Trich is NOT OCD. It is an impulse control disorder. OCD is an anxiety disorder. I hate that nobody seems to understand that!

@nicolemp we have head cases as young as 18 months old. However, the "ONSET OF PUBERTY" is referring to the majority of REPORTED CASES. There are still many who don't know about the disorder or know that they or their children have it. I'm sure that at 3 years old, you didn't wake up one morning and say; "yup I have Trich"? It is our goal to create as much awareness as possible so sufferers can come out and get help. I applaud your courage for speaking out ;-)

This is sooooo untrue. Trich DOES NOT start with the onset of puberty. I started when I was 3. At this point, If you dont have Trich, Stop reporting on it, you are speading falsehoods and harming those of us in the community!

Now that I've seen these videos, it helped me realize that I, too, have this disorder. At the present moment, I don't have any visible bald spots; at least that I'm aware of. I hope that finding these videos will help me to cure it before it gets to be too late, and not make me paranoid about it and have it get worse. I also have Dermatillomania, which is a somewhat similar disorder of picking at the skin. I have this SEVERELY, and am trying to fix it now.

I think I've always had trich, but I never knew what it was, or realized I even had it until I found these videos. I'm always running my fingers through my hair, or twirling it, or touching it, or pulling out baby ones. Even as I'm writing this now, I've caught myself on several occasions playing with it.

I think I had it more severely when I was very young, and I even had a few bald spots at one point. Honestly, I didn't think much of it; I was too young. (Cont...)

I started at 11 or 12...when I found out my mom had cancer again. She passed away when i was 15, and its just gotten worse. I dont think itll ever go away. Im 23 now=(

I suffer from the same problem...i do it when I am relaxed, i only focus on one point of my head at the top in the center. I have createda bald patch, i can cover it up and do not want to stop.

@blondiecatherine okay clearly you're not helping ocd, I would tell a cognitive behavioral therapist that if I were you, you're going to give younger women suffering tricho the wrong idea, not really understand your issues (and I know that's what you were trying to do, and I do understand). But not here, think it through.

I have had Trichotillomania for 20 years. I am 25 almost now I have it in my eyes and eyebrows They are completely bald I wish I could find a cure, but the sourced of it is stress and addiction. I wish l could go into a comma for like a year and treat my body with good meds but I have no health insurance so I know it won't happen Huh maybe if I cut off my thumbs, now there's a cure. Doctors are so damb greedy I hope to find a solution to bad allergic to common store bought eyelash glue it sucks.
