More like 130 rounds. The A10's main gun as a rate of fire of 70 rounds per second and full rpm which is 4200. The maximum load is 1170 of 30mm shells fired out the front and the casings are recycled back into the ammo drum.

The recoil force of the GAU-8/A is 10,000 pounds-force.

But he would have to fire about 50-100 thusend shots to stop in mid air or stall,

with the current max load 1200(about) rounds it will slow the aircraft just a few miles..

And also, the barrels will start to overheat if fired too long (and it is not long) and require inspections, or so I was told.  We did 7 separate firing sets that day; projectiles went into sand. The sand shatters and looks like fine powder afterward. The firing was evaluating that long boom above the gun, not anything being fired at.

Actually GAU-8/A rate of fire is up to 4200 spm. 6k belongs to smaller calibre Gatlings with the exception of Mini-Minigun (5,62 mm) which has up to 10k spm.

No, the A-10 Thunderbolt II doesn't carry the weaker Vulcan, it carries the GAU-8 Avenger which is way more powerful and fires bigger rounds. The Vulcan only fires 20MM rounds. The GAU-8 has 7 barrels while the Vulcan has 6.
