i have to go in for a screw removal and i think pins they put in my ankle.. do they put you to sleep like the surgery or do they just numb the foot and go to work while your awake?

How long did you have the screws in before they decided to remove them ? I have 6 screws and a plate in my ankle from a bimalleolar fx from 8 months ago - still a lot of pain and stiffness and need a cane. Not sure I want to go thru more surgery -might be less stable w./o the screws but still in some pain. Does yours feel better after removal ? Thx

@doogleandalix Wow looks like you had a serious injury there... mine was minor and I had the screw for 6-8 weeks, after which I had to use crutches for another 6 weeks. After that I was completely fine and I'm doing gymnastics now, which places a lot of stress on the ankle.

I really hope your foot gets better soon, and if it heals enough you should eventually be able to remove the plating :)

ugh i have a rod and 10 screws in my ankle and i had to have reconstructive surgery on it. Broke in 4 places and it was dislocated n it was almost an open fracture. Mines permanent it cant be takin out

Glad you are feeling better. I'm getting my screws out hopefully this Thursday. I'm also wondering if I can walk afterward as there will be holes in the bone. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

@1infamouz hey i think u'll be able to walk afterwards. cos it's healed and u shud b able to walk. maybe for a few days after the surgery u'll have to be on crutches so the cut can heal properly without pressure to it. although im not too sure cos i dont remember it to well!

i go in surgery today to get screw removed i playin footy wit few mates 3 months ago an slipped onto me ankle broke 2 bones in foot broke tibia the fibia snapped a bone in me leg an tore the ankle out of the joint away from the foot

I tried climbing a pole and it was wet so i slipped and fell onto a billboard, then the ankle.
