  • wtf is toastmaster i thought the hole time is a machine you do toast things lol

  • @thepetro100 lol

  • NICELY done!

  • He got a standing ovation. The audience loved it. Admittedly "in" jokes but funny nonetheless

  • Great job! I love your speech!

  • haha this is awesome

  • He doesn't believe in addressing the audience at the beginning or end. This is a must, out of respect for the audience, which he obviously lacks, and competent judges would have deducted many points on this issue alone. The mere fact that he won the contest reveals the incompetency of the judges. The artificial laughter coming from the audience is because they don't want to appear to be stupid by not laughing. There. I've said it. Prove me wrong!

  • @MrCommonsense743 , I feel many a times its the situation that makes the speech funny. This particular speech I guess was for a specific audience. Unless it is standup or one liners General audience may miss the context around which the speech is delivered. I heard his World championship winning speech it was awesome.

  • @rrcracy Thanks for your response. Still the laughter was forced, for the reason I had outlined.

  • 3 Dislikes Take this .!.

  • A world champion who need prompt note, WTF.

  • @Djinnmeister Right on. I am in much agreement with your comment. Read mine above! The audience did not understand his G.I. joke, but they laughed, because they felt it politically correct. Only one funny...was the "gesture" joke. That was cute.

  • @Djinnmeister you may be surprised to know that news organisations and even the president give almost all speeches using a teleprompter. So perhaps you just need to get out a bit more :)

  • @kckmkq Thats BS. David Cameron gave a good hours speech with no prompts. Comedians like billy connolly do not use prompts. I've seen many great speakers use no external prompts. Their material is in their head or they are so present in the moment they feed back from the audience. And may I remind you that when Obama's teleprompter broke he was totally at a loss. So, you go an get out a bit more.

  • Love the "blue shirt'"

  • He was for sure in the zone! Class act!

  • I have watched this video over and over. I liked it and it is very funny. It is not like a usual toastmasters speech. As with Darren's back ground,it is a stand up comedy. great audience reaction.

  • Contrived body language and forced humour. Not funny.

  • @edinahakze He cracked me up, I would love to see you top it!

  • @edinahakze You are right on target with that one. Only one funny! The gesture joke, Give him credit for one creative comment. That's as far as it goes. Artificially, contrived laughter.

  • Contrived body language and forced humour. Not funny.

  • I am so doing this

  • im a member of toastmaster n last week won the best speaker award ....in one of our meeting.....yupieee

  • The only time he used a filler was when he meant to use one? His timing was incredible. I thought he was funny. His speech was targeted for a very specific audience. This speech is only funny to other toastmasters. I liked it.

  • 2:41 and not at all funny or clever...kind of predictable actually. I give up.

  • @robandre1 I find him hilarious...Bring it.

  • Funny from the get go, insired me to post my 1st try in a humorous contest w/ toastmasters as the subject.

  • Awesome speech!

  • I am currently taking a public speaking class in school, and one of my final projects was to evaluate a speech done by a professional speaker. I think that this speech would be an amazing speech to evaluate. I have nothing bad to say about this speech, and everything good. This speech was so funny that I laughed so hard and woke my daughters up from their nap. LOL.. Awesome speech Darren!!!!!!!!!

  • Other people comment that he's a great speaker. I can't hear him!

  • Funny as - clever bloke!

  • awesome!

  • Darren does a great job of fully using the stage! He starts out up front and in the middle and then uses the rest of the stage as his speech progresses. Nicely done!

  • I can't hear it... It's turned all the way up...???

  • Somehow his intonation reminds me of Stephen Colbert...

  • This guy is great. Someone to follow...

  • Incredible!

  • I am Co-Chair for the District 73 Annual Convention to be held in Perth, Western Australia May 20-22 2011. This is an amazing speech to explain the "Toastmaster Junkies". I'll be sharing this with the district.

  • Hi.. my name's Lee and I'm a TOASTMASTER-HOLIC!!! Thanks for sharing your speech. Totally awesome!!

  • funny

  • I was planning on attending my first toastmasters meeting tonight and after seeing this, I'm leaving work early to make sure I'm not late. Love to see funny and clean speach's like this one.

  • @crfranchises1 - How did you like your first meeting and did you join Toastmasters?

  • You ain't kidding. I gave up trying to explain it. When I told my mom I was going to a toastmaster's meeting she thought I was joining a breakfast club

  • Toastmasters Rocks! As do you, Mr LaCroix... ~eResumes4Vips

  • You are not only funny but a great actor. You demonstrate great ways to entertain an audience, most importantly speaking to your audience in a language they understand better than anyone else. It is so hard to give someone like Darren LaCroix feedback!

Not sure why you had a script. Seemed like unnecessary notes.
