you know what, this is actually one of my favorite songs ever bcz it looks at things from a different perspective, and it covers a taboo subject in music: politics. Musicians are allowed to have a political stance, and it is their right to express their thoughts through their medium. To all those saying this isn't third eye blind....of course it is dumbass! Just bcz u don't like it don't make it any less their song!
Can't remember whose comment it was, but it's impossible for any well known band to "escape the Hollywood Ideology". Otherwise they wouldn't be known. Exposure and the Hollywood Ideology go hand in hand.
I'm an absolute third eye blind fanatic, but honestly I think this song is pretty bad, not really instrumentally, but definitely lyrically. I just think that bands should produce good meaningful music and stop diving into politics.
@cramdizzl how can you say that? Do you even understand the meaning of this song? I dont think you know how to listen to a song, I dont understand how you can be a third eye blind fanatic and not like this song! It is my favorite because it is a great musical song and the lyrics are awesome.
This song is great but all this "Democrat" / "Republican" / "Conservative" / "Liberal" crap has to stop, in the USA there is only one party, and it is the fuck you party. Guess what? We're not in it.
It's like a baseball team, you have two groups that can manage it, but at the end of the day they are still running it with the intent of playing baseball. One management group isn't going to suddenly change the team to a hockey team. Quit using the labels the controlled media places on everything.
You don't have to be a democrat to understand and appreciate this song, it doesn't matter what political allegiance you have, this song is about all the things that are fake in our world, how people are fake, and all the problems that our society has, anybody who appreciates humanity can appreciate this song
@pooty050 here is the first step - Conservatives and those raised as such do not understand sarcasm of this form. Perhaps that is how it is supposed to shake-out.
Oh Stephan Jenkins... Bypassing the fiscal responsibilities of the nation by continously over-emphasizing the social issues of the country. It's amazing how Hollywood always trumps the overall importance of common sense decisions in the United States.
@pooty50 There's a difference between not understanding what the song is about and realizing that it's really, really stupid. These are the corniest, most uninspired lyrics I've ever heard. It reads like a twelve year old's diary. I can't tell if he's joking with all of the stupid cliches in the song, but it's clear you're serious. Listen to something else. Anything.
I really have no good reason to think of why I like this song, I like most of of the content but I think it's just a sweet simple jam, I miss that in music today.
modern american society is pretty scrambled, the only constant value is getting rich & famous, at whatever expense it takes - giant corporations are trying to devise products to sell to everybody, stuff that is unhealthy - things are pretty far gone, what each person needs to do is discern what is of true value in life & between people, & then put together a lifestyle that gives them what they need to be good happy loving humans - plus fighting the power, by complaint, activism, boycott, voting
@TheThekenny Because lady gaga is just music for the masses. Feel good songs, while a song like this makes you think, which is something that most people are not willing to do. gagas music has no real meaning while songs like this make you think about the world around you.
they are only under rated because they played back in the 90's everyone knows who they are they just havent come out with anything new and made a name for themselves to the younger generation
@bmcdaniel9 They are under rated, but i think theyre sooo good because no one really listens to them except for a few of us. if everyone was jamming to them, we'd get sick of the posers and the band would lose its magic. Unspoiled rock at its finest
it just sucks that they dont make as much money, even though they dont care that much about it. lol

@shaketherake I think the point was to just scratch the surface of all the bad crap that has been going on since they last came out with a CD. I understand your point, but I think lyrically retarded is taking it was too far... Overall its a fun song, not Stephans best work obviously.
This song is lyrically retarded. Pick a subject. We all know the world is full of bad shit. Why not show some creativity and knowledge, and go into depth. If you think religion is bull I'm sure you have more to say than a couple lines. Want to talk about animal cruelty, know a little more than what your friend of a friends who is a member of PETA told you. STD's? Yeah they're bad who doesn't think that. Why not say how they are bad? Gay Republicans...way to offend your parents. Lame.
Let me start by saying 3eb is in my top 3 favorite bands, but Stephan's Japanese is painful to listen to, and the line "you can't buy yourself a soul"... isn't he the one who should be searching for a soul. Conniving bastard.
@cody8804 No claim to be genius. Just happened to be listening to my favorite playlist and messing around on youtube. With a couple drinks down or more I was just expressing my feelings at the time. No mean to ruffle feathers. Was never the best in english class. Cheers.
Stephen Jenkins will always have a piece of my heart
It's different when you've been front row at a Third Eye Blind concert screaming the lyrics and Stephen is throwing flowers into the audience and burning incense on an Oriental rug.
Yup, true statistic!. Syphilis and gonorrhea are making a comeback to the STD world after being having fairly low numbers of infection in many years. Whee.

I get this song. It's just a retarded, dated, gay, emotionless, worthless expression of a smug, talentless english tool. I don't care what your political or social views are. This song is the product of mental density and a preachy heart.
"And two gay guys got married and brought the family to it's knees. How did they blow us to smithereens? Just a couple of queens. How did they do it? I'm telling you now they brought marriage to an end. And I found myself some culprits and it's two young, gayrepublicans."
Can anyone explain to me how this is NOT homophobic? Obviously I'm stupid because I just don't get how that's fair at all. o.O

fucking shit, i just read the lyrics and it's the same "oh, bush is evil, media wants your organs, there's a man on a pulpit. look at me, i'm so much cooler then you cuz i're libuhreal DERP DERP". How's this shit even deep or original. is it the milk substitute metaphor for false? NO. fuck you, fuck you and die in a pit.
i hate it when bands have to bring politics into their lyrics...i'm a huge 3eb fan and i understand the majority of hollywood is very liberal but i can't stand this song....
Wow, you may have posted the most idiotic statement about this band I've ever heard.
I'm really not sure how you can be a "huge 3eb fan" and not understand that this band has always emoted their political feelings, which are clearly to the left.
Yeah, I guess I'm just too stupid to understand it. You ball sack. You wait four weeks to post something so lame. You must be a real fucking genius. How old are you 14? I have been a fan of this band since day one, and let me tell you, the reason I dont like the song has nothing to do with my comprehension of the lyrics. Get a job.
Yeah, I totally saw your comment four weeks ago and waited that long to say something. Oh lordy am I afraid of you. Sure that's not the reason, blockhead. Go cough on dick, you're an idiot and probably a Republican to boot.
Let's do this just one more time. You are obviously a child who has too much time on his hands. These comments come directly to my e-mail account, at WORK, so since I have a minute or two during lunch hour I can respond. Grow up, it's a song, and you're far too immature to understand anything in this life anyway, like the complicated messages behind songs with depth. Don't comment back, I get it, you're the coolest kid on Youtube. Congrats.
okay i think i have a good analysis of this video. think about the song. their stating some facts about this world today. some kid walks into my school and opens fire theres been some past stories about similar things. STD's i think are rising in teenage girls. you just have to see that their not bashing on republicans, i think it was that the gay marriage vote won by two people. just listen to what they say in the song.

I find it both funny and depressing when pop stars, athletes, and actors make political proclamations. Providing political funding is fine, but I think they should leave the broad generalizations at home. Unfortunately, they are usually not the most brilliant people and hence to not tend to make the smartest statements.

@shizzzbiscuit what pooty050 said is indeed what the song is about . . . you can interpret however you want . . . but the basic idea of the song is exactly as pooty050 said it was

fucking shit, i just read the lyrics and it's the same "oh, bush is evil, media wants your organs, there's a man on a pulpit. look at me, i'm so much cooler then you cuz i're libuhreal DERP DERP". How's this shit even deep or original. is it the milk substitute metaphor for false? NO. fuck you, fuck you and die in a pit.

Wow. On one hand, the tune is catchy and I like the energy. On the other hand, dear god, please never let Jenkins write protest lyrics again XD
AND WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME 3EB WAS TOURING WITH AJIKAN ;;_;; I weep forever XD

i hate it when bands have to bring politics into their lyrics...i'm a huge 3eb fan and i understand the majority of hollywood is very liberal but i can't stand this song....
Wow, you may have posted the most idiotic statement about this band I've ever heard.
I'm really not sure how you can be a "huge 3eb fan" and not understand that this band has always emoted their political feelings, which are clearly to the left.
Go listen to Creed douche.

Get a job.
TheBoyNxDoor22 2 years ago 3

Congrats.

I am pretty cool and you're still an idiot. So... yeah.

Its called appealing to the masses, everyband does it eventually.
Money > Opinion
duhh
This song is a contradiction to themselves
Yuadio 2 years ago
okay i think i have a good analysis of this video. think about the song. their stating some facts about this world today. some kid walks into my school and opens fire theres been some past stories about similar things.

Unfortunately, they are usually not the most brilliant people and hence to not tend to make the smartest statements.
cbowGSA9 2 years ago
I agree
BeASimpleMan 2 years ago
it is a really good song, you gotta respect over-the-top political statements, even if you don't agree with them. it's just raw and beautiful.
