i have the same pack. only thing that would make it better would be to get some air between you and it. holds heat, makes for a sweaty back, but still an awesome pack.
@cmack003 Thanks for commenting! Yeah, some of the other packs designs by Badlands have a better ventilation system. To get the best venting pack, I believe a guy has to go with a rigid frame pack.
I have this pack and use it extensively for archery and rifle hunting. I wish the side belt pockets were easier to get into while the pack was on. As for the rifle pouch, it DOES work just fine for a bow. I shoot a mathews drenalin, and the lower cam fits just fine in the pouch, and makes it much more stable, you just want to shorten the straps a little as it keeps the bow from swinging,
Hey, thanks for your input. I heard that in 2012, Badlandsis giving the Superday Pack a makeover! I agree with you about the side pouches and Badlands IS aware of the problem.
Good question... we are not trophy hunters but rather are hunting for the thrill and excitement and of course the meat. Antlers make poor soup. Thanks for the comment!
Yes, the Badlands Backpack Superday model would be a good pack for Elk hunting too. With all the easily accessed pouches, it will easily carry all the gear you need for a day trip. If you pack light, you might even use it for an overnight-er. I have used the pack for both moose and deer and have been very happy with the results. If necessary you can strap a meat load to it, but I think you would want to be sure to carry extra ties or rope with you. Good luck on your Elk hunts.
