Her parents only spent the money on her education all of these years in the US so that she could have a higher status husband. Now HOW can anyone say that this is acceptable??
She was so excited to start her new life as a college girl. She was so bright and intelligent. She was taking her annual trip to Pakistan the day after graduation...she never came back. Her family had her marriage arranged and left her in Pakistan after she was married. She had a boyfriend in the US who she'd been dating for a year. Her knew this would happen all along, and she would have no say in the matter.
This is horrible and their parents have brainwashed them to think that this is okay! They have brainwashed them to believe that true love does not last. My parents dated for 13 years before they were married; love takes time. This idea or arranged marriage is absurd and I truly feel bad for each and every young adult that is forced into this. I just graduated from high school last May and I just recently found out that one of my friends had an arranged marriage.
@maddogb8020 They needed 13 years to make sure they are right for each other??? That is just sad. Even if you are not into arranged marriages..this is considered weird o.O And as far as your higher education comment goes: Girls all over the world do this. Most of the asian (japanese, chinese etc) girls coming to study here in Germany say the reason the study so hard to seem more appealing on the marriage market.Enough of my fellow german friends are the same.
@8sakuraleaf9 As if any of my fellow med student friends would marry anyone but someone who is also highly educated. One (also white) friend even went as far as dumping her boyfriend of 4 years because even though they worked out great he was only doing a...what she called "second class job" and she would feel weird.
That is something I consider crazy and extreme. Everything else is just good sense.
@8sakuraleaf9 Two Pakistani friends of mine had an arranged marriage two years ago and they are one the most happy couples I know :D Don't pity people when there is no need to. There is a diffrence between forced and arranged marriages.
@8sakuraleaf9 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
@symba If they had met someone else, they would have married them. What is the problem? My friend was engaged before...to a guy she knew for 4 years. He turned out to be the biggest douche, who was cheating on her. Then she met her now husband who a family friend introduced her to. No one forced her to do anything. She had all the freedom in the world. How is this a joke?
@8sakuraleaf9 Actually no it's not sad at all, they started dating when they were in the seventh grade and they waited to get married until after they were all finished with college. How is that weird or sad at all?
no, no, and no. This is marriage. Very important thing in ones life. At this point, it's not about what anyone ELSE wants. It's about YOU. As was mentioned. YOU are going to be with this person possibly the REST OF YOUR LIFE, 24/7. Not anyone else. So explain why someone else should make the decision of who that person is going to be for you. It doesn't make a lick of sense.
Just gave an example. Many people think they are marrying for love but it is for loneliness and other wrong reasons.. Neither arranged or love marriage is perfect, but that doesnt make the arranged marriage folks fags..
marriage is a sacred bond between two people who are in love with eachother. Not for pushy hovering parents with old fashioned dead morals that corrupt their children in a society that is not cut out for their ways.
Nice comment einstein. The fact that 50% of love marriages end in divorce and 70% of those are initiated by women in america shows how sacred marriage is. And most cases man gets screwed in court, losing kids , paycheck and his house. And you are blaming the pushy hovering parents for dead morals. The parents in asia take care of the kids in every way, they pay till they graduate, even in case of masters degree and sacrifice lot of other things. You have no clue moron.
@dreamerstays You know your reply is very rude I was merely stating my opinion not trying to start a fuss or tell people what to do you should try and be more polite.....
I am rude? i was just stating the obvious. It is you who are labeling the parents you know nothing about as as pushy hovering with dead morals who corrupt their own children? I presume you are the authority in upbringing kids and teaching morality.
@dreamerstays a lot of my indian friends say the reason they do not divororce because the family will give them hell so they are not allowed to divorce because they do not want to dishonor their parents
How many is a lot? Its surprising that a lot of your indian friends want to divorce, you must have a lot of lot indian friends. Also your friends are small percentage of indians( among billion other indians). So a specific case doesnt mean anything if you are saying the truth.
Statistics say otherwise.. 50% divorce rate, think heather mills, maya polsky, elen nordegren. Your parents are an exception, the majority of cases are something different.
Dude, lot of people are deceived that they are being loved by their partner. Lot of women marry because their biological clock is ticking and they are entering downs syndrome zone. The people who are involved in 50% of the divorce cases think they are in love before they get shocked by their partner
@dreamerstays in arranged marriages, you are stuck, whereas in love marriages you are free to choose your partner. For instance I have a German aunt, and a istance aunt who is Japanese, so our family is quite multicultural and isn't a bigtory cult.
Great, are you implying people with arranged marriage follow bigotry / some cult? or you made an assumption that i mentioned love marriage families are bigoted? There is a difference between forced marriage and arranged marriage. They arrange partners and you choose. People are stuck when they are forced into marriage like the taliban mullahs or the polygamist preachers who kidnap women.
@rabia846 Usually, with a good intention, it wouldn't happen that a parent would pressurise their child; my parents know me very well, they know what I want as well- "arranged marriage" for me would mean when parents help you arrange your marriage- when all family members including the bride and groom accept. "Pressurising" a girl to marry someone would be "forced marriage" and not "arranged marriage".
This is a joke.. anybody ever heard of the word freedom????? i do with my life what i want.
