That was great to see an Team Match! Was fun too watch! Stockton 99ers from California, Joe Reyes 99A, Charles Pearson "KID" 99B (my grandpa), RB Pearson 99C (RIP), John Camp and a couple others! There LEGENDS in the U.S. And concidered best Team! Lose like 1 out of 100 Demolition Derby races! But, they ran during the 80's! You can google Joe Reyes 99A?!? He often run still...
There are 8 teams per night. Each race consists of 4 on 4. The goal is to get 1 car to complete 5 laps around the tires. The other cars can do everything in their power to block for their team mates and take out the other team in the process. The winning team advances on in the bracket. They have to win 3 races in a night be the Champion of that event.
@dreadnaught6399 eight teams and they compettet for pinots who ever has the most points out of all the team when the season is over that team wins the championship
@crackard420 Run em open wide. No mud. Try sprintcars with thick steel bumpers, reinforced concreate walls and full contact. Thats how we do it down here. "Teams champs greatest hits" watch it!
This is not a normal demo derby. Basically two teams on the track with 4 cars each. First team to have a car collect 5 laps wins the round. 8 teams...single elimination tournament...so as a team you could go 3 rounds in a night and need 12 cars. Big track and it is not uncommon for some of these cars to have 500hp plus...so some huge hits.
Very limited welding...only a few model cars not allowed...like Imperials, some full frame lincolns and caddies. Pretty much everything else goes. Most teams drop in high powered engines...lock the diff...chain up the front ends so when they crush they fold up. If you really want to know...go to this forum and ask...few drivers post there:
whats the payout to win one of these team derbies? seems like it would cost a lot with all of those cars...and you could use them to run in 5 other derbies.
Not 100% certain on this, but I think this is the breakdown:
Final Round Winner: $7,000
Final Round Loser: $5,500
Semi-Final loser: $4,500
First Round Loser: $3,300
A guaranteed $3000 is a lot better looking, and better odds to win, than 5 county-fair derbies. Could wasted $1,000 in entry fees and get back maybe that or even less.
wow thats a great pay...i'd hate to have to drive all the way out there from sw ohio though. The only derbies we go to, are our local county fair which pays $2k, and the bigger $10k derbys..theres about 6 a year within 2 hours drive
it would be more enjoyable if there were more ford
