Clay was in the same season as Ruben and Clay lost but still won in the end.

Justin's bad Luck was the fact taht they didn't promote the runners up inseason one as they did in following seasons.

Justin had Charisma Kelly is a Loud Mouth who screams and therefore convinces people she as passion.

Kelly was a white girl wanting to be black, justin was mixed whocould sing black and white and American Idol was about stage presence and charisma as much as vocals which if you remember corretly all three judges kept saying Justin had the X factor.

Like I said, any show that lets the same voters vote 1,000 times a peice is not creditable anyways.

@aks477578 When I say she wishes she was black I'm not bring up race in the traditional sense. It's a fact that Kelly's natural voice does not sound like a black female vocalist. However she often tried to make it sound that way especially if she wee singing an R&B song. Don't try and say she wasn't acting like a ghetto black girl when she sang Respect.

Kelly won because the show got bigger by the end of the summer and many tuned in the final night without knowing J for the entie season and only getting one show to decide.

I agree Kelly won that night due to the songs picked that night for the show being Diva songs, Had J ben able to showcase his stage presence like in this performance that night he could have won. also any show that lets millions vote over and over isn't legit anyways.

I totally agree!!! I thought he was a good singer, too. I mean, I really loved his 1st album that was put out. Kelly Clarckson, definitely deserved to win American Idol, but this guy ROCKED and did have it all. I hope he comes out with another album, too.

I watched AI 1 when it was new and again on AI Rewind and on Youtube.

It's just not true to say Kelly was better than J.

Most of the time all she did was scream or act like she wished she was black.

Justin sang with passion and performed for the crowd.

He kept the show going in it's infancy and was favored to win the finale.

Kelly won because tons of first time viewers tuned in that night and saw Kelly sing 2 songs written for her style and J sing the same Diva songs well but not his genre

The problem that I had with Justin is that once the season started I felt like he never really let go and used his voice to its full potential. He did that in all of the audition rounds and he was VERY good. I suppose I understand why. Clarkson went for it every time and when they got down to the last three weeks she could barely speak. Maybe he was holding back trying to figure when to peak. I think his auditions prove that he could have sand the hell out of ALL of his songs if chose to.

Justin has not gone anywhere. He is putting out a new album this year. He put out an album last year that was great and he is the host of Idol Tonight and a show I think called Idol Chat. This is only the beginning for the 29 year old, talented star. As Oprah said he has the "it" factor and she was right, he does.

WOW flashback. I remember the sheer excitement & crowd reaction. He was just so darn engaging & capivacting,he had the audiance in the palm of his hands. I remember thinking "they might as well stop the competition right now..there is your star"! He had it all,looks,voice,showmanship. Quite a masterful performer. One shake of those curley locks,a flash of his smile,I was hooked! I am so happy today he is doing music on his own terms & did not sell his soul to the AI franchise like so many did.

that performance was perfection! so good to see it in full here, after seeing it edited horribly on the rewind show over the weekend. i love the audience reaction, too, and the banter with the judges. a true star was born that day on that stage, with that performance. that performance always makes me smile, makes me happy. there has never been another contestant on AI like Justin, and never will be.
