John Key's fiscal policy is a better option as it stimulates consumer expenditure which encourages the market and businesses to invest more and create better products and services. This is ESSENTIAL for free markets like ours to raise the standards of living from its present state. This will result in a good economic growth for as long as the government budget is under control. I have no doubts in John Key's abilities to be able to do this. This guy has definitely got something to offer.
Clark's economic policy is prudent. She admits on investing on education, social programs, infrastructure, etc. Whilst they may be good, they are at the end of the day government expenditure which drives budget deficits up. Her administration offsets this through high public taxes. This may be promising in a long-term basis BUT the growth of the economy is rather sluggish as the public tendency is to save rather than invest for further capital growth which is essential for an economy to boom.

I've finally had time to sit down and watch this debate. Kudos to YouTube as this is the first time I've ever watched a debate. Anyways, as a single young lady on an invalids benefit with no children, I was disheartened to hear of all the wonderful things Helen Clark is promising to do, yet she has had nine years to make these changes. I have always been a labour supporter but I now believe it is time for a change. Let's hope the next Government use their time wisely.

With a small population and limited resources, New Zealand has done well through careful economic management. It is unfair and simplistic for John Key to compare the economies.

John Key's is a fool (2.48). Australia's economic security and growth is in a resources boom, coal, uraniam and other ores. New Zealand with less than a quarter of a population and with little to no mining industry does very well on a volotile international market.

New Zealand's exports are largely agricultural based, thats a geographic factor nothing any government could dramaticaly alter. New Zealand's financial security is in the strict banking regulations which has resulted in a strong standing in the current global recession, with limited overseas banking investment. With a small population and limited resources, New Zealand has done well through careful economic management. It is unfair and simplistic for John Key to compare the economies.

i think that keys can be trusted tbh. he cant realy be compared to the wall street bankers, and a financial background can help while leadging a country because they have atleast a chance at understanding the consequences of their financial decisions, just as the general public see the consequences of effects on their life. anyway i think that it is time for change as any party who are in for too long tend to go too far in their own direction getting away from what is truly good for the country.
