This wonderful version of the "Ave Maria" was the reason I finally started to take singing lessons again after almost 30 years. A. Heynis sings it really touching.
does anyone know where to find the music for this... not like a sketch free downloadable version but something reputable... i'd like to sing this for my college audition piece
@kkeeling2010 You have probably already discovered the answer to your question, but for what is is worth, she has a Philips album Of Bach, Handel, Brahms etc. Would also recommend the Brahms choral works and Overtures, with Wolfgang Sawallisch, (also Philips) where you will be able to enjoy her sublime version of the alto rhapsody.
This is indeed a beautiful recording of a grand yet modest artist. Aafje Heynis is certainly a singer who has been largely and undeservedly unappreciated for her lovely voice and dedicated artistry. How splendid that such a person should have capped her career by teaching and how fortunate indeed must her students have been to have the guidance of such a beautiful soul as hers.

Beautifully done!

I don't know too many contraltos who can sing that F#5 without straining.

Aafje's voice is so full and warm sounding that she did not need the hokey back-up, which only detracts from her exquisite singing.

I love her somewhat nervous timbre, her perfect diction and her warm voice.
She is very underrated, even in her homeland: the Netherlands.
