I'm sorry but just like Chuck Schuldiner, Dave Mustaine is one of the most original songwriters of all time. Listen to a song like Good Mourning.. Black Friday, or Mary Jane, or Holy Wars. All very good written and in MY opinion at the same level as albums like Symbolic or Sound of Perseverance. Human and Thought Patterns take just one step further in terms of instrumentals. But they are quite close to eachother in terms of songwriting. Dont underestimate Mustaine.

Chucks voice is a lot...higher, I guess you could say, live than in studio. On the album his voice is deeper and more growly than shrieky. Either way, he is still awesommee.

All live performances of pre-Symbolic stuff before Symbolic was released sounds EXACTLY like it does on the record. Look up any previous live gigs.

If you look at Chuck's official site his mother does a Q&A section. One of the questions was on the vocal changeup. All she said is that Chuck used to do those vocals in the bands early EARLY days (like before recordings) and she never understood why he used the guttural vocals until he "switched back" to his original vocals during Symbolic-The Sound of Perserverance era.
