  • Anyone else hear a resemblance to "Sorry seems to be the Hardest Word"

  • A volte tutti ci innamoriamo...verità sacrosanta.

  • @Perfidia4ever Hmm Elton and Paul? What a combo! I would buy that a album!

  • This Album has the most Amazing Music and Lyrics of all time! Everyone should own this!

  • a great work from the duo elton john and bernie taupin

  • This is the best track on the album for me, its my favourite album of his and I saw him perform all of the tracks on the captain fantastic tour at Earls Court, this was the finale and most of the crowd where in tears.... me too. it hits you when you least expect it. best of the best

  • and by the way, capatian fantastic is my first album of elton john.i was born 1961.

  • @catofholt Well I have to say I was born in 1962 Elton John`s Captain Fantastic was my 4th lp that I bought at the time of it`s release. The ones before were,Three Dog Night,Kiss Live 1974 & Peter Frampton Comes Alive. This is a brilliant album,so sad that todays youth knows nothing about true "good" music. My heart bleeds. From an old school DJ

  • i'm down to earth listening elton john's songs in 70's and 80's.

  • Just a wonderful song, love it so much.

  • EJ what an incredible talent of course he should be knighted but I agree with unstoic Jeff Buckley even doing an EJ cover surpasses this. Postumas knighthood for Jeff Buckley, a national treasure.

  • Wow, haven't heard this since the 70's. Brings back wonderful memories as a child hearing this wonderful song always playing throughout my house along with many of his other early stuff. Love it!

  • THE BEST

  • reminds me of how great the music was in the 1970's!

  • this song should of been released as a single also along with someone saved my life tonight.

  • Beautiful song with lyrics straight from the heart!

  • EJ deserved his knighthood, if anyone with 'half a brain' listened to these lyrics we'd also have Sir Bernie.

  • @0000MarkD They haven't been knighted? Wow. But you kill a bunch of people in a war and they hand out those titles like candy.

  • @0000MarkD You are totally right!

  • painfull memorys of my teenage broken heart all them years ago.

  • I remember when EJ sold out Dodger stadium two days in a row - over 145,000 people

  • @johntg123 , great memories of that concert too!

  • shit son !!

  • great lyrics

  • the jeff buckley one is better

  • Awesome! I love it!

  • this was the first album in history where all the songs ran together I think it was done a little on GBYBR

  • To Patricia...your love is as strong to me now as it was in the past.....Smile and enjoy the memories

  • Magnificent!

  • I cried. For all the wrong reasons. I'll be eternaly sorry P.

  • I've always loved the way the piano in the beginning "trickles" like the lyrics. Its so simple (even I can play that part decent) but has such a great effect.

  • LOVE THIS CLASSIC!

  • amore, ti troverò . . . e ci ameremo in ogni istante per sempre

  • I love this song very much!! Elton John is the best singer in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • Indeed Lisa. Unreal that it puts you RIGHT there too.

    ; )

    Very cool tune.

  • ageless, classic

  • Classics like this are hard to come across these days.

  • ..what happend to MUSIC by the way?

  • If you play piano or guitar, this song is in Gm, Cm, D7, Ebm.

It remembers my earlier piano classes when I still living in Brazil.

Despite its wonderful melody, this song is leads me to dreams....

This song and " Sweet Painted Lady" are the ones Ilike most among a lot of others songs by Elton.

  • purely musical genius

  • whoever the tin-earred fools that bothered to punch "thumbs down" should lose their hearing at a very early age...since they obviously don't use it anyway

  • buckley needs more backround music

  • PENSO EM VOCÊ AO OUVIR ESTÁ DOCE SINGELA CANÇÃO.

  • Está canção me faz viajar ao meu passado: um passado cheio de momentos magicos.

  • Captain Fantastic is Elton John's best album. It's a brilliant piece of work that goes back to the time when he really had something to say. During this time, he and Bernie Taupin used their experiences to give reflections that everyone could identify with. Unlike today, when it seems to be all about him, works like this were about all of us, regardless of age, background or orientation. It was much more universal than what he'd ever done since.

  • You hear some decent stuff on the radio still, but oh my God, you don t hear stuff of this quality any more. Elton at his very peak from his finest ever album and one of the greatest albums of all time. The arrangement and playing still sound fresh, original and deeply expressive. He is one UK export I am truly proud of.. he and Bernie will always be songwriting royalty.

  • 2 dislikes???????

  • My youth 70s...

  • Whatever happened to this type of popular music? When I was young THIS was on the radio! We were so lucky and didn't know it....Too bad youth is wasted on the young...Emerson was right indeed.

  • Jeff Buckley's version is awesome, but you gotta give credit to Sir Elton, he is the best!!!

  • I HEARD THIS TUNE AT THE END OF A MOVIE. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. SOME ONE ELSE [NOT ELTON] WITH A STAT AND A VOICE. MAYBE STING. THE TUNE WAS REMARKABLE. I GOOGLED IT. AND NOW FOR THE FIRST TIME..... I SHALL LISEN TO "CAPT. FANTASTIC"

  • @manfredeuz jeff buckley. get to know him.

  • @manfredeuz you are talking about jeff buckleys version dude its awesome

  • essa foi a minha musica da minha formatura tocada por uma banda aqui no brasil que se chamava porao 99 inesquecivel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I believe this album was derided by the critics upon release but is now generally accepted as one of EJ's finest. Oh those vinyl days and fond memories that went with them! Thanks for uploading

  • I'm fairly certain that nobody on this planet has heard this album as many times as I have. I'm not bragging....just sayin'.

  • @muskokan59 this is my first time hearing captain fantastic. i must say i really, really enjoy this. it's beautiful

  • @arsia00alex I'm glad you found this. The complete album is a classic. On the album this song blends straight into the next song "Curtains",almost as if they are joined at the hips.So...as soon as this song ends...click over immediately to Curtains (Captain Fantastic 10 of 13)....Enjoy!!

  • @arsia00alex by the way....the next song "Curtains" is the true final song on the album.Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds","One Day at a Time".and "Philadelphia Freedom have been added as bonus tracks. They're from the same era (mid 70's),but they are not a part of the original album.

  • Simply the best ....

  • IT´S PERFECT. I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • GLAD BERNIE AND ELTON HAVE

    REMAINED FRIENDS THROUGHOUT

ALL THE BS IN TODAYS WORLD

    PS

NOTICED A BACKGROUND SYNTH AT THE BREAK

    MMMMMM

  • this song leads into Curtains just perfectly!

  • Great new album The Union with Leon Russell coming out soon

  • This song has one of the greatest bridges in the history of recorded music.

  • The most beautiful song he ever did in my opinion......

  • @bassmanjoe Yes this and Curtains are a stupendous end to his greatest album

  • Amazing song! one of my favorites.

  • Wonderful song from a fantastic album - and the greatest ballad composer

  • Great song from one of Elton's best albums IMHO.

  • ....and tickled down the sleepy subway trains....

  • @taraarro I believe it is "trickled down the sleepy subway trains".

  • como eu ouvia este album, muiinto bom

  • mostly only once sadly

  • Thankyou for posting....

  • Man, I really like this song.

I've kept that a secret most

of my life. Woops, It slipped

    out.

  • The Greatest Melody Writer Ever In Popular Music

  • unquestionably, a heart rending song that heals a broken heart or breaks a loving one. poignant lyircs with masterful melodies, this is as potent as music gets.

  • JUUUUUUUST.....BEFFORRRRE.. THE FLOOOOOOOD!!!!!----What Flood is Bernie writing/talkin' about ???(NIBIRU or WHAT) !!!!

  • @MrBazzabee Bernie is recalling Tiamat n' Marduk and the historic deluge

  • I'm only in my late 30's and I didn't really discover Eltons earlier music untill around 1987...but this song and album were definately in my top favorites and it always gives me chills to hear this song.

  • loved it until the AARP ad at the end, that sucks balls.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! TY......GOing back to being a teen again...until this song is over

  • Great Stuff

  • This album is about Elton and Bernie writing songs. It is a look back at the early days. At 2:52 the line "Our 'Empty Sky' was full of laughter" is a reference to the critics in the day. You probably know that and there is more to be sure but just making the comment.

  • @1967mustanggta duh, knew that, tell me something new

  • Listening to this one song at a time - I think it is his best album. Yellow Brick Road is great but you find yourself skipping over songs it seems you've heard to many times. But this album - you want to hear them all again. Maybe it's because it was never played to death on the radio. Remember this was no more than out then Rock of the Westies was out for Christmas. I remember liking the comic book that came with the album.

  • @1967mustanggta point taken, but Caribou is well done, musically and lyrically,

  • @1967mustanggta I agree, think Capt Fantastic has a more cohesive feel and takes the listener on wonderful musical journey into the musical poetic world of Elton and Bernie...top 5 fav album of mine

  • At 2:09, just great...5 Star recording. Overall excellence.

  • CLASSIC. XXX

  • CLASSIC. XXX

  • Fantastic Upload!!! The whole album!!!

Elton and Bernie were sooooo great on the album....Great memories

  • this song embarrasses other music writers,.what a genius

  • Beacame number one hit in Manila 1976.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Katargethe Ephapax...such a lonely word!

  • You wrote it and i played it something happened ...

    it's all worth it!

  • Sublime bittersweet song about songwriting, and suddenly writing something special.

Jeff Buckley recorded a version of this.

  • Sometimes we fall in love lots of times!

  • so true...

  • reminds me of my teenage years.....learning about love....

  • I related to your comment about falling in love lots of times...;-) Fantastic song. Nostalgic.

  • @LisaJMoore YES ME TOO WHEN I LIVED

    IN THE UK

    UK/USABOY.

  • Love this song! Tripped over my old cd. Forgot how great EJ and band are!

    Yay!

I love this song! And the piano is amazing in it! :D

  • @alyandajlover5678 Sir Elton John, has been playing the piano since he was age 5. How cool is that?

  • ELTON RULES!

  • The Greatest Melody Writer Ever In Popular Music

  • Elton is my all time FAV!

  • Sooo beautiful =]

  • I saw an interview with Elton and he said that this song was about him and Bernie Taupin falling in love in a non sexual way. Its a pretty song

  • Thankyou for posting 5*****

  • a drum set that sounds like a drum set...perfection.

  • This song makes me want to cry every time I hear it.

  • Now it makes me cry too.....

  • I always wonder when you're awake... when you're there. When you're at work. It gets to be quite strenuating.

  • And, you said you quit smoking. Smoking what? lol. And did you keep our Animal Crossing alive or sell it? :'(

  • Heh... I did quit smoking cigs, but I'm not done just yet... maybe, if you want to, when you come back, we can both quit together.

I still have Animal Crossing, but I haven't been able to bear playing it without you. It's frozen in time, waiting for you to come back too.

  • Well, I don't have the luxury of a factory job anymore... so I get weird hours every now and then... I should have alot more time soon, though, since Ashley and the baby are moving in with her BF in Dayton. I'm workin 9:30 to 6 tonight.

  • And what do you mean by that? So you'll see Luke less? That's bs. Why would she move that far, knowing you won't be able to see him? What a bitch.

  • Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I'll probably get to see him on weekends... I don't want him to be so far away either, but I can't stop her, it's her life.....

Oh yeah... look at Tear you apart. ;)

  • Yeah... but DON'T GET A FLU SHOT or TAKE TAMIFLU!!!

  • go like the smegma off of a uncircumsized arab person, cunt

  • Classic Elton

  • no way...curtains is a classic and hence the reason it is paired with this song...yes this song is great but curtains is in a class all by itself...i have never listened to a song that you cannot help but feel like crying every single time...wow.

  • This is for me the best song of this album. It is a very, very, beautiful song. The piano is so nice and the voice of Elton is fantastic.I love it.
