  • great review

  • he sounds lyk that skinny guy from big bang LOLOL! XD

  • this laptop has sobwoofer??

  • no....the keyboard is not backlit but its CHICLET.... this means the keys are set in an island style format...

  • Is the keyboard Backlit?

  • @Hypotenuse5 A backlit keyboard can be added since the motherboard has a 4 pin ribbon cable socket, (The backlit keyboard has an extra ribbon cable!) but the the unit also has to be flashed with some software to enable it to work!

Keyboard brightness is controlled by using Fn with F3 & F4 on the new keyboard.

  • dell xps15 is better, right ?

  • @henrivesi depends on the specs

  • @wintez

i already ordered the xps15 with the i7, gt 435m 2GB and 6GB of ram

  • not a review and not helpful thanks for nothing

  • Thanks for not including any relevant information.

  • At Amazon.com this laptop costs only $899.99 so, it's a very good price!, paid for my Asus laptop $1600 three years ago and is the half of this one.

  • Try Sniper II ( Ghost Warior) and let me know if it works .

  • Express card what is that for?

  • @clavdy It is an expansion slot for Pcie express. so you can put an internal sound card or tv tuner or other add on card.

  • @KlingonSpider ..Nice!! thanks a lot!!!

  • very verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sexy

  • sexy laptop

  • 0:00 that's what i call blowing smoke out of your ass. lol

  • hows the audio quality of ASUS N61JQ-B2... I saw its available on the site.

  • @yourpalcliffy I dont know about N61JQ-B2, but N61JQ-A1 sound is not that good IMO. However, the output from the headset plug is good enough even with a $10 headphones.

  • hey pls tell me ... does it make a difference due to lack of 1080p support, if I play 1080p will it render smoothly ??

  • where csn i find the asus nvidia optimus test tool widget on n61jv? id like to know if my nvidia is on or off...

  • wow nd thats what u call indepth review :D

  • 3-D p0rn

  • this computer is horrible compared to the HP Pavilion DV7-4017. asus has alot of problems with the updates and gets hot if you play games on a laptop.

  • @Cloakedsphere and hp doesn't lol

  • @Cloakedsphere the only place where the hp is better is the display. The asus is better in every other aspect. And hp's are really badly made

  • would you recommend this for college?

  • @redart912 I would say yes. I am Solidworks and adobe user, the laptop run the programs smoothly. Matlab and maple work without any trouble at all. The fan will gets hot if you use it under heavy load, however, the keyboard and the rest will only warm up a little bit, which means the fan works properly.

  • @paapiipuu thanks a lot man!

  • Comment removed

  • @redart912 you are welcome!

  • @paapiipuu it should warm up .. laptops get hot due to their form factor .. the very limited air suspension in the device itself ..

  • @zeusstar23 read my comment carefully,I said it does warm up a little bit.

  • @redart912 hells to the yes lol its an absolutely amazing laptop, very snappy, good battery, good for travel, all around great!!

  • I cant hear you.

  • I just got myself one of these bad boys a week ago. It's a beast, lightweight and portable, but powerful enough to throw anything at it.

  • I have one of these computers and I absolutely love it. The only downside is the rather ordinary battery life but I usually just plug it in so it isn't much of a problem to me. I have had it for 6 months now and I have had no problems. It is soooo quick ! I am glad I let my gaming son pick it :)

  • are u able to put this laptop onto a dock sorta thing where u can hook it upto a separate screen, keyboard n mouse, speakers etc without the laptop being open?

  • Asus N61 اول جهاز فى العالم يدعم تقنيه Usb 3

  • italianbroker1, you do realise that 32F is 0c therefore you'd assume that when he was measuring the temp of the metallic panel below the screen, which was reading 22 degrees, that it had to be celcius because if it were in F then were talking -5c and I really don't think it'd be THAT cold.

  • Asus N61Jq aldım keşke intel core i5 işlemcili Toshiba alsaydım...

  • I am about to get this laptop but I hate the look of all the stickers... do they come off easy without leaving marks?

Also, is it a good laptop for video/audio editing? And is the fact that it doesn't have a back lit keyboard an issue? I was considering a Dell studio but I ended up choosing this one... I hope I made the right choice...

  • @rad211090 yes its a really good laptop to do things like photoshop and video editing, also has amazing graphics

to get rid of the sticky shit on it use light fluid !

  • does anybody know if the sticker on the palm rest, (the one that says the specs and stuff) comes off without leaving marks?

  • @vetonRadoni It does not leave any mark.

  • was the temp in celcius? because it looked like it had the degree celcius on it

  • AMG dandruff! (useless comment)

  • Does the CPU have any thermal paste?

  • was going to get an x1 until i found a store close by has the a1. glad i did too, for $50 extra you get a bigger hdd and a 2 year warranty, most sites want $70 for an extra year of warranty for the x1, plus the $15 saved on s&h

  • @MykesterMachinima how much was it?

  • @TehMaster4life

    $1099 here in Canada

  • main problem with this laptop is the screen doubles up as a very good mirror so cannot play in bright light

  • Is thisone brown or black? looks very attractive in brown imo.

  • @jNewbbie4 This laptop is only available in brown as far as I know. It's just really dark and the only way to tell its brown is when its under direct light.

  • @Inf1ct i have one of these in black but am in uk so it might be different

  • Don't know whether to get this or the MSI E7405-080US. The MSI has a down right beastly video card... But since its very new I don't know whether its reliable yet.

  • talk louder

  • He was saying ahhh in the middle

  • why you said multi touch as multia touch?

  • any chance you could post a site that has 9-cell or 12-cell batteries that fit this coomputer? i just ordered it but i need a longer battery life. i dont know which battery would fit

  • Just got this laptop, sadly, the speakers ain't loud (I've maxed it yet I couldn't hear this guy talking) and there isn't display for Caps lock or scroll lock, only Num lock is displayed though.

But it's performance is definitely worth it price..

  • does win 7 come pre-installed or do we have to do some initial setup. i would like to know if its plug and play right out of the box. and also how is the battery life on this. 2.5hr???

    thanks

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card?

  • very very nice machine

  • Beautiful; Do want!

  • wat are the speakers like?

  • i have the same with i5 420 cpu

  • It looks EXACTLY like my Compal N-30N3 from 2001...but I am sure it is at least 100x faster.

  • @AspireAS5920 lol 2001? i reckon its 1000 times faster, not 100

  • is this much better than NV61jv-x2? regardless of Core i7.

  • Any N61JQ owners that having the peeling palm rest problem?

  • @antonioreyes1987

Mine peels a bit at the edges of the main body

  • Is it serious? Is it the plastic overlay on the inside?

  • Comment removed

  • I wish Asus wouldn't put soo many stickers on their latops. I took all of mine off and left the intel, ati and windows 7 stickers on.

  • How much does this Weigh ?

& whats the Battery life like ?

    Thanks

  • @ilordvader Weight: 6.5 lbs / 2.95kg, duno about the battery m8 :(

  • @sebwebster

    Thanks Bro

    Any issues on it

Is it worth buying looking for lightweight gaming laptop :)

  • @ilordvader battery life is awesome long lasting iv got this latop

  • @chibai123654987

    How long it can lasts?

  • I hear that the keyboard is utter crap ... .is that the case ? I need to type like whirlwind on a notebook... don't know if to get this one cause of the keyboard ... can you enlighten me with an honest opinion ?

  • @fistofpeanuts I have the N61JQ-X1 model, but I am fine with my model's chiclet keyboard. The keys are a little small, and there's no backlight but still I have no trouble gaming/typing with it.

  • how many ram slots does this have???

  • no white for american market... it is only released in asian market

  • @physics77guy

How do you know there are no ceramic white N61JQ in US market? Any reliable source?

  • coz i talked with asus and they said white is not for US market, coz i also wanted to buy white.... but after that i bought the brown one asusn61jq-a1

  • @physics77guy

OIC. I'm interested on buying the white one too but now I have to make up my mind whether I want to buy the brown color one. Tough decision for me.

  • that was my problem too but they only have one color for it in US and that is brown, so i decided against the color and bought the brown one coz the notebook is so cool and its awesome, the voice is so great and top of the line processor.

  • This is a great laptop and I'm thinking of buying it but I just wanna kno what power2go is.... Someone help?

  • I'm wondering when the ceramic white Asus N61JQ will be released to the market?

  • speak up!

  • if you get closer on the left, you will read 50 not jost 40, i think. Also i couldn't see properly inside, isn't difficult to put an extra memory? Thanks.

  • Man that's tempting to get it in June but my budget is a bit tight that month ;(

  • I got the same laptop!

  • @SteelCity1981 how do you like it?

  • @mikej5337 It's a really nice pc, but the battery life on it is not that good due to the Core i7 quad core, but I really didn't expect anything diff with this processor. The only real issues i have with it that did surprise me was the heat of this processo. It runs hot even when it's not doing anything it's running 50-55c and under load it runs 70-75c. and this processor is on 45nm too! Gaming is good the ATI radeon 5730 does it's jub, it's equal to a Radeon 5650 on a desktop card.

  • @SteelCity1981 so how are u dealing with heating issues mate, coz I really want to have this laptop but Im unsure about heating. If I buy it should be fine when Im using is overnights with playing demanding games like crysis...

  • @armaniper It should be ok as long as you have good air flow running it in a cool place that has a/c. it will prob spike around 75- 80c playing games but the max TDP for this cpu is 100c. It's a hot cpu it reminds me of the old pentuim 4 prescott cpu's.

  • does this laptop have overheating problems?

  • should i get this laptop or this rig: AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.2 OC to 3.8 ghz Corsair XMS3 4gb ddr3 1600 msi nf750-g55 am3 mobo gemini II sleeve cpu cooler GTS 250 1gb 256 bit ddr3 Thermaltake tough power 750w apevia secc HTPC case WD caviar black 640gb 7200rpm ceramique cpu paste scythe four fan controller (x2) whole bunch of fans Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
  • that rig is better but both are quad procesors so when one is outdated both are outdated. when games that use 8 cores come you won't be able to run on neither sysem. but you can always upgrade your rig and laptop you gotta buy new.but count on that, that this laptop will run all games fluently for next 4 years at least. (last year you will need to lower the eye candys but it will run great on that resolution.) and i think you can save some money for new laptop in 4 years

  • thanks! great reply! i will pull trigger on lappy! ability to go anywhere with the power is nice!

do you have one of these dominic?

  • @Dominic0403 That's not going to be for a longgggggg time. Not to mention they never design new gamess for the highest end models, they always find a sweet spot between old and new to accommodate the largest audience.

  • Not available on NewEgg and Amazon says it's you have to preorder it. When is this going to be available?

  • great review

  • Thanks for the detailed video. Just for future reference, you might want to turn up the volume. It's really hard to hear what your saying even with my volume all the way up. Anyway, I'm thinking of purchasing and my only hesitation is no firewire. (I want it partly for audio recording) Thanks again!

  • @greenrolaids

De flesta datorer körs på 1366x768 nu för tiden

  • This is a one ugly monster laptop. I can't use it for work environment. But for gamers it's perfect laptop.

  • awsome man. Thinking of getting one this September hell it just might replace my desktop quad core rig and its a old quad core pc 3 yrs old lol.

  • Hey thanks for showing the inside of this laptop, I like knowing whats on the inside before I buy. ! nice video!

  • Can I use any USB device with the USB 3.0 port?

  • @CDriveC Yes

  • Ive been undecided whether to purchase the n61jq or the k52jr-a1 (no reviews for k52)

Assuming that n61jq-a1 and n61jq-x1 are essentially the same except for warranty and disk space. (320gb vs 500gb... dont nearly need that much anyway.) I was wondering if there were any Heating Issues, will I be able to not damage the equipment even playing high demand games for x hours straight?

  • sweet review, am actually going to be buying this from you guys fairly soon, I currently own a fairly good I7 920 @ 4ghz gaming rig gtx 260 sli ect..it will be great to carry around this type performance around with me, and for the price you cant go wrong :)

  • Great review :)

  • Doesn't this have Power4Gear? Or is the GPU taking too much battery?

  • Comment removed

  • really tempting!!, was planning to in for a dell studio xps 16 core i7,but decided not to because of all the reported problems. If ur hesitating to buy this because of the screen, then don't even worry, it's much better than on paper, and also the lower resolution allows u to run games on higher settings. Definite buy.

  • Or just wait for the N71Jq to be released (for better resolution), obviously it'll cost more though.

Nearly bought the xps 16 myself. Other than for the RGBLED screen, I couldn't justify the cost. Only bad thing I have to say about this laptop is the battery life sucks - can we upgrade?

  • I have a laptop with the same resolution as this, and it's definitely not nearly as bad as I thought. Such great specs for a $1K laptop, it's an amazing deal.
