The colossal amount of FAIL in this video series is absolutely astounding. A simple google search will reveal the numerous errors of this program made. The Hyskas were rulers of southern Egypt but rewrote themselves as slaves? The gas emissions which CAN happen in lakes is somehow transposed to rivers? G-d set up a set of rules that He was going to run the universe by, and He makes sure to follow these rules most of the time. Sometimes, however, He decided that it was necessary to break the rules, and do something against the regular order of the world. Because the whole point of the story of the exodus is that G-d performed *miracles*. G-d says in the bible that they were miracles. If they weren't real miracles, He would have used a different word.

If people only knew what actually happened during the plagues, they would never even attempt to explain them scientifically. It wasn't just the water turning red or an infestation of frogs, that isn't miraculous. Hundreds of untold miraculous things actually happened with the plagues.

I would think that they'd want to gather as many people as possible to pray to the gods that it doesn't happen. And EVEN if for some reason only Pharaoh's court would have known... couldn't they also have been curious, or have been too edgy to just go to sleep?

Also, the Egyptians DID know about Moses. When people get hit with crazy plagues they tend to ask questions... and get answers.

@hudis78 No of course not. Even today if a government had a chance to conceal or diminish a natural disaster, they would. Back in 2010 my state's capitol was completely flooded, and hardly a word was spoken on any major news organization, and I watched a lot of news to see if they would cover it.

Few people knew Moses, nowhere near the entire population. This isn't Cheers. Even today a lot of people probably couldn't name who the Vice President was. Back then people only knew "pharoah"

Floods are natural. The plagues weren't. They're a lot harder to ignore and cover up than any natural disaster. And anyway, I don't even think it was the Egyptian court that got the word out. Everyone had Jewish slaves, who were bragging about not being touched by any of the plagues, proclaiming to the Egyptians that their savior was here and that their god was going to take them out of Egypt very soon. If they didn't hear from the government they definitely heard from the Jews.

@hudis78 Thousands of years removed for what's going on right now, we don't know how they would act or what protocol would be for this type of situation. I doubt the Hebrews were bragging about all of the plagues because they were affected by them as well minus the last one. I'd say most Israelites didn't know about Moses's meetings with the Pharoah either.Families wouldn't know.Slavery was less of a household slavery situation and more of a government control one used for construction projects.

See the thing is I'm not getting my information from what I assume happened. I'm getting it from what I learned from Jews who've passed down the information about the exodus to their children, until today. All the Jews and Egyptians knew. Another very important thing though - the Jews were NOT affected by the plagues. It's brought down that during Blood, if a Jew and an Egyptian drank from the same cup of water, for the Egyptian it came out as blood and for the Jew it was water.

@hudis78 I'd have to disagree, even if you claim to know exactly what was going on, that situation would raise its own inconsistencies. if everyone knew, most likely the situation would have played out very differently, and most likely it would have been recorded in Egyptian records of that period if it was such common knowledge, we should records of it all over the place from the traditionally dated period from the Egyptians.

I don't claim to know exactly what happened, but I do claim to know a lot more than the archeologists who only know what happened through ancient excavations. Played out differently in what way?

And there have been Egyptian records found speaking about the Jews, the plagues, and a mass exodus. There are some videos that talk about those discoveries here on youtube. This documentary mentions them too, including one about the plague of hail being made up of both ice and fire.

@hudis78 Personally I would say for me to claim to know a more about ancient Egypt and ancient Jews would be a bit of a tragic conceit given the time they have dedicated to researching the topic compared to my own efforts.

I would just say that if something like that happened the way you suggest, the Pharoah's reactions might be much different and the populace's reactions could very well be different from what you are suggesting. I just think this man's interpretation is within plausible range

It's not conceit. They're doing the best they can for what they have. They've discovered A LOT and it's amazing how much of the past they could uncover. But they piece together history from small clues they find. I don't need research because I have the first hand story passed down through the generations.

Also, how DID the populace react?

The Bible accounts that G-d specifically hardened Pharaoh's heart, because otherwise he surely would have let the Jews go in his situation.

Being that Judaism claims many, many things that this documentary does not even attempt to prove scientifically or archeologically, in the Jewish standpoint it is wholly incomplete and therefore cannot prove very much. It proves that there was probably an eruption in Santorini that stirred up trouble in Egypt - but it hasn't been proved that this trouble was actually the biblical 10 plagues, though it was similar.
