So glad to see this interviewing! I've been researching a lot about writing a children's book. I've always loved to write, and had a dream a while back, that I decided to write down. After several drafts, others looking over it, I still know I need to complete some steps. I've tried to research the age group, word count, and sentence structure on line but fall short of an answer. Where do I find them? Who do you have look over your work before submitting a book proposal?
Thanks for posting this interview! I have a lot of ideas for children's books but I now know I need to learn a few more things (and go back and revise a little bit) before publishers will take notice.
Thanks for your comment, Michelle. Learning all you can and more revision will definitely help you. You'll be giving yourself an advantage. I've heard publishers say that people often send their manuscripts out too soon, before they're ready. I know I did when I first started writing. Good luck with your children's books. I wish you every success! All the best, Robyn
That was EXCELLENT! You are SO inspiring...and so funny, too. You make me feel more confident about myself, and it gives me more courage to give it all I've got. I have wanted to be a writer for so long, but haven't really had the oppotunity to work on it until the past few years. I know that it won't be an easy path, but I have to follow my dream. I wish I could find my high school English teacher, Mrs. Youngblood. She told me that I should become a writer WAY back then!
Thanks, Cynde. I'm glad you enjoyed my interview, though I'm not sure I deserve such praise. You're so sweet! A few years ago, I rang my old high school and told them that I wanted to contact a past teacher and why - so I could tell him about the wonderful influence he'd been to me and my life. I left my phone number with the school and they rang my old teacher. He then rang me and we had a lovely chat. Perhaps you could try doing the same. Wishing you every success with your writing, Robyn
Thanks for the comment. You're right - it is a long road but well worth taking. I love my life as a writer, even though there are easier paths to take. Best of luck with your writing. I hope you achieve all of your goals and dreams.
