some of these harmonies have a tense quality about them, angular...and i liked some of the phrasing of the lines in the middle section, meandering lines that resolve at the end of a 'round'... 8 )
guys theres a difference between playing frere jaques as a beginners piece where ur a kid (for all of you bashing this vid). The awsome thing here is the arrangement of the piece (which happens to be for 2 guitars). Its actually a very nice and unique arrangemnt and version
A video on what playing the guitar is truely about: Feeling! I love the vibe from listening to this piece, i've watched it a few times over... 5/5 here
the player on the left is 葉登民,my friend said he like to take advantage on the woman...don't be his student....what I said is true.who is Wu You?Never hear before
Thank you, but I can't read the chinese characters.
Wu You is a 15yr old boy who won 2nd prize in the Singapore Guitar Competition in 2006 and 5th prize in the Tokyo Guitar Competition in 2007. He is a very good player.
If you suck at guitar, don't speak... This isn't a conventional version of the song if you listen... And it's not the ease of the song, but how well it is played...
That's Leo Brouwer for you. I was actually surprised at how melodic this piece sounded when it first started out, but then the dissonance kicked in eventually.
These guys made a nice piece of music. Its not about if its hard to play or not, you see? Its a nice tune, even though its just a interpretation its STILL a nice piece of music. You others, keep listening to yngve malmsteen! see ya
you thikn it's easy to play this note for note , the way these guys did? I appeciate the concept, a simple piece can be a great tune but need you say this is easy to play ?
look, this is getting out of hand, you guys keep changing the argument. There just isn't any need for having music in front of your face while playing this song. they just play it through about 8 times, each time it's a little different. What about that guy Esteban, I don't like him but that's beside the matter, he can play a 15 minute version of House Of The Rising Sun without music. Not that that makes him special, anyone could in my opinion, but as an example.
There is a difference between extemporaneous variation and carefully written musical variation. This arrangement is a little more complicated than you're giving it credit for. You can reduce it to 'they're just playing Frere Jacques over and over, but there is a little more to it. Post a video, in the next week, of you playing this particular arrangement with a buddy if it's so terribly uncomplicated.
People who perform guitar while reading music piss me off. There's absolutely no reason to have to read what you're performing, unless you're using it to learn a song, guitarists have no need for sheet music. I think they do it to look more like fancy classical musicians, not just two guys with guitars.
You hit the nail on the head. Also if you are a professional musician you might be learning (up to hours of) complicated music with very limited rehersal time.
Woah, slow down there chief. Let's not stray from the subject here. This song lasts about 2 and a half minutes. That's about half the length of an average song. And limited rehearsal time? Now you're talking crazy. Ok, suppose they didn't have 10 minutes to learn the song. Let's also suppose that the real guitarists were killed in a tragic snowmobile accident and they had to hand the guitars to children. C'mon... limited rehearsal time... What, are they gigging? Sex, drugs, and classical guitar.
Today's average song is a pop song, which is just repeat repeat repeat.
And did you factor in the fact that it's a duet. I played a lot of duets and that's much less obvious to keep track of where you are. I'd say that playing a duet is 10x more difficult than playing a solo piece.
As I said, it's different each time, but the tune is the same. And it should stick in your head to the point where you could play it a hundred different ways without having to think about it.
Sorry, don't buy it. I do play guitar, and I just don't see the need for it. If you can't memorize a song as simple as Frère Jacques then shouldn't be performing it in the first place. Alright, you're right about one thing, you could have the music just in case... No wait, what am I saying, it's Frère Jacques for Christ sakes.
Alright, I await a video of you playing that song in a duet with another guitarist. :o If it's that simple. Don't let the name fool you, whatever song you do, you can make it as simple as you want or as difficult as you want.
have you ever tried playing complicated classical music? i admit i rarely use music to perfrom to but guitarists can be classical musician and playing a 16 page concerto (not that this is what these guys are doing) kinda need music
some of these harmonies have a tense quality about them, angular...and i liked some of the phrasing of the lines in the middle section, meandering lines that resolve at the end of a 'round'... 8 )
