  • @Wilhis97 you can. sick bike parts . com has a kit that adapts the motor to the bike gearing using a half shaft setup that transfers the power to the oppisite side of the bike. It's more involved than that but go to sick bike parts and check it out.

  • The way this camera hog kept trying to preen for the camera I kept expecting a tree branch or something to take him out.

  • not sure if youve been informed but if you put rubber between the mounts itll transfer the vibration to the nuts and bolts possibly causing them to become loos, nice ride though.

  • since you need a bike bigger than 18 inch, would be difficult to ride it? i have an 18 bicycle, what's the recommended size for the motorized conversion.

  • @Wilhis97 I know the question is 3 weeks old, but thought it should be answered.

No. The bike has 2 chains, the right chain is for pedals and can have gears like a normal bike, the left chain is for the engine and is a fixed ratio.

  • I got one too,Mine is on a mountain bike,It goes almost 40 miles an hour,Really fun

    to ride,lol

  • If im not correct then fine... but I believe thats 50cc...

  • nice i just ordered my engine kit 66cc /80cc any chance u could tell me how fast ill go i weigh 160 lbs

  • My son is 14, and we live in New York, can I legally ride one?

    Thanks,

    Bill

  • @WhoTubeProductions yeah id like to know this as well i live in New York and im 15 i wanna know if its street legal

  • dobre

  • If you try, you can get a DUI, gets over 100 miles per Gallon

  • can you get a D.U.I on one of these?

  • how many gallons is it ad how many miles can it go per gallon?

  • Lovin it.

  • MOOOTOOOORIIIIING WHAAAATS YOOOUR PRIIIICE FOR FLIIIIIGHT

  • WOW this is not a motorized bike this is a old looking moped NICE!

  • Nice bike Kip, finished my bike two weeks ago no problems with cops . lot of people like it, one guy got one this week, and I put together for him. he rides it to work every day 14 miles . lots of fun happy trails

  • @geomcc39 14 Miles!!!! Wow - That dude's laughing all the way to the (gas) bank! That's too cool!

  • Motorized bicycles are a million times better than any electric bicycles. Ive had BIONX kits CRYSTALITE kits Lifepo batterys Li mag batterys front motor electric bikes which are all just a bunch of shit. Cost me thousands of dollars, and takes hours and hours to recharge batterys. I bought a little gas motor from zoom bikes in port coquitlam B C canada for 135 dollars and it only added 16 pounds to my bike and is thousands of times better than any of my electric crap which im trying to sell....

  • Never pulled over by the Cops. I did register them with the DMV since they fall under the moped category.

  • @KipBurbank i no these bikes are just plain fun to ride and plus the local cops dont care about mine because its a small motor and quiet and they dont think it has much power lol

  • Damn it would be so awesome to have one of those xD

  • a new way to enjoy your bike again and get to work and save money.

  • I want one so bad, but I live in California. I'm going to try to get a kit somehow.

  • I'd love to ride to school on that :D

  • ahhh love this!

  • but..dont this defeat the purpose of a bicycle!!?!/

  • you just put a whole new meaning to "beach cruiser"

  • Do the pedals still work and power the back wheel or can they not be used when the engine is running?

  • Everything still works like a normal bicycle.

  • @KipBurbank Do the cops pull you over?

  • Will check I out !

  • I motorized a moondog too.

I did not use a kit . I did use a whizzer pulley for rear wheel.

The rest I designed and fabricated - it is a two speed with a foot clutch.

I used an engine from a lawn edger

Check out my youtube "two speed motorbike 001.MOV"

  • is it electric engine? How much speed it can achieve??

  • @energeticlear are you serious?? its a gas engine obviously. see the engine? and the gas tank? and hear the noise? pretty obvious... also electric engines do not exist, they are electric MOTORS

  • how fast does it go and is it a 80cc?

  • Those are so much fun.

  • legal in uk ? ?

  • Nice bike Kip. How does this bike take hills? I mean when the motor is on, I don't mean pedaling manually up hill. Thanks.

  • takes Florida hills well.

  • @KipBurbank like a flat chested girl

  • nice xD

  • Please see THE WORLD'S SIMPLEST TRANSMISSION for Bicycle. It is also a bike crank & transmission in one.

Watch: UNIQUE BIKE CRANK ( 2- SPEED)

  • when mounting the engine do you have to drill it down to the bike? or comes with some sort of mounting

  • i jave the same kit

  • Do you have a tensioner installed?

  • CLASS

  • i got a schwinn riverside with one of these engines on it. its fast and so fun to ride and got a couple videos on it

  • That bike is smokin hot! love it.

  • we have the same bike. look at my poor quality video of how I fabricated it to work with the gears.

  • Comment removed

  • is the engine really loud? and does the petrol smell from the tank? i really want to built one as i have already electric bike but it dont last the battery.. so i want to make petrol.. how long will this engine take you? thanks for your help..

  • no they are not loud and you can make them even quiter (is that a word) by putting a couple pieces of very course steel wool in the exhaust. I say make one, you will love it, they are really, really fun to ride, own and fix.

  • well sounds great.. i am still on case study before i convert mine from electric to petrol as i m fed up charging everytime my lithium ion battery. just worried here in england as quite strict..see my bike here name my motorized toybike.thanks again

  • The tank will last about 75 miles (one half gallon) No, the gas tank doesn't smell. I keep my bike(s) inside the house.

  • How do whould you shift it?

  • No shifting, one direct connect gear.

  • Hey Kip whats up.

    from

    4mer 23U162

  • Wish I had my old list to look up 162

  • Doesnt the motor get hot and you could get your legs burned? or is it ok?

  • The engine does get hot like any engine, but it's not in a place that will affect you.

  • I like your bike. can it be convert to 3 wheeler with chair seating.

something top roof like thing. In India it is hot . I want to use there.

    very good!

  • Of course you can convert it. May take some effort. Check youtube and see who has already made one.

  • two words! BAD ASS

  • i got the motor and i got a schwinn like your but crome finders and the muffle keeps hitting the peddal then the frame and we had to weld it to make it longer then butcher the fender because it didnt want to fit then the motor looked like it was put together by a 3 year old i sugest that anyone else never think about ti it was 2 days of frustration and we knew how to put it together so dont say that and we had the skills to make it work and we did.

  • I can tell you that chosing the best frame for engine-fit is really important. Otherwise you will faced with all kinds of challenges.

  • @rsqizar I had a Schwinn Pointe Beach cruiser I put an 80cc engine like this in it. It fit fine. Had to cut the front of the rear fender so the drive chain would pass through. Other than that was no problem fitting it. I put a dual pull brake lever on the right so both front and rear brakes are activated at the same time by the right hand lever. That means you don't have the problem of two levers on the left. Went very well, nomral was 45kmh and saw 55 a couple of times. Sold it for $450

  • he looks at the camera so many time

  • Around the metal frame tubes of the bicycle, I added hard rubber to dampen the vibration. Hard rubber, like real rubber hose, Be carefull when tightening the engine mounting bolts as so you don't strip the threads out.

  • what do you mean by 'partially' rubber mounted?

  • do you need to get these licensed?

  • no but its not legal... but polices allow it if you dont go fast and between the cars

  • ya how fast were you going?

it looked like you were hauling ass

  • how fast were you going?

  • I think we started around 20 and got up to 25 or so.

  • could ite be possible to mount on a expansion chamber to get the extra power, or isnt the engine built for more power than it allready has ? im concidering buying a kit myself .. so, a little extra power wouldnt be bad ..

  • Hi, I don't really know why expansion chambers work. But since it is two cycle I would say go ahead and try it.

  • all the beaners should get one

  • Buy a kit on Ebay, find a bike with a good V frame so the motor will fit. Look around 350 euros.

  • how many euros do i have to spend to make one of theese? and how can i make it?

  • No need to bend the pipe to fit, try manipulating the engine around a bit to find the best fit. If not, use a map-gas and O2 tank kit (home store kit) heat up the pipe until it glows and gently bend it as needed.

  • how did u bend the exhaust pipe to fit

  • when you first ever started it did it stay started or did it take a few trys to to keep it running

  • No, not normally. I have built 20 or so of these and maybe one will have a carb that is no good. No amount of adjusting will make it run. I usually spend the twelve bucks and get a new one on ebay. They should start easy and idle nicely from day one.

  • Sure, why not, anything you can think of.

  • Could you use an engine from a mower???

  • you should use a chiansaw engine. much more compatible and easier to mount AND also greater power

  • Nice bike, i have constructed my own motorised bicycle with a G-scooter 49cc engine mouted in the middle of the bike and driving the bicycle crank via chain and sprockets so that you can use all standard gears that come with a normal bike, 18 speed gearbox. 1st gear hits 42mph! and second gear with a long enough road would hit 50mph plus. Genuine speeds as was clocked by a car.

  • do you know that guy?

  • Yea, it's my friend Geoff. I am riding next to him on mine you can hear two engines. He came up to visit and took this orange one home because he like it.

  • How can I get mine to go that fast. I'm getting 20 mph with the same 80cc and bike. Nice setup btw. These bikes are taking off, lets just hope they lax the laws like how Spooky Tooth got legislation passed to allows these on the street in Arizona.

  • dude how are you only getting 20 how high do you have it geared i got the same one and am doing about 30 to 35

  • Thats good exercise.

  • No, there's really no exercise involved at all. Just pedal it a few feet and let out the clutch and go.

  • how this one handles upill travel? can this handle steep hill at low speed?

  • just like the first harley and honda!

  • I think if you're not mechanically inclind, then you should skip buying to building a bike like these. They take a good amount of upkeep in the beginning. But with that said, I have a 4 year old bike with the same engine that runs great with over 2000 miles on it.

  • So, how long have you had this built? I'm very scared of Chinese engines, especially after dropping 550.00 on a Chinese ATV for my kid, to have it seize up after 2 months. What is actual fuel mileage, and the regular speed for a grown man.

  • man, just check out my video i posted. I have a 49cc (its rated 80cc but you know how they lie about it online), and it is a chinese one. The kit cost 180 total... I had it for a few months now and no real problems, just a lot of adjusting with nick nacks and such. It does not take that much mechanical experience to put it together. seems to slack. Im also putting a video up on how to install them soon...

  • Be warned, those Moon Dog fenders tend to vibrate apart where they bolt to the frame or fork! Get a piece of L-bracket to bolt them down with, you don't want those fenders wadding up in your wheel at 20 mph or more. Makes a good looking motored bike, other than that minor problem!

  • I think this video was about 25 MPH. I was riding next to Geoff and holding the video camera so..

  • How fast were you going?

  • nice. any special licensing where you live?

  • You can get a Moped registration in Florida if you want one, I did it.
