Wonderful - this takes me back. I had forgotten about it until one of my work colleagues mentioned it and now I cannot get it out of my head. Thank you so much for posting - what a fabulous tune :)
Hi thanks for the upload I used to listen to Val Doonican this when I was a kid back in the late 80's lol and I completely forgot until out of the blue the other day.
@TheLeelad yeh ... no probs. I use Widows Movie Maker (which is free in with your Windows operating system) for linking the pictures or vids with the music. All the image alterations are made in an old version of Paintshop. This was one of my first uploads so I have learnt a few things since this'un.
@piwi3434 i only knew this song from about 2007-2008 when me and my uncle would randomly search through youtube vids/songs and just laugh... good times, maybe we'll do that again this year 8)
@kayleegirl4 that's nice, and yeah i'm sure you will :). i do that with other video's as well, i think it's funny finding a video that makes you laugh :D
I nearly bought a car just like this, back in 1974. It looked like a sports MG, and it had been put together with a variety of pieces. It was very tempting, but we took life a lot more seriously in those days.
I remember standing in the car yard, with the used car dealer, and we all marveled at how it cost only ½ the price of a brand new car, and yet, looked so marvelous, and very romantic.
Amazingly, our State government registered the car. Oh, for the days or innocence and optimism.
Hi Rikky. I just want to tell you that just as much as I enjoy the songs you pick to post, I also love your accompanying graphics. Well done mate. I eagerly await your next one.
Have you seen all the Rolf Harris vids? You might enjoy them. oh ... and there is a new Val Doonican vid called The Jarvey is a Leprechaun to have a butchers at!!!
ive just watched this again ,and if i ever meet RicKKyhardo in a pub the drinks are on me,all his mates as well, fantastic video, took a lot of working out ,absolutely BRILLIANT!!
now man ... that statement deserves an answer (only trouble is I drink at home now, pub prices is over me head) so a bottle of single malt sent to this address .... ha ha.
Seriously, ta for your applause phantomxr, this was my third or fourth youtoob vid, back in the days when I did loads of photoshopping to the pics and used Dr Who stuff for me grandsons excitment. Me favourite bit is O'Rafferty on top of the GPO.
Some people are saying 'bring em back' here. Well, most of Val's songs are traditional you know and, in that sense, will last forever. Val was popular in the early 60's with this sort of humorous song and, well, let's face it, the 60's were great fun times and perhaps it's salad days like that, that will never return.
I am only 17, and I love this song. Great memories of playing this at my grans and my sister and i running around dancing to it, I say BRING THESE SONGS BACK!!
perhaps the guy was talking about a taut piece of wire ... hey spelling shouldn't be a big issue nowadays with texting and all that ... lyk if u spk lyk dis ... ;-) ... hey whatever ... maybe I should have stayed stum, and thanx to all you people what have said thanks for the vid ... it makes it all worth while ... keep clicking
absolutely fantstic song... so funny... long live the irish.lol.........and val doonican of cource.... my father taught me this song...when i was 10 and im now 50
i sing all val doonican songs 2 my 3 month old niece, n she giggles her little head off lol plus hes ma grandad's uncle's cousin lol iiideal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanx 4 puttin them up m8, brings bk lots of childhood memories
Yah it should be on Top gear ... but they are mean b ... people on the BBC ... so I guess you ain't seen it SuperMalcKeeling ... and thanks for the comment
Hard to believe now, but dear old Val was a fixture of Saturday night TV for a while in the 70s and would always end by doing a number from his rocking chair. He didn't always sing joke songs - the fantastic What Would I Be narrowly missed the number one spot in 1966, and of course he hit with Walk Tall and Elusive Butterfly as well.
Another fantastic tribute to VD from Rikkyhardo (who does not have VD I hasten to add).
"Two wheels were triangular and one wheel from a pram, and the other one cane off of a Dublin tram". They don't do lyrics like that any more. Take note James Blunt, and pick yer socks up.
WAIT FOR THE DROP !! wooomp wommp !
