@MrDip02 i wanted to get back into target shooting as well but at the same time i wanted a great field rifle. i was looking toward a 308win a 300mag 30-06 and the 270win. idk wat ur looking for but those are all good field/range rifles i think. the 270 has a flatter drop than the 30-06 and is cheaper than the 300 mag. depends on wat kinda target shooting u wana do tho. plenty of great calibers out there for targets

At 100 yards if the gun is sighted dead on, at 300 yards you will be more than .25'' low, not trying to throw stones but that just stuck out to me, otherwise good info
I am 13 and I have a Remington model 770 .270 WIN and I love it so far I have shot Winchester ballistic silvertip 130 grains and I liked them but they are a little expensive so this last time I got federal powershock 150 grains and I also like them and they are a good bit cheaper and I am hoping to get hornady core locks and stick with them because they are great ammunition for hunting and also target shooting.

Kinghunter227 I am 13 and I own a Remington model 7 ( .243) and it has a decent amount of recoil and the 270 a little more but I you can hold it up good and have the stock against your shoulder good you should be ok. Also my dad has a 270 and me like I said earlier a .243 and I have shot his so as far as weight goes there not much different if you change your mind about wanting a 270 to a 243.

@foxhunter3211 It does not suck, it is one of the most accurate rifles you can get. It's more accurate than most rifles with free floating barrels. Oh by the way the USMC uses it for their Recon Snipers (.308), also Police Snipers use the .308 for hostage situations. They trust the accuracy so much with the Remington Model 700 that they will take shots at people from over 800 yards away with victims being extremely close to them (as close as 6" away). So read up on your facts.

I've got the same .270 model 700 and a .257 Weatherby Magnum Mark V, both are extremely well shooting rifles. I shoot a 130 grain Federal Premium .270 and I've never noticed any brass residue and it's a very clean round. Shot a 1/4 thick hardened steel plate with it and it punched through like nothing. But my Weatherby shoots far flatter than the .270 ever could. All in all, I use them both in taking down monster bucks in South GA!

I've got the same .270 model 700 and a .257 Weatherby Magnum Mark V, both are extremely well shooting rifles. I shoot a 130 grain Federal Premium .270 and I've never noticed any brass residue and it's a very clean round. Shot a 1/4 thick hardened steel plate with it and it punched through like nothing. But my Weatherby shoots far flatter than the .270 ever could. All in all, I use them both in taking down monster bucks in South GA!

@XxAnythingRandomXx those are all very good calibers. but i have to say to go with the .270 because its a little cheaper to buy ammunition. But if u have 30 bucks to blow every 20 shots then get the 30-06. honestly ur not killing people... are u, i hope not.... but if ur looking for target practice or deer hunting it doesnt really matter. they all practicly shoot the same depending on range. say up to 100 yards. if u got money get the 30-06. cause it honestly just badass

@XxAnythingRandomXx Depends on what the purpose, but i always preferd the 30-06, its powerfull!. Its expencive tho but its good for moose and elk hunting. If ur a newbie in shooting i wud used a 308. And another thing is that if you are gonna use it for hunting, buy the Tikka T3 (30-06). I have one of them, and im ver happy, it never fails
