"In keeping with other scores of the ghostly genre, The Changeling has strong and memorable themes, notably a music box theme composed by Howard Blake, heard alternately on celesta and in a full bodied-romantic piano rendition. Currently, the music box theme has become something of a cliché in horror films, yet at the time of this score this was not so."
Positive LA--without question, the best haunted house movie ever made, even better than "The Haunting", which is saying a lot. The atmosphere and the sense of awe at being confronted with the inexplicable are both unmatched anywhere.
I think that's what Claire Norman said when John played it for her. It's so pretty. When I first saw the murder I think I almost cried. But nice movie.
Definitely one of the best true horror films ever made. That seance scene was pretty good, but what made it better was the followup scene when George C. Scott is reviewing the tape and actually hears Joseph's voice. Very well written and shot and gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.
Everyone needs to see this movie at least once. Oh yeah, and I LOVE this lullaby.
Underrated ghost story for sure. Too long for most attention spans, but if you want a creepy movie to watch this Holloween season and refuse to see the latest installment of Saw, try this out instead. At night in a darkened room, the seance scene will give you creeps!!
Yeah, when he listens back to the tape and starts asking..,How did you die, how did you die.., and John has an out of body experience and goes back in time and actually sees the murder..., man that part still scares me to death after 30 years!!
I've been in love with this film since I was about 12 years old. And that was a VERY long time ago. Great "True" horror film, proving that there isn't a need for so much blood and gore to cause a movie to be hauntingly frightening, right?
@Ga11owbraid i agree this movie is very good i think today's generation (althought i grew up in 90s) would loose interest because it doesnt have flashy special effects but this is a great film thats actually scary unlike many films today.
I love that movie. I was fortunate enough to buy - not too long ago - one of the 1000 copies made from a guy in Japan. I love it. Thanks for taking the time to upload this so others may have the opportunity to enjoy it as much as I do. [And you do] Craig!! :o)
I don't have an actual copy of my own, but someone was kind enough to upload the entire soundtrack in a torrent. What an awesome collectible! Congrats!
Guess I found it.
