*dismay* I seriously need to get a job soon if I want to get all these neat imports (DESTINY, PHANTASIA, REBIRTH, WAIIIII). I knew Tales was something special when it makes me SO BADLY want the imports, unlike Final Fantasy, though I do enjoy the latter very much. Must ... do ... resume ... *falls over*
In ToD2 it's a little useless to try getting grade early on in the game, I think. xD It's a very random system, like grade depends on the game's mood rather than how you did in battle, lol. In my two playthroughs I've found it's much easier to get grade later on in the game by utilizing enemy weaknesses and uping the difficulty. I did my grade farming in a snowy field with only fire spells. I heard the PSP version gives easier grade (and reduced grade shop prices) so I wanna get it too. ^^
Meh, take your time. It bothers me when people apologize over something they shouldn't.
But can you believe it, lanyn? You're almost finished with the game, and the first segment was released on June 24, 2007 (at least, I think it is). Let's see, what's left... There's Anikamal, then Minal, then... Hmm, I'd say another 10 segments? I thought it'd be cool to finish at #100. XD
Heh heh, I just feel bad because it has to suck watching a game's plot unfold 10 minutes at a time. I have lazy days too. ^^
And I think it's gonna be around 20 to 25 more vids...that's just a guess though. I just remember there being quite a lot of dialogue towards the end and all.
Oh, as for the Kanji, I use a program called Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten. It has good handwriting recognition and examples for word usage. ^^
I got to mess with ToD2 battle system to get positive grade yesterday XD I think loni as a guardian, and three casters, while you lower sp and guard strike enemies award a LOT of grade most of the game, if you know how to use Loni he is more useful than kyle
Ah, okay. I'll keep that in mind. I just started the game, so I've only got Kyle and Loni in my party at the moment. I just figured that I'd better learn how to earn positive Grade before progressing any further. XD
Well, for positive grade, you'll need to avoid using items and having characters die, like the other tales games, but you'll also have to limit the number of times casters use healing spells. Also, level difference effects grade A LOT. Using skills also seems to boost grade for some reason. And yeah, Loni's good once you get used to his slow speed and his slightly odd attacks. For Kyle, though, (ab)use bakuenken once you get it, especially the special effect.
Well, if you know how to abuse Lonis great Guard Striking Skills.. and how to lower enemies SP, melees will fall in no time, if you got trouble with casters, spell cancelling bakuenken with kuha senpugeki is REALLY helpful, heal only outside battle, and in bosses NEVER die, moreover, in bosses if they create a FOE use a syrup bottle, it is really useful cause the attack reduced isnt that important anyways :D
I honestly found Loni's best skill to be Muhyoushou, chained into an ougi (usually senkoubappa, or shinkuu kassaijin if I'm in spirits blaster.) Kyle's ganzanmessaijin is one of the better moves for grade, though, especially with SP reduction and Hi-ougi both at 4 and a high critical rate. I think Shou'ou Zetsuenshou has one of the largest hit areas for a hi-ougi (excluding wild geese and the summons). Combined with ganzan's large hit area and low sp use, and you have easy hi-ougis (and grade).

By the way, lanyn, may I ask of the name of the program you use on your DS to decipher Kanji characters? Y'know, for my studies. ;;
