Look, my mom was a teacher for 40 years, single mom. We weren't rich by any means, but we were solidly middle class. This idea that teachers make 'unliveable' wages is absurd.

I don't really think most teachers deserve much credit at all. There will always be an exception to the rule but I've met about 3 teachers in my whole life that were genuine and cared. Those teachers honestly made you feel like you were going somewhere and you were excited about learning what they taught. Since grade school through college I've had probably more than 50 teachers.

What I have realized is that it's a system beyond my control and it's not worth my time and energy anymore. I am scared for the future of America.

So much time is spent in school and so little is gained.

Good point! Those other countries also do not report the scores of all students because only the high performers go on to high education. More important, they also do not have the cultural diversity American classrooms have. In Finland, the classrooms are going to be composed of 99.9% Finnish while our classrooms are a combination of diverse ethnicities, religious backgrounds, etcetera.

What I dont get is why the state has a a crap load of potheads in jail costing 20-40k a year to house while some kids out there cannot afford college. As a nation we have our priorities all fucked up....locking up non-violent offenders in favour over educating our youth

@MTOTOwaNYAYO because the prison industry is privatized--which is a very scary thing--to maximize profit: maximize inmates, to maximize inmates: unreasonable laws--AND unreasonable penalties for those laws. Weed should obvious be legal--but what makes it even worse is that its prosecuted as though its an EXTREMELY bad act. Why is it all fucked up? Its what happens when you privatize shit thats not supposed to be privatized. Breaking the law today is really slippery slope.

The problem is the government intervention in our lives, not private industry which is in fact being destroyed by the corporatism in this country.
Prisons should be privatized and the gov has no right to make private property illegal.
The gov is inefficent and curropt, to legalize freedom, it would mean that there would not be no victim, no crimes.
No one has the right to make private property illegal.
The gov operates on coercion, it is unecessary.

@RyanR3volution the government is inefficient because of lobbying--the fact that 1 billionaire has more pull than 10 of millions of citizens. Prisons should not be privatized--and i explained why. How do you not see that the argument that they should be is non-sense? Don't you see why corporations are bad? Its very clear--they have only 1 thing to do: PROFIT, and thats it, nothing else. That is a bad thing--Government has no logical incentive to do anything immoral--unless profit comes in

Corporations are a government created entity, a special priviledge like welfare or IP law, should be done away with.

Government in it's roots is funded by the immoral extraction of wealth, that drives up prices and makes us all suffer.
Taxation is theft, there is no way to get around this.

didn't joe say that he didn't start smoking cannabis until he was an adult? so he just went with his friends to buy it but never smoked it? so what the fuck? joe doesn't realize, or at least it isn't shown in this clip, the US spends more money per pupil than other countries yet they outscore the US.

Good point! Those other countries also do not report the scores of all students because only the high performers go on to high education. More important, they also do not have the cultural diversity American classrooms have. In Finland, the classrooms are going to be composed of 99.9% Finnish while our classrooms are a combination of diverse ethnicities, religious backgrounds, etcetera.
