  • I use SOS online backup, with no problems..here is number if interested 877-224-9264

  • You can select your video files with Mozy then set it and forget it. You can also tell Mozy to backup any folder you want then once it's selected to back up anything in it then you can keep adding to your folders and the new files will continue to be backed up. Also you can make back up sets with Mozy. Think of it like a play list. Files and folders you want backed up, or file types that you would like always searched for on your HD and backed up.

  • I like msejf backup online. It’s cheep and unlimited.

..And everyone can use 1GB for free.

  • the other alternative is

  • Mac Carbonite has no good way to backup *all* video files, only individual ones by tediously clicking on each one. Useless. Use Mozy instead if you're on a Mac.

  • This is how they're going to eventually give all your information to the "Thought Police". And the sad part of it is that you would have paid for it too.

  • @bostero1 I concur, I don't believe in trusting these corporations with my personal information but I have my reasons. We the people are incrementally being conditioned to accept this as a form of safety from accidents or natural disasters in exchange for personal privacy and liberties. I would rather do the backups myself locally on a schedule with preplanned emergency procedures. Nothings Perfect, I just have to be in control.

  • Am I correct in thinking that i could dump all my photos/music/video files on the cloud and free up up the space on my laptop? Or will i need to also keep a copy of them on my laptop as well as having them online? ( If so, when i delete the file from my laptop will it automatically restore it back from the cloud? )

And if i had a pc with several users on it, will it back up their files as well as mine, e.g a family PC ?

  • I used Mozy quite a bit for my clients, because ..it's cheap. but that's all it is really. Mozy needs a lot of maintenance since often the utility starts to freeze when you need it the most, very frustrating.

  • Carbonite does NOT automatically back up video files. They must be manually selected. So that means that every time I download pics and videos from my camera I must then go in and select the videos for backup. So much for the "completely automatic" "no need to remember to backup" that they advertise. And according to their customer service, there is no setting that can be changed to make video file backup automatic. I asked for a refund within an hour of signing up. Going to MOZY.

  • Carbonite makes you specificaly select video files to backup, so it's not set and forget. That was a deal-breaker for me. I'm trying to figure out if Mozy makes you do this and can't find ANYONE who addresses this.

  • Referral below gives you an EXTRA 250mb:

Thanks for using my link :)

  • Hasnt anyone ever thought to buy an external harddrive and back their files up to that for $45 forever??

  • @DannyEddy357 forever? that external harddrive can either fry up or be disfuntional..and opps...there goes all your data

  • If you're considering Carbonite, don't! I had been a customer of Carbonite for years. My PC had a failure and the system was rolled back to an earlier date. I go to Carbonite and they can't provide my data. When Carbonite does a backup they write a file to the PC that they're backing up and then they use that file to restore the system. Long story short, I lost family pictures, videos, tax information, work and personal files. I was promised numerous callbacks from engineering that never came.

  • In your comparison charts you have that Mozy files are "uploaded to Carbonite’s secured servers" really? I think you made a mistake in your copy and paste.

  • In the Security section of your comparison chart you state that with Mozy your files are "uploaded to Carbonite’s secured servers" really? or just sloppy copy and pasting?

  • What about backing up external drives and versioning. Power users could care less about customer service, but they want to know about these other important features.

  • This video won't even play for me?

  • I made comparison between these two too. I decided subscribe Mozy. Carbonite has one thing I hate. When you add new folders you can't never be sure all files are in back-up by default. I have always browse all files to be sure.

  • Carbonite is a perfect program!! no problems at all

  • @Califdan69

How do the two services compare as related to CPU required? Carbonite impacts my system performance and there is no way to actual stop it from running. I would prefer so manual control. where some folders are automatic backup and others are user controlled.

  • Carbonite: no .exe or Video file backup

    Mozyhome: exe and Video backup

    Clear winner: MOZYHOME!!!

  • @KevWorship

I backup video files with Carbonite. It just doesn't default to back them up.

  • Feels like this online backup system is a major problem waiting to happen.

  • This review is a joke! How about actually comparing the products instead of the prices and support. I.E. the fact that Mozy will backup your external hardrives and carbonite will not etc. Not that I'm totally convinced Mozy is better but this review is a joke.

  • @rdatkins1

I basically agree. Also it seems like I cannot stop the Carbonite service completely. It looks like it is sucking down CPU cycles even when it is paused. I could be wrong.

  • Well, I´m on over 4 hours on the phone with them just trying to get the service.

They seem to be having major difficulty trying to resolve an error from my original contanct (who has Carbonite as a vender). My frustation is epoc! What a pain, I´m about to throw it in on Carbonite.

  • I bet that son of a bitch is getting paid by Fagbonite to say its better, what a fucking whore

  • Carbonite is no bargain. See my video response and pass it along.

  • This review is the fail.

There are significant flaws in Carbonite such as the inability to backup ALL files in a folder automatically. Instead it will just leave out files it thinks are not important. You can manually go to every file it leaves out and force it to backup, but who wants to manually manage every file on their computer? Sorry Carbonite but you, like this review, are the FAIL!

  • both are scams, just get a flash drive, no download times or any bs

  • scams?

does your flash drive have unlimited space, backup your files nightly automatically, and keep multiple versions of the same file as it changes? is it totally secure and offsite so that say someone steals your crap or your house goes up in flames that your precious flash drive doesnt also go down with it?

for 54 bucks a year only a retard would suggest something like "just get a flash drive"

  • @russrolld “I had forgotten a few documents at the office, and couldn't remote in and didn't have a PC available. Using the iPhone app, I was able to retrieve, and share the docs i needed immediately! No longer just an insurance policy!”

    From A.Sharpe

HERE IS THE SOS ONLINE BACKUP DIRECT PHONE NUMBER 877-858-2832

  • Where do I get a 500 gig flash drive?

  • The whole point is "off-site backup". If you have a fire or your stuff is stolen then the flash drive goes with it. I also have very important stuff that I have got over the years so the more back-ups the better. I use Time Machine, but I also use Mozy as something to fall back on if Time Machine fails.

  • The chance that my place burns down is the same as their place burning down.... or getting hacked.

Getting my place rebuilt is far more important than replacing my computer files.

  • I would have liked to have seen more information on how the services differed in function, pricing is almost identical between them for a basic year, different options like trials really are not important. Would you base your decision on buying a car on whether or not it offered a 30 day trial? The free space on Mozy really isn't an option for anyone seriously thinking about a back up service either. There must be more differences between them then these small points.

  • The differences he has shown sucks...for genuine diffs, find out by yourself.

  • Helpful video. I'm currently using Mozy and happy with it so far but will consider Carbonite if Mozy doesn't work out.

  • i've used Mozy for awhile now and have always found it to be very user friendly and efficient. as a photographer, having backup for my images is of utmost importance, so i highly recommend anything that does the job.

  • I Knew Very Little About Online Backup Services Until This Video But Now I Feel Like I Know Alot About Both.

This Sounds Like A Good Idea And Both Services Sound Great I Can't Really Judge Yet But I Will Def Try Them Both With The Free Trials.

This Is Very Interesting And Cool Stuff!

  • cool vid! i don't use any online backup myself because i've been contented with doing "free" backups on my external hard drive but after watching this, i just might try it... didn't realize these services were so cheap...

  • tHIS video is very good tells me the prices of every service good video very informationalble.

  • I think it's a very useful video for me. Because I just bought my laptop and searching for the backup services. Carbonite looks much better than Mozy with reasonable price. Surely I going to try Carbonite. Thanks for the great and wonderful video.

  • I thought the video was very informative and in-depth about the two services. What I'm wondering is, what are the pros/cons of using an online service vs. an external hardrive?

  • Nice video. I never really looked on Youtube for reviews of this kind before. Carbonite seems like it is going to be the better choice for me. I just got a new laptop and I don't know what I would do if I lost everything. I guess I should better be safe than sorry. Thanks for the review!

  • First, let me say that you have a great speaking voice. I have not tried either of these two back-up service providers. I am going to look more into Carbonite service. I like the idea of having access via phone for customer support. Thank you for this informative video.

  • Thanks for an honest review. I've never used any online backup services.

The presentation could have been better with screenshots of both these sites/software.

  • I think I am going to try one of these. I bought a laptop a year ago brand new from Dell and it turned out to be junk. I really need to back up my files some how so I don't loose them since i've already lost everything once... I didn't know this was availible. Cool Video.

  • Cool video, well i have tried and used Mozy but not Carbonite.Seeing this video makes me little more interested in using carbonite now.I think I'm surley going to give a try.

  • I use Mozy to back up all my pictures and home videos. I have had no problems with it so I haven't used the technical support. After seeing this I might try out carbonite.

  • I don't have any experience with either company, however going by the information provided I might prefer the monthly option Mozy provides as opposed to having to pay a full year in advance with Carbonite. I also prefer Live Chat, so that's not an issue either.

  • Great video, very informative. I've used both products as well, and while both are very similar, I have to give a slight advantage to Carbonite. I thought Carbonite was a little easier to set up and use. I still recommend the free 2GB Mozy to friends for small backups (maybe just their most important files).

  • I haven't found Mozy prone to any flaws so far.....

I haven't tried carbonite yet and would like to try it once and then wil go for the best among these two......

Anyways Thanks for this Info mate....

  • This video is informative and the comparative analysis of Carbonate v/s Mozy home is helpful. It is easy to choose and opt for Carbonate as being a new user, I would not prefer to have any performance issues or having to change settings, which are found with Mozy home. Also the ease of use and telephone support available with Carbonate surely works in its favor.

  • i am working as a database administrator i like th Carbonite performance while taking online hot backup.

  • Nicely made video and very informative. I use Mozy for storage and am satisfied with it.

  • I would really prefer carbonite on mozy because it provides flawless online backup, good performance and the ease of its usage.

  • I would prefer carbonite on mozy because I have a proof of a user having experienced flawless online backup, good performance and the ease of its use. Mozy provide similar services but had some perfomance issues with the user. So carbonite is more preferable for me.

  • Looking at the video even I would prefer carbonite as it looked more attractive to me and I also got a proof of it's ease of use. It provided flawless backup to the usee and had no performance issues as compared to mozy.
