Disney changed because the media is more powerful to us girls (or to most of us it seems like) because they make it seem like grils have to be bimbos. So some girls are beleiving that. Disneys messages aren't getting through because with the media and how it is today girls don't respect themselves enough for these messages to have any effect on them. Disney sais girls have to be strong and confident, not sexy and wear skimpy clothing to make us seem cool.

They say these movies are for little kids...well personally, I think the old Disney movies were perfect for all ages, it's the Disney movies made now that are geared more for little ones.
@whostolemywaffles Out of all the Disney movies, Mulan is probably the one that people are most likely to enjoy at any age. Personally I love Disney films, but I can see how the "formula" and the talking animals could put adults off. This has elements of it, but it's a much more human story and the message about gender is done in a better way that most live action movies. Also, having Eddie Murphy as a scrawny, irritable little pest was a casting slam-dunk.

It's true that Disney used to be for all ages, but a child has a mind unlike any other. Kids are so full of imagination and wonder, constantly wanting to learn about the world and having the ideas to make it better than it is. But rather than inspiring that, the company would rather just manipulate them into a lot of trendy junk, which undermines their potential as human beings.

@123456789kbx That IS sad. It makes my soul cry. I grew up with these movies and it sickens me to see the trash they put on Disney Channel, all this Hannah Montana and whatever other crap... People need to sit their kids down and make them watch The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mulan, and Pocahontas. School them with some Disney Renaissance films, not the crap polluting TV. Good thing Disney has the sense to keep re-releasing these movies...

@dagger1087 ikr. its sick. Mulan is one of my favourites. When i am able to, i am going to open up a large store with the original princess' of disney and kingdom hearts. Its sick the trash on tv. Hannah Montana, Zack and Cody, Shake it up, Were are supposed to teach children to love classics and stuff. in most disney shows, if you pay attention, you'll see the main character littering or something. children are like little computers

Disney changed because the media is more powerful to us girls (or to most of us it seems like) because they make it seem like grils have to be bimbos. So some girls are beleiving that. Disneys messages aren't getting through because with the media and how it is today girls don't respect themselves enough for these messages to have any effect on them. Disney sais girls have to be strong and confident, not sexy and wear skimpy clothing to make us seem cool.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE Disney now. I miss the good 'ol days when Disney was kickass. Screw Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, and Jonas Brothers. My kids are gonna know the TRUE Disney! Instead of them asking for Suite Life, they're gonna ask me for Aladdin ^^

They say these movies are for little kids...well personally, I think the old Disney movies were perfect for all ages, it's the Disney movies made now that are geared more for little ones.

@whostolemywaffles Out of all the Disney movies, Mulan is probably the one that people are most likely to enjoy at any age. Personally I love Disney films, but I can see how the "formula" and the talking animals could put adults off. This has elements of it, but it's a much more human story and the message about gender is done in a better way that most live action movies. Also, having Eddie Murphy as a scrawny, irritable little pest was a casting slam-dunk.

@whostolemywaffles Yeah, but technically the stuff Disney makes now is for kids who the company thinks are stupid. It's true that Disney used to be for all ages, but a child has a mind unlike any other. Kids are so full of imagination and wonder, constantly wanting to learn about the world and having the ideas to make it better than it is. But rather than inspiring that, the company would rather just manipulate them into a lot of trendy junk, which undermines their potential as human beings.

Well, Princess and the Frog DID kinda go back to the classic recipe. that movie was just as good as any of the original Princess movies.

@twilightprincesspope I think Tangled was a big step in the right direction though, even though it wasn't as memorable as some of the older movies (and with all the money it's making, I'd say there's still hope for Disney).
