  • do u still have tht iMac or did u recycle it already?

  • @jbehnke96

I gave my White iMac to my parents to rid a PC I built 4 them yrs ago, I maintain it & still runs great. I dont have this Aluminum iMac. Power Inverter to the backlit display was noisy, couldn't stand the glare. Went to the Mac Mini. But I actually miss redesign iMac cause of the iSight, better GPU, & faster at everything. I will get another iMac until the next redesign which isnt far, I will sell this This Mini or hand it to my parents and sell the white iMac. Time will tell

  • @pokeeto2 a simple yes or no would answer the question.

  • U must have a hatcam ;)

  • What are you ganna do with old Imac G5

  • @Techsupportgoneeasy

It's a Late 2006 17" 2Ghz Core 2 Duo iMac, 3GB Ram, SSnow Leopard. Gave it my parents to rid them of an old 2.8Ghz HT Pentium 4 Custom built PC I put together for them years ago running XP Pro. Moms not tech savvy but she uses the iMac alot more than the PC. In the Past, it's had the SuperDrive, LogicBoard, the LCD replaced(Last Year), and I replaced the HD with a 500GB WD Drive 2 months before this iMac. Why get rid of it? I might sell an old g4 Mac Mini I have instead.

  • Found one on Craigslist for $1000. I'm so on the Mac bandwagon.

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

Sounds OK, As long as that it's still covered on AppleCare, and if it is, get the Extension so u'll be worry free for years.

Did U buy it yet tho?? Base 21.5" refurbs go for $999 on Apples Refurbished Mac page. With Tax it's like $1052. They post some every other day as they sell out quick. Thats what this was ( the Midrange Model ) and it looked so new, heck it smelled new. No sign of use @ all. Everyday shows different stock so check frequently.

  • @pokeeto2 This is the model with 4650 graphics. Although I wouldn't call myself a PC gamer, if it can't run Call of Duty and make it look good, I don't want it. 9400m is not enough for me.

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

    Theres no 4650 on iMac.

Theres the nVidia 9400m, ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256mb and the Top HD 4850 with 512mb.

This iMac was the 4670. I was so tempted on getting the $999 refurb but the 9400m was a turnoff. I now use the newest Mac Mini with the 320m and it's decent for what it is. It does GTA4 quite well. Of course it was much better on the 4670 iMac but not bad on 320m. Expect 320m in the next iMac revision. Check my out my gameplay vids of the Mini.

  • @pokeeto2 You think that the lat 2010 13" MacBook Pros will have 330m graphics?

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

It's possible. Rumor has it that apple will update the Cinema display, MacPro and iMacs tomorrow. MacBooks could get a revision too who knows.

I think that since this is the pro line, they might just go ahead and do it. but thats me talking. Most likely they'll continue with the 320m as other products in the lineup are just about to transition out from the 9400m.

  • @pokeeto2 Damn. I just thought I'd finally decided I'd go with the MacBook Pro and now I'm gonna have to start all over lol.

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

Well, what exactly r u gonna use it for?? I'm not a PC gamer. I bought GTA4 cause for $17, how can I pass it off, plus I already had Win XP pro and I knew this game would be very playable on my Mini's 320m. I still need to get an Xbox 360 remote as it's impossible for me on the keyboard ( Too many years using PS1 Ps2 remotes) . I just don't want to spend $300 on a Ps3 just yet. I'd rather get a MacBook before anything cause my 5 y/o iBook G4 is acting up.

  • @pokeeto2 I wouldn't describe myself as a power user. I use my current laptop to manage my iTunes, browse the internet, and the occasional game. I have a total of 4 games on my computer. Portal, COD: World at War, Left 4 Dead 2, and Counter-Strike: Source. I just want to be able to run a couple of games. Is the 2 GBs of RAM in the white MacBook is enough to do those games?

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

Maybe, but u'll run low. 4Gb ram is a must whether a gamer or not. Comparing Apple on the 4GB upgrade and getting the ram for u to upgrade yourself, theres really not much savings. They charge $100. memoryup charges $49.96 for each 2GB module. You need 2 which is what apple uses in their upgrade. Totaling at $99.92. You're saving 8 cents doing it yourself. This makes Apple's $100 ram upgrade a bargain I guess.

  • @pokeeto2 Ugh! Now there's new iMacs too so the old ones will be cheaper and I have to factor those back in and I've been looking at the M11x again! So confusing!

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

The Base Model iMac is not too Shabby now. Discrete Graphics across the Line. The ATI 4670 with 256mb is now standard. Very competitive now.

I'm starting to question my Min nowi. Nah, I'll keep the Mini until apple Brings in the Core i Series chip. Apple Will not use Intel's integrated graphics since it sucks. Core 2 Duo production is ending so it will happen. I sense Apple bringing the Ati's or the 330m.

So, I guess iMac is now an option 4 u.

  • @pokeeto2 Also have to mention. I'm getting a new computer when I sell my laptop I currently have. I will have about $1200 saved up and I'm considering the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Alienware M11x. M11x is processer weak, but better graphics than the MBP 13". I'd really like to see some benchmarks for the 13.3" MBP's 320m graphics.

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

Playing gta4, it has a benchmark test. On the ati radeon hd 4670, it did over 100fps but with more advanced settings around 75fps. The 320m on my Mac mini does about 47fps and about 29 gps with more advanced settings. 9400m is far worse.

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker

Excuse my gps typo, I mean fps. The ati in the iMac was much more detailed than the 320m but the 320m is no slouch ( mainly shadow detail). And settings were more restrictive. Check my mini doing it and ull see it's not bad an completely playable.

  • how much was it
