in order to get canswer from PVC you wold hvae to be exposed to PVC fro at least a few years, adn the toxic gases wont hurt you unless you put you head IN a bag made of PVC and took big breaths...good god! if PVC is poison why do you think the stores and even ALLOWED to sell it?!?? well, in fact the smell is not because of the degradation of the curtain, the curtain smells when its new because of the toxic additives that are needed to create the curtain that are off-gassing

PVC isn't the only poison plastic. The only ones that are actually safe are the ones with recycling numbers 1,2,4 and 5. The rest are deadly.

All right, PVC sucks, but you know why we make so much of it? The C stands for chlorine, that is a by product of the sodium industry, and we dont use as much chlorine as we use sodium. chlorine is a highly toxic gas that just cant be thrown in the air, so people decided to make plastic with it. To make a proper disposal of all that chlorine would make things that use sodium more expensive. And that´s a lot of things... It just sucks to get cancer for high consumption rates. Think globally!
