  • That sucks! So far I haven't had much trouble with my SD's, but I think my favorites are the Kato's and the BLI's. The BLI's have an awesome amount of pulling power and the Kato's aren't too shabby either, plus I like the detail on the Kato's.

  • kato rules their the best...they pull great and run great and have great details!!! i have the UP 5714 building america edition and its the best engine i have....i think it runs better then my Athearn Genesis F7's!!!

  • Yeah, I totally agree! In fact, I liked 5714 so much, that I hunted down and bought 5799 to run in consist! Kato's are excellent.

  • YEA!!! thats awlsome! i cant wait till i get enough money to buy another Kato engine!! they are! lol

  • Yep, sd60m (three window version) and sd70m! Right on man, you're good!! Especially since you can only see the back of the sd60m.

  • Muchas gracias!! LOL!

  • Nice! I was just playing with a new Athearn SD60M... the ditch lights are great...

  • Cool, do they make any with the three window version, or are they all the two windows?

  • Thank you! I really like that Kato AC4400 a lot. I'm looking for #5799, since that is the other flag unit that Kato made, but it's a little harder to find. You can usually find #5714 on ebay!

  • The flashing ditch lights REALLY add to the train!!!

  • Thanks! Yeah that's one of my favorite features too. Totally worth the extra effort on that project!!

  • justone problem!

UP doesnt have its ditch lights move back 'n forth

  • fucking awesome!

  • Such tiny Trains! "UP rules" *and great job there hoss!!! :) Monster and you seem to be the "king spankers" around here. Whos got DD-40`s??

  • Actally I do! What about you? Any model trains? Thanks for watching!

  • make longer videos, great video i noticed all your other videos are all under a minute

  • Yeah sorry! I have a memory card on my camera that is full of still shots so I went out and got another just for my videos! Anyway, I hope to be adding some longer ones shortly! Thanks for watching!

  • awesome! great collection of trains!

  • Thanks!!! Wait until you see some of my coming vids that will feature Metrolinks, BNSF's, and hopefully some Surfliners and other Amtrak California trains in the next few months! Also, some of my friends have an awesome layou with about every detail imaginable!! It's really great! Anyways, thanks for watching!!

  • okay sounds good hope theirs lots of videos to come

  • Absolutley and thanks for watching!

  • You are straight trippin dawg. All UP engines, BNSF engines have ditchlights. It is mandated by railroad law to do so. All of my locos have either working or non working ditchlights on them and I model UP too

  • I'm not sure what you mean, it is now required by law that all locomotives in the United States have ditchlights. It's up to the company and their operating practices whether or not they alternate when the bell is activated or the horn is activated, or they just have a switch to activate them manually. Or are you talking about finding models with operating ditch lights?

  • This is a very nice video too! Hey that UP AC4400 or Dash 9 unit what is it? Who is the maker of that one? I do not think it is Kato because of the operational ditchlights

  • Thanks for watching! Also, that UP lead unit is a Kato AC4400 that I put 1.5 volt lightbulbs in, and then hardwired to a Digitrax AC4400 sound decoder!!! That's what makes it so cool, since most people either don't take the time or don't know how to that! Kinda unique huh!! Thanks for your rating and comment!!

  • Yea it does look good. I was thinking maybe it was a Atlas Dash 8-40Cw with sound. Adding the 1.5 volt bulbs is cool. What size resister did you use? I have to do alot of lights but my 620K 1/4 ohm carbon resisters do not allow the lights to work

  • I used 620 ohm resistors on this model, but I put 580 ohm resistors in my Amtrak's and I like them much better! Their brighter and look way more prototypical. Now I just have to turn the sound level on this guy down a little, it's cranked all the way up so we could find them on our club layout, but it takes over this small room that our layout is in here.

  • Thats what I have. 620K 1/4 ohm resisters but they do not work. Maybe I have the wrong type. It is Carbon something ones. What are yours

  • You know I'm going to have to dig through and find them! I know that I got them fron Radio Shack, but I don't remember if they were carbon or not, but as soon as I find them I will let you know!

  • Hi again, I finally had a chance to find those resistors and I have the exact same kind as you have. Do you remember how you set them up? I have them running off of the common (blue) line and only one resistor for each bulb. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to help you out!

  • I just replied to your message, but The problem I had was I had 620K resistors not the 620OHM ones that were the right size. I reordered the 620ohm resisters, installed them into the locos that needed upgraded lights and all is well now. Thanks

  • I'm also uploading my videos of my Amtrak Coast Starlight tonight and you can see the difference in the light intensity! The second Superliner car is a customized lounge car that is in phase IV and is made to look like the Pacific Parlour car strictly found on the Coast Starlight, but I will be working on a model this weekend that will be in phase III and feature the correct window arrangement! Best part is that it's plastic so I didn't have to get the brass model!
