Politics and religion?? Why does the fairy tale of god have any significance in the discussion of real world issues? Are we really that far behind? Makes me ashamed to be an american.
unfortunately in the us, religious affiliation (almost exclusively protestant christianity) is a prerequisite for office - which is downright disconcerting, embarrasing and saddening.
It is imperative that domestic issues be tackled immediately by our next president. The economy is unstable, the stock market is going to crash (trust me here), energy prices are ridiculous, unemployment is atrocious, and healthcare is horrendus.
But first, fix the 2008 budge that YOUR SENATE VOTED FOR! RESTORE THE FUNDING TO PUBLIC RADIO AND TELEVISION! You should be ASHAMED for allowing a 25% cut to PBS/NPR funding.
God isnt an issue in politics but there is some merit to moral issues discussed in the bible and such but we should be more confident in our own laws and constitution.
weither i support the cause in question i dont believe the decitful bullcrap of "god" should be used to futher a political view. Also, Obama for president!
And you quit posting that God is make believe. He isn't. It's unfourtunate that you can't listen to someone who knows God and believe he's with us. And believe me, he's very mad and disappointed with you right now for saying that.
I am here to see what Obama has to say, I visit all the presidential elects you tube sites and none of them have spoke half the truth as Mike Gravel. Ron Paul tries to but he seems to have a untrustworthy aura about him, kinda like he is a puppet and is saying what he thinks the public wants to hear as opposed to Mike who is genuine and tells it how it is. But do not take my word for it go and view the debates, and his interviews on his you tube site and judge for yourself.
A country created so that people could have religious freedom discussing faith politics... is it me or does it really sound paradoxal?
"question that does not belong in political debates."
alyceclover is right. God does NOT belong in political debates. Especially when a country is all about everyone having the right to believe in whatever they want. Forgeting about that and directing your politics to Christians is to do what they fought against many years ago and built this country for.
f anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.
I don't think Jesus wants me to kill myself to become his disciple.
To show how stupid that question is: Both teams playing a baseball game pray to God. Whose side is God on there? (no, the Yankees are not one of the two teams)
Good, but needs polish if he's going to reach out to swing voters. Personally, I wish he'd said: "While it would be both naive and somewhat arrogant of me to assume that I know God's mysterious ways, I hope that I can get closer by being mindful of honesty, concern, charity & freedom."
I think that YouTube is great because you can compare and contrast the candidates more easily. I am subscribing to all of the candidate's YouTube's to see what they have to offer.
well, of course thats great..but you should also always be careful that all the vids came from te candidates... so theres no critism from other persons

Be direct. God and according to apostle Paul wants Christians to be peaceful if possible. That's right "if possible".

Obama's response was outstanding. Not the typical bullshit most Presidential candidates would say.

Funny, if all people were living God's words, there would be no war. Great answer to question that does not belong in political debates.
alyceclover 4 years ago
Obviously you don't know God. God said that there is sin. That's why we have wars. Simple.

What if Jesus negated the Old Testament?
catharsis89 4 years ago
Then we would have to hate our mother and father, sister and brother, spouse, etc. (Luke 14:26)
Oh, and then there is the whole killing the innocent to atone for the not really guilty thing which is basicly the entire New Testament.

Yes, because that passage wasn't symbolic at all.
f anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.
I don't think Jesus wants me to kill myself to become his disciple.
catharsis89 4 years ago
No, not kill yourself, just hate yourself. How do you know that that passage is symbolic? And if it is symbolic, what is it symbolic of?

Perfect answer, especially if he didn't know the question before hand

Presidents need to be neutral on faith. America has more than just one religion. Favoring just one isn't right.

he is completely right on that topic. Seams like it was slightly preplanned, but if not, he is quick on the mark.

Spud luffs the way Barack Obama can be handed a loaded and potentially divisive question and then turn it into a unifying moment. Very Presidential.
