my 1911 is the best gun i have ever had i shot maybe 1000 round threw it and have not had one misfire or malfunction i like it cause it looks and feels like a gun not like a toy in your hands i.e glock
@davedave3417 Only silly people say such things. Why does it matter if it looks like a toy when a bullet coming out of the barrel will kill you just as dead as a bullet coming out of a 1911's barrel?
@esh325 "because its how it feels in your hand that matters to me" It doesn't matter how it feels as long as you can connect to the target consistently and accurate, and if somebody can't do that with a Glock, then they are doing something wrong.
I love my Colt 1911. Went through 200 rounds as fast as I could without any failures or jams. it's truly a masterpiece, and its ofcourse my favorite pistol. But pistols like the Glocks and other "new" designs are superior in many ways. For an example try shooting a 1911 under water... or with a dirty barrel. I love the 1911 but its more nostalgia then anything.
This video popped up on my front page when I logged on to you-tube today. When I saw the title I clicked on it so I could come in here and tear your asshole out in print. Thankfully there's no need. It's the only pistol designed 100 years ago that is still relevant and useful in both modern warfare and civilian self defense. That's a huge statement on the quality of it's design. I use the 1911 and it's clones and it's STILL a world class pistol and any one who says otherwise is a fucking moron.
Of course it's outdated, it's one hundred years old. I don't know many cars or planes that were made one hundred years ago that can compete with their modern day counterparts.
@PinkyPurply Car performance and firing a bullet through a tube are two different worlds. The 1911 design still being able to fire a bullet through someone 100 years later is nothing to brag about. I could brag about the 8 shot .357 magnum revolvers because they eat whatever you feed them, hold just as much ammo and you can fire .38 or .357 out of them all without wondering if it will lock up on you due to hollowpoints. The 1911 is like Chuck Norris, an old has been with supernatual hype.
@PinkyPurply Agreed Brother.Glock has revolutionized the modern firearms world.I have taught one time a mother and daughter in 2 days time the basic handling of a Glock 19,I was surprised on how easy it is to teach non shooters to become experienced shooter level.
I personally own a Colt 80 series 1911 and it is by far my favorite pistol I own. I absolutly love the history and reliability of the gun and I totally agree with everthing said in this video!
@tumortim666 The Glock is still a Browning design, just look at it,slide, tilting barrel, recoil spring design, ramped barrel. The internal firing pin came from the Colt 1903 which is a Browning design too. Good opinion Brother . Browning still influences Glock by its design .....
@reddevilparatrooper By that logic the Mauser design is a Sergei Mosin design, because they use similar technology. Why didn't browning continue to make striker-fired guns? because he couldn't make good ones. And just because the Glock uses _some_ similar features doesn't make it a Browning design. And that's not really related to what I said. I just said that older guns are inferior for the most part, because new metallurgy and new plastics allow us to make lighter, better guns.
Yes the 1911 is outdated in some ways but, is still an outstanding choice for a handgun. No I’m not an old 1911 is the only real gun kind of guy, I own S&W’s, Glock’s, an M9 and several others. For all the guys that feel it has past its prime I would say look at what it has been used for and the design basics that have been used in more modern guns, it may surprise you to see part of it in your new gun.
i know its not a true 1911, but i finally got to shoot my cz-85b today and im very happy with the test results considering Ive only shot rifles before. I bought it for its design and reliablablity.
BTW, you don't sound like someone whose life has depended on their firearm ever. Were you ever in the military? As for myself, I am a USMC veteran and former range safety officer/ NCOIC/ combat marksmanship coach. Their are reasons why we have the weapons that we do and there is room for improvement. However, the improvement would be from the m9 to the glock, not from the m9 to the 1911.
@dlstb I'm sure there are Veterans who prefer the 1911. As far needing one shot, there are plenty of people who have survived .45 acp's and 9mms. No magical one shot stop caliber. I think 9mm is a better caliber. I agree that there are better firearms then 1911's these days. I think the Glock is a fine choice, but for ergonomics and trigger pull, the Glock is lacking some what.
You sound like a whining little bitch. I just wanted to let you know that.
We don't use the 1911 anymore because they now produce far superior designs. For example, while the.45 is a great caliber, it is hard to make one that can hold enough rounds in the magazine to win a firefight without the need to reload. And if your comeback is that the .45 only needs one shot to kill as opposed to the 9mm, well... let's go test that. Go shoot yourself in the chest with a 9mm and see how long you live.
@dlstb The FNP45 holds 15 rounds of .45 acp. I think the lack of capacity statement is an old argument now. Granted. a 15 round .45 acp will be much larger in grip then a 9mm holding 15 9mm's. I suppose for most civilian users, they probably don't need the extra rounds perhaps. Police and military might be a different story though. In many police shoot outs, they expend a lot more then seven rounds to end an argument, even if it's .45 acp.
@esh325 You bring up a good point about the .45's that can hold 15 rounds. And that point is that none of them are model 1911's. I've shot one of those FNP45's and it was a good gun. I just happened to be at the range at the right time and a guy wanted me to try it. BUT, it is heavier, doesn't conceal as easily, bullets cost more, and costs 2x what a decent 9mm of the same quality costs.
Sidenote, I had a SSGT who was so convinced the 9mm couldn't kill that he often flagged us with his.
@esh325 That SSGT was a total freaking jackass and should have been kicked out for his daily BS. Bottom line though, the 1911 is a good target or self defense gun. But it isn't a gun to go to battle with anymore. But, I'd take a rifle, not a pistol into combat, no matter what caliber. A .22 rifle is easier to aim at 100 + yards than the best .45 pistol money can buy. And no one wants to get shot. Not even by a .22.
@dlstb He does sound like a moron. A .22 rifle is easier to shoot at 100 yards with, but you can't conceal or put a .22 rifle in a holster. I have shot many 1911's and I agree there are better choices these days.
the 1911 is like the AK-47, as in they are timeless. they've been with us for years and will continue to be, as they can always live up to modern standards, and accept modern hardware.
@esh325 And by that standard you might as well use a .22 because in a self defence situation we are going to be able to get every single shot on target
@Cartoon357Mag A .22 doesn't penetrate that well, especially the hollow points. Of course it can still kill you though, just not as well as a 9mm or .45 acp.
.45 ACP is a slower bigger bullet with more damage, but the 9mm seems to be about 200f/s faster with not much less penetration and permanent cavity damage.
@MadeInOregon27 Seen it. You don't know if he was using a 9mm or not. Even if it was, I already you two examples of people surviving .45 acps and fighting still. It does hold some truth that all pistol rounds are underpowered.
@esh325 I'm basing my information off of years of my own research & talking with LEO's, Military personal and shooters of all kinds. Feel free to look at the ballistics of cartilage damage, stopping power and bullet penetration between them. 9mm < .45 ACP
@MadeInOregon27 If it was #1 then everybody would be using 1911's and there wouldn't be any other pistols besides 1911's. There's no such thing as a do it all pistol that will fit everybody's needs. I
@esh325 That makes no sense, even when something is #1 that doesn't mean everybody in the world goes and gets one. Does everyone drive a Bugatti? 100year old desighn that's still used = #1 IMO.
@MadeInOregon27 What makes a 1911 so special that everybody can't have one? It's a myth that it's a prohibitively expensive pistol to make or buy. So don't use that reason. Everybody and their brother knows about the 1911. All the police or military agencies that chose not to use the 1911 had their own valid reasons. They weren't stupid or inexperienced.
@esh325 I'm part of a 1911 forum, LEO use glocks and S&W because they produce LOTS of them to train with. And FYI allot of them CC 1911's. My S&W 1911 E-Series was 750$ BNIB. That's not even that expensive. It's also slim/slender and feels like a 9mm in my hand.
@MadeInOregon27 If Law enforcement prefered mostly 1911's then why isn't S&W producing 1911's in large numbers? Instead, they are just producing small quantities of race gun 1911's like the E series. It would be cheaper then 750$ if they didn't bother with all the fine tuning they put on 1911's these days. The new Ruger SR1911 are priced very closely to a Glock.
You're putting words in my mouth that I never said man... Nobody said they "preferd" 1911's... I said allot of them carry a 1911. Ive spoken with more than a few on 1911forum. My step father is also a cop, so I know first hand. Do you? I guess after you see storys about how intruders/criminals take 9mm bullets like nothing and keep going, you naturally want more man stopping power.
@MadeInOregon27 The 1911 isn't the only gun chambered in .45 acp these days. They make the Glock 21 and plethora of others in that caliber. Those stories exist for .45 acp too.
@MadeInOregon27 "Resistance to Gunfire Mettinger absorbed nine rounds from Borders' .45—six of which hit him in the torso and two more of which literally severed his right foot—without any significant effect on his fighting ability. This would have been remarkable even if Officer Borders had been firing marginally effective rounds, but he was using .45 caliber Gold Dot ammunition, which is considered by many to be the best man-stopper on the market"
@MadeInOregon27 So I think its safe to say the demand for 1911's is relatively low for military and law enforcement agencies in the US and worldwide compared to other pistols.
@esh325 LEO use cheap guns..... because they produce ALLOT of them and fuck allot of them up. what don't you get about that? lol... I know allot of cops/military that CC 1911's. They are the smart ones :)
@MadeInOregon27 And look up the video "Officer Jared Reston talks about when he was shot" He took multiple hits of .45 acp and still was able to fight. So trying to bring up these stories about people taking multiple shots of 9mm mean squat. Those same stories are out there for .45 acp if you aren't of selective hearing.
1911 may be outdated...but theirs a reason theyre still makin em....and they havent changed a thing....doubt glock or anybody else could consistantly sell the same exact product and continue to manufacture it for over 100 years.....yes over 100 years got the name 1911 is cuz it was when it was put into service
Is it necessary to call people faggots? You put up a Glock and then say "lowest common denominator"...then add that annotation of "women and European men"? The 1911 is not the "only" gun out there; just as with people who believe Glocks are the "only" gun there is. But you essentially refer to people as being incompetent when they use something other than a 1911. Sounds to me like you are an angry white male who perhaps should not be owning guns. Have a nice day sir.
some like diamonds others like yourself prefer cubic zirconia. We dont insult your choice to buy what you can afford. Why insult our choice to buy the best? 1911 all the way to the bank.
Shit the 1911 isn't outdated at all, all modern handguns derive from the 1911, I'm 19 and I own a kimber 1911 (dad got it for me but I paid for it) it's the best handgun ever made, I own a XD as well and it feels like a bb gun. Never getting a polymer pistol again till they start making em better
@mst3k4evur Without looking it up, I May be wrong, But chances are that some defence department somewhere asked him (J.B.) to design a 9mm pistol ! They are very similar except that the Hi Power has an external extractor!
@mst3k4evur bozo - so Lear makes the Learjet 23 and the Learjet 60 to capture more market. Does this mean that the 23 is outdated? He made a different gun, because it would not make sense to make the same one again - bozo.
@Ar15snhappy A glock with Wolf extended slide, barrel and accuracy mods hits consistently within 3.25 inches at 25 yards. Such is Wolf's claims. Good by any Glock claims. A 1911 that cant hit under 2 inches at 25y is looked at as if something is wrong with it. Most decent ones are within 1.25 inches. Granted - in a room , wall to wall, it makes no difference.
You can argue all day that the bore axis is higher than ___ or it's got more parts than ___, or like me you just don't like the back of your grip to move. At the end of the day the 1911 continues to serve people well.
If you -need- 16 cartridges in a home-defense gun to feel safe, If you feel the need to argue/brag about how you carry a striker fired gun made with NASA plastic, or you feel the need to hate anything not made 6 months ago the answer is simple.
@IcabodCrane In some respects, I would call it antiquated. That doesn't mean it's a bad pistol or can't serve people well today though. One can't overlook the advantages some of the newer pistol designs have though. If you're an armorer, the Glock is going to be easier to service then a 1911. Perhaps you might not that many for home defense, I don't know how many is enough. I've never shot at anybody. In many police gun battles, they expend a lot more then seven rounds to settle a confrontation,
Now to call the Mauser or the 1911 in some ways antiquated would be correct...both are old designs. Mosin Nagants are also old and are still used by Finland in the Tkiv 85, as well as by other nations and especially terrorists whom also use PSL's of the same caliber. As for Glocks being easier to service I wouldn't doubt it but I'm not a fan of the large tolerances which have proven to cause kabooms due to false chamberings. This is primarily due to not cleaning them, but I'm not a fan.
@IcabodCrane Terrorists only use them out of the fact that they have nothing else. While it probably serves the Finns well, I imagine they take old rifles and modify for cost savings. Newer actions are most likely more accurate and stronger. I don't think the Mosin Nagant could handle magnum cartridges favored by some Snipers. The Kabooms are mostly from reloads.
As much as I hate to say it because it gives the 1911 fans even more propaganda for their "the 1911 is the best gun ever made and has no flaws" bullcrap...it is not outdated. To be outdated or obsolete would be to point out a design that has completely and utterly made something too old fashioned to be as adequate.
Just as the Mauser 98; though other designs have been put out with various differences, there hasn't been a gun that makes it old news, just various differences that others prefer.
@IcabodCrane I see the Mauser action in many hunting rifle incarnations, but I can't really find any modern bolt action that's a Mauser action that a military issues today.
The main reason for that is due to the high costs it would entail. A Mauser from the actual company now (new ones) actually cost around 3000 dollars, though my conversion from Euros/Pounds could be wrong. It's cheaper to braise on bolts and handles, and the control feed is also a very expensive addition to the design.
Primary example: The US still uses direct impingement M16's when Europe uses H&K 416's often. Also, Norway still uses the Mosin Nagant, far more antiquated than a Mauser.
Sorry I meant finland still uses the Mosin..I don't know why I said Norway. Finland uses the Tkiv-85 which is a Mosin Nagant Clone. As for the CZ-550, it's not an exact copy of the Mauser's design like the Mauser is...and the quality of the two is probably quite different. This also still doesn't combat the fact that most Military rifles for the US or other countries in terms of bolts are cheaper designs overall now...I doubt many are as well built as even the CZ-550.
(Cont) In terms of terrorists only using them because they have nothing else, this is untrue. The majority of the 7.62x54R's used are PSL's, but they have been founds with Dragunovs, Mosins and others...along with their mortars around 50% of their attacks are carried out from beyond 300-400 meters. The Finnish Tkiv-85 is also not an inexpensive gun...I'd easily believe the Tkiv's modification pieces alone are as costly as an entire Rem 700.
OK, 1st off, do u go thru life calling people 'little fagots' if they say something u don't agree w/?!? If not then don't do it on you-tube, makes you look like the 'little fagot'..2nd Is English ur 2nd language or something?!?! Ur using words that don't even make sense...'Outdated', if the gun were 'outdated' it would only be bought & built 4 collectors...3rd, A Glock WILL outperform that 1911 in ur vid in ALMOST any scenario, except maybe as a small fishing boat anchor..4th , oh never-mind....
@MrKp5259 i think you need to chill out, its called an accent, and his point is that this isnt out dated, that this is still a functional viable and effective design, you sir are an idiot, sure the glock may out perform, but on what basis? and you sir sound like a little fagot, no one mad you watch this video so if you dont like it, then guess what dont watch it dip shit. your the kind of sensitive dumb ass that is wrong with america today, so shut the fuck up.
@ehormann238 As far as outperforming the 1911 in ways. The Glock is lighter. The Glock holds more rounds. The Glock is simplier. The Glock is much easier to take apart. It is always ready to fire. No safeties to disengage. Arguebally more reliable also.
@esh325 You dont have to put the 1911 on safety. Just a choice. I am always surprised by coments from non shooters that fail to understand the importance of accuracy. Anybody ever heard of an accurat Glock? Just currious. Is accuracy impotant in the field?
@QuesoChino It would be stupid to carry a cocked semi auto without the safety one. Just imagine how dangerous it would be drawing or holstering the pistol with such a light trigger. No where in any 1911 manual will it say you can the 1911 with a safety on and any expert will say its not recommended. I've shot Glock's and they are accurate pistols. Anybody who says they are inaccurate or lead throwers are just a poor shot.
@esh325 silly response. I did not realize you put your finger in the the trigger guard when un-holstering - hence you must have the same problem with your Glock. You dont honestly understand the beavertail safety hey? It would be senseless to converse with some one who knows so little about the opposing weapon. Would you not agree? Ever been in a fight with your Glock? Your not even aware that when you crowd a Glocks muzzle they DONT fire - oops. At least know your own gun before talking bs.
@QuesoChino I don't. I'm not the one who said you could carry a 1911 without the thumb safety on. Why does the 1911 have a thumb safety if it doesn't need one? Why does every expert recommend you carry with the safety on? The beaver tail safety is deactivated once you get a full grip on the gun. Like when you are drawing it from your holster or reholstering it. I fire and own both. I have videos of them.
@esh325 The mannual is for liability - oops. Glock accurate? Yeah at 25 feet its real acurate. Thank God you will never need to defend yourself outside - ummm. You dont even know your own weapon man. Thank God you have them extra rounds - your gonna need em.
@esh325 i would not agree, that they are simpler nor MORE reliable, id say their equal in reliability, and like chino said, you dont need to use the safety, however the 1911 is more reliable, ie, main spring operates the hammer, trigger just wraps around magazine hammer hits pin hits primer then function ensues vs complex connector, trigger block, striker platform, half cock striker. glocks work, they do their job, which is to be an inexpensive handgun that requires very little maintenance
@ehormann238 Glock's are more simplier, even with its safety system. Look up the schematics if you don't believe me. 34 parts of the Glock. Vs 52 of the 1911. Carrying without the safety on is not recommended. The 1911 has more parts to it, hence more to go wrong in the long run.
@ehormann238 ...Call it what u want(accent, flaming, whatever), that FACT remains that this man is not open towards others opinions, he's overly SENSITIVE towards being wrong. Ur point is diluted because my ORIGINAL comment was addressing just that. Now since ur commenting on MY comments & not the video in question u are a troll(define)....Also have u read ur response to me?? U should, u might even (probably not) realize most of what u said makes no sense at all w/ extreme inconsistencies.
@MrKp5259 again, your being overly sensitive, towards (you guessed it) being wrong, most people would have left it, but not you. we will once again return to the whole, if you dont like it, this is a free country and although insensitive, its his choice. And i think you really have no idea what a troll is. if i was trolling i would have been much more specific, and only trying to make you mad, with no regard to referencing the video or anything. Lastly your grammar sucks, your dumb, and blow me!
@ehormann238 glock is the gun for the people, the 1911 is the gun for the shooter. and id argue you can never find another handgun with as comfortable, intuitive a grip as the 1911.
let em think their plastic pistol is worth a damn. If I gotta get down and dirty I dont need to be up against a firearm capable of staying in the fight.
The Colt 1911 pistol is the design upon which most modern automatic pistols are based. The .45 ACP is still one of the most effective defensive rounds available. That's why the gun is still being manufactured 100 years after it was first created by John M. Browning.
As to the 45/9mm debate, they are both deadly in skilled hands, and both are nearly worthless in unskilled hands. Same goes for anything .380 and up IMHO and .22LRs have killed more than their fair share...45 acp is awesome, it's just not my preference.
Whatever you shoot, shoot it well and odds are you will prevail.
@lupe045 It's not really a question of how many people it's killed, but how reliably it can kill. Quite a few people have been killed by butterknives, but that doesn't mean the butterknife is the most effective killing tool.
Lol , poor baby cant take criticism , Its not outdated , Outdated Would be if it was bettered by its peers , It is not , It does the same job now it has always done and the same job modern guns do now ,See how a mature person answers a difference of opinion , Also , what a pathetic attempt at trying to get likes by the usual " if i say something derisory about Europe all the moronic whoop whoop over patriotic inbreeds will like it " Time you grew up , No? , didn't think so
@capcom1 It can't have 15 rounds or more like modern pistols do, unless you like magazine extending past the grip. It cannot be carried without a safety on like modern pistols.
A 1911 is and always will be my first choice in competition shooting and home defense. Not only because it shoots a power packed, bad guy dropping 45 acp round, but because it is a time, combat, proven design that will live on for another 100 years. God Bless you John Browning!!
I don't really agree, I feel much can be done with it, and newer models of the 1911 have pushed what the platform is capable of, they say its reached its climax, but I still think this platform will be viable into the future
Can be, but if you're trying to engage enough targets that you can't get that 1.2 then once again, you probably didn't bring enough gun to the fight. And I say because of price because at least around here glocks will run an easy hundred or two hundred less than everything else on the shelf.
I can't speak for what special forces can or can't carry because I honestly don't know. But I do know that a lot of them also pack Sig's and plenty of other guns, and some do bring 1911's.
I guess at the end, like everything else, it boils down to preference. Bottom line, as someone who is damn handy at working steel, I believe a well kept steel weapon can better hold up then a well kept polymer weapon because it is what it is.
Not saying high cap isn't an advantage, but I've practiced reloading drills and seen that it's not that hard to reload in a matter of 1.2 seconds. Going behind cover or screaming loud enough will give you the time to. I haven't been in a gunfight yet but I've stood up to someone armed before, and I don't shake. I've seen too many people die to let the idea bug me. And by admission, yeah, sometimes it's not but a lot of departments around here are switching to 9mm Glocks because of the price.
@ApocalypseRain Isn't 1.2 seconds enough for the other person to kill you? You can't justify lower capacity as being superior or on par with a high capacity magazine in anyway. Because of price? Proof? Lower end 1911's are fairly inexpensive. Some times as much as a Glock.
@esh325 It is if you're dumb enough to reload in the dead open. And I don't have to justify lower capacity as being superior or on par because all the goddamn wars it won speak for themselves. And yes, some lower end ones are. But the same Springfield that made war winning 1911's all throughout the 30's and 40's (along with Colt, Rem Rand, Ithaca, and a few others) sell new production replicas (GI .45) and fantastic fighting 1911's (Mil Spec) for roughly $550 and $650. I'd much rather pay
Well said...

@davedave3417 Only silly people say such things. Why does it matter if it looks like a toy when a bullet coming out of the barrel will kill you just as dead as a bullet coming out of a 1911's barrel?

Terrible video. Guns today are just as good or better than older guns. A glock is far superior to a 1911 in form and function.
tumortim666 1 month ago
@tumortim666 The Glock is still a Browning design, just look at it,slide, tilting barrel, recoil spring design, ramped barrel. The internal firing pin came from the Colt 1903 which is a Browning design too. Good opinion Brother . Browning still influences Glock by its design .....
reddevilparatrooper 1 month ago

However, the improvement would be from the m9 to the glock, not from the m9 to the 1911.
dlstb 2 months ago
@dlstb I'm sure there are Veterans who prefer the 1911. As far needing one shot, there are plenty of people who have survived .45 acp's and 9mms. No magical one shot stop caliber. I think 9mm is a better caliber. I agree that there are better firearms then 1911's these days. I think the Glock is a fine choice, but for ergonomics and trigger pull, the Glock is lacking some what.
esh325 1 month ago in playlist 1911
You sound like a whining little bitch. I just wanted to let you know that.
We don't use the 1911 anymore because they now produce far superior designs. For example, while the.45 is a great caliber, it is hard to make one that can hold enough rounds in the magazine to win a firefight without the need to reload. And if your comeback is that the .45 only needs one shot to kill as opposed to the 9mm, well... let's go test that. Go shoot yourself in the chest with a 9mm and see how long you live.
dlstb 2 months ago
@dlstb The FNP45 holds 15 rounds of .45 acp. I think the lack of capacity statement is an old argument now. Granted. a 15 round .45 acp will be much larger in grip then a 9mm holding 15 9mm's. I suppose for most civilian users, they probably don't need the extra rounds perhaps. Police and military might be a different story though. In many police shoot outs, they expend a lot more then seven rounds to end an argument, even if it's .45 acp.
esh325 1 month ago in playlist 1911
@esh325 You bring up a good point about the .45's that can hold 15 rounds. And that point is that none of them are model 1911's. I've shot one of those FNP45's and it was a good gun. I just happened to be at the range at the right time and a guy wanted me to try it. BUT, it is heavier, doesn't conceal as easily, bullets cost more, and costs 2x what a decent 9mm of the same quality costs.
Sidenote, I had a SSGT who was so convinced the 9mm couldn't kill that he often flagged us with his.
dlstb 1 month ago
@esh325 That SSGT was a total freaking jackass and should have been kicked out for his daily BS. Bottom line though, the 1911 is a good target or self defense gun. But it isn't a gun to go to battle with anymore. But, I'd take a rifle, not a pistol into combat, no matter what caliber. A .22 rifle is easier to aim at 100 + yards than the best .45 pistol money can buy. And no one wants to get shot. Not even by a .22.
dlstb 1 month ago
@dlstb He does sound like a moron. A .22 rifle is easier to shoot at 100 yards with, but you can't conceal or put a .22 rifle in a holster. I have shot many 1911's and I agree there are better choices these days.

esh325 2 months ago
@esh325 That makes no sense, even when something is #1 that doesn't mean everybody in the world goes and gets one. Does everyone drive a Bugatti? 100year old desighn that's still used = #1 IMO.
MadeInOregon27 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 What makes a 1911 so special that everybody can't have one? It's a myth that it's a prohibitively expensive pistol to make or buy. So don't use that reason. Everybody and their brother knows about the 1911. All the police or military agencies that chose not to use the 1911 had their own valid reasons. They weren't stupid or inexperienced.
esh325 2 months ago
@esh325 I'm part of a 1911 forum, LEO use glocks and S&W because they produce LOTS of them to train with. And FYI allot of them CC 1911's. My S&W 1911 E-Series was 750$ BNIB. That's not even that expensive. It's also slim/slender and feels like a 9mm in my hand.
MadeInOregon27 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 If Law enforcement prefered mostly 1911's then why isn't S&W producing 1911's in large numbers? Instead, they are just producing small quantities of race gun 1911's like the E series. It would be cheaper then 750$ if they didn't bother with all the fine tuning they put on 1911's these days. The new Ruger SR1911 are priced very closely to a Glock.
esh325 2 months ago
@esh325
MadeInOregon27 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 The 1911 isn't the only gun chambered in .45 acp these days. They make the Glock 21 and plethora of others in that caliber. Those stories exist for .45 acp too.
esh325 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 "Resistance to Gunfire Mettinger absorbed nine rounds from Borders' .45—six of which hit him in the torso and two more of which literally severed his right foot—without any significant effect on his fighting ability. This would have been remarkable even if Officer Borders had been firing marginally effective rounds, but he was using .45 caliber Gold Dot ammunition, which is considered by many to be the best man-stopper on the market"
esh325 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 So I think its safe to say the demand for 1911's is relatively low for military and law enforcement agencies in the US and worldwide compared to other pistols.
esh325 2 months ago
@esh325 Haha, glocks are seriously pieces of shit. And they have shit for stopping power. 1911 is x5times better of a gun.
FacinatingWorld 2 months ago
@FacinatingWorld They make the Glock in .45 acp, it's called the Glock 21. So how does the Glock have poor stopping power?
esh325 2 months ago
@esh325 LEO use cheap guns..... because they produce ALLOT of them and fuck allot of them up. what don't you get about that? lol... I know allot of cops/military that CC 1911's. They are the smart ones :)
MadeInOregon27 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 And the reason they might not opt for 1911's has nothing to do with price. That is all I'm saying.
esh325 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 And look up the video "Officer Jared Reston talks about when he was shot" He took multiple hits of .45 acp and still was able to fight. So trying to bring up these stories about people taking multiple shots of 9mm mean squat. Those same stories are out there for .45 acp if you aren't of selective hearing.
esh325 2 months ago
@esh325 Chances or % of that happening tips towards the 9mm by a LARGER amount is my point. If you think otherwise, you don't know guns. Sorry.
MadeInOregon27 2 months ago
@MadeInOregon27 And what are you basing that off of? It's more emotional then fact that somebody would say a 9mm is weak compared to a .45 acp.

IcabodCrane 3 months ago
In many police gun battles, they expend a lot more then seven rounds to settle a confrontation,
esh325 3 months ago
@esh325
IcabodCrane 3 months ago
@IcabodCrane Terrorists only use them out of the fact that they have nothing else. While it probably serves the Finns well, I imagine they take old rifles and modify for cost savings. Newer actions are most likely more accurate and stronger. I don't think the Mosin Nagant could handle magnum cartridges favored by some Snipers. The Kabooms are mostly from reloads.
esh325 3 months ago
As much as I hate to say it because it gives the 1911 fans even more propaganda for their "the 1911 is the best gun ever made and has no flaws" bullcrap...it is not outdated. To be outdated or obsolete would be to point out a design that has completely and utterly made something too old fashioned to be as adequate.
Just as the Mauser 98; though other designs have been put out with various differences, there hasn't been a gun that makes it old news, just various differences that others prefer.
IcabodCrane 3 months ago
@IcabodCrane I see the Mauser action in many hunting rifle incarnations, but I can't really find any modern bolt action that's a Mauser action that a military issues today.
esh325 3 months ago
@esh325
IcabodCrane 3 months ago
@IcabodCrane The CZ550's incarnation don't cost nearly as much as 3000$. I don't Norway ever using the Mosin Nagant.
esh325 3 months ago
@esh325
IcabodCrane 3 months ago
@esh325
IcabodCrane 3 months ago

ehormann238 3 months ago
@ehormann238 As far as outperforming the 1911 in ways. The Glock is lighter. The Glock holds more rounds. The Glock is simplier. The Glock is much easier to take apart. It is always ready to fire. No safeties to disengage. Arguebally more reliable also.
esh325 3 months ago
@esh325 You dont have to put the 1911 on safety. Just a choice. I am always surprised by coments from non shooters that fail to understand the importance of accuracy. Anybody ever heard of an accurat Glock? Just currious. Is accuracy impotant in the field?
QuesoChino 3 months ago
@QuesoChino It would be stupid to carry a cocked semi auto without the safety one. Just imagine how dangerous it would be drawing or holstering the pistol with such a light trigger. No where in any 1911 manual will it say you can the 1911 with a safety on and any expert will say its not recommended. I've shot Glock's and they are accurate pistols. Anybody who says they are inaccurate or lead throwers are just a poor shot.
esh325 3 months ago
@esh325 silly response. I did not realize you put your finger in the the trigger guard when un-holstering - hence you must have the same problem with your Glock. You dont honestly understand the beavertail safety hey? It would be senseless to converse with some one who knows so little about the opposing weapon. Would you not agree? Ever been in a fight with your Glock? Your not even aware that when you crowd a Glocks muzzle they DONT fire - oops. At least know your own gun before talking bs.
QuesoChino 3 months ago
@QuesoChino I don't. I'm not the one who said you could carry a 1911 without the thumb safety on. Why does the 1911 have a thumb safety if it doesn't need one? Why does every expert recommend you carry with the safety on? The beaver tail safety is deactivated once you get a full grip on the gun. Like when you are drawing it from your holster or reholstering it. I fire and own both. I have videos of them.

esh325 3 months ago
@esh325 At 20 yards? I hope so, then again I bet you could do the same with a rock.
QuesoChino 3 months ago
@esh325 i would not agree, that they are simpler nor MORE reliable, id say their equal in reliability, and like chino said, you dont need to use the safety, however the 1911 is more reliable, ie, main spring operates the hammer, trigger just wraps around magazine hammer hits pin hits primer then function ensues vs complex connector, trigger block, striker platform, half cock striker. glocks work, they do their job, which is to be an inexpensive handgun that requires very little maintenance
ehormann238 3 months ago
@ehormann238 Glock's are more simplier, even with its safety system. Look up the schematics if you don't believe me. 34 parts of the Glock. Vs 52 of the 1911. Carrying without the safety on is not recommended. The 1911 has more parts to it, hence more to go wrong in the long run.

@esh325 So a trike is better than a car? Less working parts right? Wrong assumption.

let em think their plastic pistol is worth a damn.

Whatever you shoot, shoot it well and odds are you will prevail.
lupe045 4 months ago
@lupe045 It's not really a question of how many people it's killed, but how reliably it can kill. Quite a few people have been killed by butterknives, but that doesn't mean the butterknife is the most effective killing tool.

@esh325 How about two butter knives?

DeathBoxDeadBoxHead1 4 months ago
Can be, but if you're trying to engage enough targets that you can't get that 1.2 then once again, you probably didn't bring enough gun to the fight. And I say because of price because at least around here glocks will run an easy hundred or two hundred less than everything else on the shelf.
ApocalypseRain 4 months ago

ApocalypseRain 4 months ago
@ApocalypseRain Isn't 1.2 seconds enough for the other person to kill you? You can't justify lower capacity as being superior or on par with a high capacity magazine in anyway. Because of price? Proof? Lower end 1911's are fairly inexpensive. Some times as much as a Glock.
esh325 4 months ago
@esh325 It is if you're dumb enough to reload in the dead open. And I don't have to justify lower capacity as being superior or on par because all the goddamn wars it won speak for themselves. And yes, some lower end ones are. But the same Springfield that made war winning 1911's all throughout the 30's and 40's (along with Colt, Rem Rand, Ithaca, and a few others) sell new production replicas (GI .45) and fantastic fighting 1911's (Mil Spec) for roughly $550 and $650. I'd much rather pay
