ok if you really wanna be that guy let me break it down for you..ken block(owner/founder of DC Shoes(lots o' money) also is a lot older and has more experience) kyle sarasin, 19 years old and doesnt own any fancy company doing it on his own time and bank account...so if you didnt have the money you wouldnt be jumping a car 171 feet just for fun either, kyle is doing it for practice for the x games...big difference..and if you really wanna say 171 ft is far look up johnny greaves..try 301 ft
That car is probabaly not even jdm it probably has a usdm wrx swap in it your gc's and gf's are less than a 100lbs lighter than our cars here. The impreza is an amazing platform regardless of the year or origin of the car.
where is the vio pov footage? you advertise the helmet cam at start of vid but it was all hand held stuff? abit dis appointing..i own two units but willnever claim it in a video unless i have the footage in it
Your grammar is not the best I've seen but I think you're trying to say that the American chassis is much weaker than the jdm type-ra version. It is slightly lighter, but not that much. I have stiffened the entire chassis of my car with custom welded bars of steel in strategically located places for least weight and most strengthening. Still, because it is my daily driver I'm not going to do big jumps with it. Only small ones.
so I live in salt lake city and I would like to know where this jump is lol I have a 98 RS that I'm getting ready to stage prep I wish people here knew about rally theres about 15 of us in the state
I think they might have a tendancy to be a little front heavy I wouldn't try one that big right away see how the car does on something smaller like that jump they were hitting on the way back
The bike is used first to judge the speed needed to clear the jump and land correctly, since the dirt bike has no idea on how fast hes going and car follows the bike to get an estimated correct speed.
The car can't adjust itself in the air like the rider can, you go to short or to far in the car and its quite a bit worse then on a bike...if you notice thte cars go nose down pretty quick and can't conrtol it.
2006 US leg Gumball footage, and 2008 Texas Supra Meet Racing.
This video was put together by Alex, an up & coming new videographer who is working in the field for us travelling with Rally America and going to XGames.
Ignore him, the only time I ever see Recce80 on You Tube is commenting on how shit a car video is.
I agree that X-Games "rally", really isn't rally, but if its drawing attention to the sport and is putting more motor sport on TV then whats the harm in it?
(As a side note though, it has to be said that American sports TV - especially ESPN - is excruciating to watch)
I've done some little jumps in my bugeye wagon. Wish I had a video of them. My car is a DD though and it's not tuned to handle jumps like these. However, the GD chassis(02-07) has a lower center of gravity and stiffer frame than the 99 along with a subframe and fender cowling braces. I don't really know what it takes for a car to handle repeated abuse like that. I'm sure my vehic could handle one clean jump, but over and over...eeeeyeah I think my chassis would snap in half lol.
lol from the back it looks like a taxi

This video is awesome! Does anyone think that a Volkswagen Golf rally car could land a jump like that? I am concerned about the smaller wheel base.

So what's the point of the dirt bike leading the Impreza in the first few clips? Anyone know?
