  • This dance is called "Laus". "Hallingdans" is a couple dance. I'm actually from Hallingdal, so there's no need to argue..

  • @InuYashaTard If you really did know, you would now that LAUS is the oposite of dancing BONDE, wich is couple dancing. Laus is dancing solo. Halling can be danced both laus and bonde. And the fact that you ACTUALLY are from Hallingdal just makes you look dumb.

  • This is so cool! Norsk halling er helt rått hvertfall når Hallgrim Hansegår gjør det!

  • Look it up on Wiki, and see which dance i

s traced back further. Halling is traced back to even the medieval times, but Kozachok is trace back to late 16-17th century and is a folk dance from Ukraine.

  • You might want to check your history. "Russia" comes from the Swedish/Norwegian word "rus" -- for red. It was Swedish Vikings who went into Russia and later married into the ruling class of Kiev, for example. So "Mother Russia" owes something to the Nordic Vikings... And the kazachiok may owe more to the Norwegian and Swedish halling (which the Vikings are believed to have danced, according to historical research) than the other way around.

  • well, who influenced who? :)

  • Very impressive. Usually only the younger dancers are able to do the hat trick well. He is a true professional.

  • Hallingkasts (the kick) are not just for "the young". In fact, as dancers mature, they dance better. Hansegaard is not "old". He's still in his prime as a halling dancer. See the YouTube video of him dancing at Landskappleik 2007 -- or, better yet, watch him as one of the backing dancers for Alexander Rybak at Eurovision.

  • I'd like to see a 60 year old try that. I said "younger" but not specify an age. Obviously there is an optimum age for the dance, like any other activity requiring fitness, lightness and pliability.

The Hallingdans is a courting dance, so naturally it is intended for a youthful man to impress a young lady. That's the way of the world.

  • Halling is a DANCE, not an acrobatic contest. Actually, I have seen Norwegian men over the age of 60 (well over, in one case) dance halling. They are not as acrobatic. But acrobatics is just one component of the *dance*. I can assure you that those "older" men are every bit -- even more, sometimes -- flirtatious and playful in the dance then the young guys. They are still able to impress women - young and old. You can bet on it.

  • I think I know where you're coming from. I've made my points and won't argue any further.

  • @mightisright

Alright, he is 50, not 60. But search for "Martin Myhr" and take a look. I can assure you older men can dance laus (laus is the "unofficial" name for halling, if you didn't know), and I can assure you that unless Martin breaks his neck or decides to quit dancing completely, he will be able to do what he does for a long, long time.

I'm actually from Hallingdal. :D I have no clue how to dance, however, but I do know how to "kveda" which is a typical Norwegian type of folk song.

  • Age of Conan er bare best :D!

  • Så nice :D

  • Hahaha, så genialt! blir den ultimate dansen etter å ha drept noen. xD

  • This dance is made for the Cimmerians.

  • About this video in English; A Norwegian old-Fashion dance which we in Norway call Hallingdans, is getting digitalized in the Norwegian-Developed game named Age of Conan. The Dancer is named Hallgrim Hansegård.

  • Spretten kar.

  • sykt fett. Gledxer meg vilt
