Hey Pinky, normally I would not give out my secret, but since I learned how to make powdered laundry detergent from you (by the way I LOVE IT!) I will share with you (momma taught me to share!) Here is a recipe for you and your viewers. Get some perfumers alcohol (find online fairly cheap), a dash of water, and your favorite fragrance. You like that laundry scent use that! Put all ingredients in a spray bottle and spray your furniture as normal! Enjoy & Shalom!
WOW, I SHOULD I POSTED MY IDEA A LONG TIME AGO... IVE ALREADY BEEN DOING THIS FOR AWHILE,,,I DO THE EXACT STEPS BUT I ALSO PUT IN THE BOTTLE SOME FABRIC SHEETS.. IT WORKS EVEN BETTER
First off i think this is a great idea miss pinky . Second to the people who are freaking over possible toxicity . If its that toxic and unsafe to breath why would u wash your clothes in it ? I would think pouring it in a washer (undiluted airborne contamination) and wearing it would be a tad bit larger risk than spraying it on a curtain or a sofa .
i read in my free weekly to try 1 part vodka to 2 parts water as a febreze alternative, i assume the alcohol takes the odor away as it evaporates. also certain dollar stores are now selling they own knockoff called jazzbreze (or something like that)
Be careful with alcohol in your air fresheners. Isopropyl alcohol can be a CNS depressant and cause pulmonary damage when breathed in. OSHA has been testing hospitals for alcohol in the air due to its toxicity. Use vinegar instead of Isopropyl.
you could also spray alot on a washcloth, and throw in the dryer. and you have fabric softener sheets. bottle lasts for months, why keep buying, smart. great tips...
I worked in a group home and they were on limited funds and we we were constantly running out of air freshener that we liked to use in the living room, well I did just what you did and it is just as nice as the "real" stuff.
@androshi Look up the MSDS on Isopropyl. Don't inhale isopropyl. It's toxic to your lungs and is a CNS depressant. Try vinegar instead. Osha has been testing hospitals for this substance. I started using the isopropyl and started getting sick.
Thanks for the suggestions. Do you know if the rubbing alcohol is put in a spray bottle and/or mixed with water? Also, is the baking soda mixed with water? If so, how much?
Sounds like a great idea. I'm thinking that because Downy is so thick, may be the reason why it was sticky. I used Snuggle and it's rather thin liquid in comparison to Downy. However, I do have some Downy on hand and I will try as you recommended. Thanks for sharing.
I'll have to try this!

Your fabric freshener is probably full of toxic chemicals, You sure you want to spray that around your house?

ok this is how i did it -i took rubbing alcohol 70% -then i took 2tbl of baking soda -then i added the 2 together.
then i shook it softly-because it might blow up if you shake it hard- i filtered it -because i didnt want my bottle to clog up
and then i sprayed my smelly rug that was old but nice looking.
worked good for me- maybe i could add a scented oil -something that smells clean like linin.
it works -just filter it just in case.

hi pinky,as im reading your responce my friend told me that in hospitals they use rubbing alcohol for smells and making things fresh.
she also told me that if you take 2 tblsp of baking soda ,shake it it makes a great deodorizer.
just make sure everything is disolved.

hi pinky , i tried the same thing and i was very disappointed because mine came out kind of sticky.
everything i sprayed was sticky.
so then i used baking soda+water+2tbl spn of downy.
and it was great. much better -try the baking soda.
