Damnit Sega. I know the Wii and PS2 can't handle the graphics, but there's no reason why it couldn't have handled the levels themselves. Why, instead of splitting the levels between the two versions, you just have them all in one version and adjust the graphics later?

Well there were some sloppy levels, but they're both actually badass. I got the wii version and 360 so I've played both sides of the story. I guess you could say the 360/PS3 is a bit better since it had the hedgehog engine being used at its best x:

This game simply has some of the best graphics known to man, and this stage shows them off to the fullest. Also, Sonic has never really run at the speed of sound before this game, it always looked like he was going to slow before Unleashed.

The Holoska Day song is my favorite from this game. And I really think that SEGA shoulda just stuck to the snowboard like most previous Sonic games with an ice/snow stage. That bobsled is SLOW.

Sonic 2= 80% speed and 20% platforming

Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles= 70% speed and 30% platforming

the thing I sometimes do find annoying about this game is the fact that frustration forces you to want to just spam the boost button and GTFO!

and for the record the adventure series did have a speed focus, but it also had a nessesary fun/danger factor.

Ice stages are almost always epic in sonic games, except for ice paradise.

SA2 was one of the biggest wastes of tine in history. Sure, it had some tiny cool aspects, but like SA1 it forgot what Sonic is truly about. I'll give you a hint. See: SPEED.

Sonic is not all about speed. The games were never built for that. It was a momentum-based platformer that offered speed as a reward for good gameplay. Nowadays the modern Sonics seem to nix that idea and build mediocre games that are about mindless speed and no gameplay. Anyone who knew the Sonic games would know that. This game, has a storykline, but unlike in SA1 and 2 Sonic goes fast. That's why it's cool and SA1 and 2, well, suck.

Let me talk to you for a second. Speed isnt everything in a Sonic game. Look at Sonic Advance 2+, Sonic Rush. They were built for nothing but speed, but seemed unplayable. All you did was hold Right. It wasnt fun, it was nothing more watching Sonic run and occasionally press a jump button. That was it.

Speed should be meant as a reward. The game was built as a platformer first, racer second. I happen to know the Sonic games quite well. Still have a Megadrive.

Sonic 06 was not THAT bad, all they needed to do was focus a bit more on the stages, and fix a very large amount of glitches. For example, on my copy when I had it, if you stopped when upside down on a loop, you stood upside down.

On topic here, I have no major qualms about Unleashed, save for Werehog, which feels much too clunky. It has great potential, it just needs to space those missions out more, and put in a few more day than night stages.

SA1 and SA2 forgot about speed??. I really don´t agree. First of all, SA1 has sections with really high speed (do you think that Windy Valley and Speed Highway are slow?), the same in many stages of SA2 (too much slow Eggman/Tails, that´s true). On the other hand, Sonic 1. the original one, has the slowest stage of all time...Marble Zone and let´s not talk about Labyrinth... and you think SA1 forgot about speed? come on... have you played SA1 on a 386 or what?

SA2 was garbage. This game may have had some "short" levels (I completely disagree with that) but the levels had something that the Sonic games lacked since the Dreamcast days. The very essence of Sonic himself. Speed. With Unleashed, we finally get to see Sonic go fast again. Plus there was like only one warehog level to two or three speed levels, so it really didn't bother me too much. This game > SA2 and 1. Dont listen to the haters, everyone! Unleashed is awesome!
