@deenice681 I think Fred played bass for the Winans before founding Commissioned. I think they were probably very close, so I'm sure the Winans were an influence.
If Commisioned wasn't influenced by The Winans, how do you explain songs like Giving My Problems To You being similar to the Winans sound. Keith Staten is clearly trying to channel the vocal style of Marvin Winans on that song.
i am thrilled by this video even though it was first sang in 1984 and i like the lead guitar in the song and i am blessed to know that there is a city of the master in heaven. alan from namibia.

Those tags that begin @ 4:34 r something to behold...and when Karl closes out & that electric guitar comes in, man....I just start praying in the Spirit, it's sooooo AWESOME!!!!
Man that was so sincere and pure. What happened to gospel music today? There are great singers out there but very few who do this. We need to go back and do our first works again.
Love this song..makes you want to be ready when Jesus comes back!! Sing Fred!! Fred Hammond and Keith Staten were once in-laws.. Fred was married to Keith's sister. Keith's dad is a Bishop in the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith
The "Foursquare Gospel" or "Foursquare Church" as it is commonly referred, is a Pentecostal denomination founded by Sis. Aimee Semple Mcpherson in 1927 in Los Angeles, CA. Sis. Mcpherson chose the name "Foursquare" Gospel because her teaching emphasized Jesus as the Chief Cornerstone (foundation) embodied as 4 corners: Savior, Baptizer in the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:4), Healer, and Coming King.
refers to Revelations 21:16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
mzsophiesticated...Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. This may sound a little ignorant, but can anybody tell me what a "four square church" is? I think my Grandmother used to attend one in Cali years ago when I was a kid. She is deceased now.
In the land of fadless days, lies a city that's four square, where we'll never have to toil and the lamb shall live right there, God shall wipe.......
Man, Oh, Man! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I couldn't get what they were saying for anything. I couldn't even read their lips on the Reunion Concert DVD. Now, I can finally sing the whole song with a little more confidence.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST! They sound good in and out of the studio. every looks so young here. commissioned is still awesome just wish they were still together
This concert was actually republished and put on DVD. You may be able to order online or find at one of the mom & pop gospel stores. It's called "THE LOST CONCERT" of the Winans.
