@nsingh225 Nope: that wasn't even my strength: I think the strong points in my application were personal statement, SAT scores, extra-curricular activites and ethnicity.
I certainly didn't score straight A's as a domer :)
@bourn4theAF Check the quality of the program which you intend to study, for example; I'm sure both universities have different strengths and weaknesses!
For me, yes, going to Notre Dame was worth the price of admission. However, I don't think I would send my kids to ND lest I go broke; private tertiary education in America is unaffordable.
What do you mean by leadership experience? I play basketball and I'm joining the debate team, also most likely going on a Russian mission trip, I don't know if they count that as community service though.
@Skuch22 you don't need a 4.5 - they prefer within the top 5% of your class although. and you'd have to do better than 1300, typically 1400+. hope I did well on my SATs yesterday so I can attend this fine institution
I volunteered at a hospital for two years. If you are into serving others, you'll definitely have many opportunities to do so at Notre Dame. It has a multitude of formalized programs, run through the Center for Social Concerns, that will open your mind, and heart, I hope. It's one of the best things about ND, besides football!
im a junior in high school. i have been looking at this university. if you dont mind me asking what was your average high school ranking and gpa to be accepted? if you donot want to share yours what do you think the average is for your peers? thank you.
I was top 10% in high school, if I remember correctly; and my GPA was around 3.6. SAT was 1470 (reading and math); and I was accepted via early admission.
I have a feeling my peers had significantly higher numerical qualifications. A friend from my high school who had a lower average wasn't accepted.
Good luck, dude; I don't know about your qualifications but I still encourage you to apply to ND. Be optimistic about your chances at every school to which you apply, for you don't really know what your chances are!
I'm not really sure. Notre Dame was the only school to which I applied, early admission, no less. I guess it really depends on your strengths, that which you can contribute to the university.
Thanks to both mckln and insomniac... Is there any "inside" information you can give me about getting in and how to live at Notre Dame.. As I said I am a freshmen and I dream about my life at Notre Dame... Thanks for responding and reading my comments also how were you able to get a room to yourself?
If you want a room to yourself, most likely you'll have to wait until you are a senior since rooms are chosen according to class; that is, seniors pick first while freshman will get the leftovers.
I am a freshmen in high school and I am really striving for an opportunity to go to Notre Dame... Can you give me some feedback........ I was also wondering... IM a BIG Sports person(I know this will be taken care of) But I am A HUGE GAMER... Do most kids have tvs in their rooms and do you get cable and could I have Xbox Live and stuff.... Thanks
In my common room, we have Live set up for my roommate's XBOX, so I'm pretty sure you're safe. Also, a vast majority of Domers play video games, and you can determine with your roommate if you want a TV in your room and who will bring it.
Wow, it's great that you're really looking ahead to your life at Notre Dame - it'll be a blessing, I'm sure. Don't forget to enjoy highschool, nonetheless^^
Well, it was small, but after living in HK for six years, I can tell you that there are much smaller habitations in which to find oneself in the world.
That said, I tended to spend a lot of time in other people's rooms!
I am extremely interested in attending Notre Dame in a couple of years. Can you tell me how difficult it was for you to get in based on your performance in high school? Just throw some numbers at me. I have fairly good grades, in the 3.8 range, I am involved in sports, tons of extracurriculars, and community service. I will hopefully go there in the summer, too. I am also a legacy, my family has done a lot at that school. Based on that, can you give me an idea of how hard it will be to get in?
I don't think it will be too hard considering your qualifications; that is, so long as you can sustain them; your legacy status, what's more, should put you over the top - good luck!
well, I am a sophomore in high school right now, and I live outside of Indianapolis, so I don't know if location factors into it or not. But what I was really wondering is how you did in high school that put you over the edge; and did you know any students that you thought admissions let in by mistake. I hear there are some people who get let in with a 3.0 but awesome community service records.
Notre Dame was the only school I applied to, through early admission, no less. The two greatest contributors to my success, most likely, were a strong SAT score, and the fact that I'm a minority - Asian - that ND needed at the time. Like everyone else, I volunteered, did pretty well in school and played the requisite varsity sports.
The admissions board, I'm sure, changes their requirements every year to get the right "mix" for their student body; so that can explain a lot of the fluctuation you've seen in applicants who were accepted. Who knows what will happen in two years!?
Contact Father McFeelgood at (574) 631-5000. He's is the Director of Admissions. He can get you in, but you have to give him a blow job. I know it's not too cool, but that's how we do things around here.
Just stop, buddy. I hate the USC garbage. It's on video after video. You're probably the same guy on all accounts. Show some respect. If I want to go there that's my business. There's probably way more shady things going on at USC. But hey, pick your battles, right? You would rather bash a university that has something to be proud of. USC will never compare to Notre Dame, ever.

How hard is it to get into here? I have about a 3.8, but haven't taken the SAT, yet.

I think you'll need high SAT scores, a lot of community service and leadership experience - it's the usual mix.
mckln 2 years ago
