the best composers in the last 30+ years
Dave Gahan on some vocals (whatever they are), and Andy Fletcher on synths the way he's always done, and the classic Depeche Mode reunion is possible. Is that too much to ask?
Hmm... been really looking forward to these two masters getting back together.. but sounds very 'Nitzer Ebbish'... ????? but still.. might grow on me... (like poison ivy) lol
Hmm... been really looking forward to these two masters getting back together.. but sounds very 'Nitzer Ebbish'... ????? but still.. might grow on me... (like poison ivy) lol
It is a far cry from other works the two have done, this is true. However Vince said that he had gotten into more minimal sounds and this is that for it's genre it's decent. Also keep in mind this is the first time out for them in this genre give em a few and I think they will go far in this.
I listen to techno when I go out on saturdays and DM is my favorite band (that's how I got here) and I can say that this peace is great music, I 'd love it even without Martin and Vince! They are true genius
@claudinevw I've never responded to anything anyone has ever written on YouTube but words (and more importantly melody) ARE what make VC and MG genius. As has been said, this track can be made using GarageBand. I don't hate it but when I initially got excited by this project I had much higher hopes.
I agree, it isn't anything special. However, it is cool that both of them decided to collaborate. They are both extremely talented and put out great songs in their respective bands. Not sure what this is all about musically....? Vince and Andy Erasure equals awesome. Martin's lyrics and Dave Gahan equals amazing Depeche Mode action. This is kinda a fail oh well.
You do realize that Vince contacted Martin on the premise that this would be a techno inspired album, right people? I understand how disappointing that may seem, considering the caliber of these two artists, but that's what they wanted to try and so there will be no "songs" where Martin will be singing, although that would've been amazing!
I don't hate this by any means but you have arguably 2 of the greatest songwriters of all time making an instrumental track. Will there be any "songs" on the album?
@clearviewmind Piece of piss. What I was saying was, here are 2 top-notch electro wizards. and this is all they come up with!! I aint in2 composing music, but my brother is and can come up with something with more substance than this. This is an average peice of music. I just expected something with a bit more vigor or umph!
Endlich mal wieder Techno wie er früher war - intelligent, minimalistisch - tanzbar ! Ohne blöde Frauenvocalsamples, ohne Halb-rap-einlagen - einfach gut, weiter so Gore and Clarke !!!
Imagine if Vince and Martin play at Ultra Music Fest this year? That would be pretty sweet. I like this track a lot but I hope there are some vocal tracks on the new release.
would have been groundbreaking in the mid 90s, but still kicks.
