If you've actually researched anything about these guys, you'll know they've trained for YEARS in ballet schools across the world! So their feet bleed as much as anyone elses when being en pointe!
I think what textme665 is trying to say is that we ballerinas work so hard to get variations like this done and look absolutely flawless and beautiful. We train countless hours and work our butts off. I can see where a ballerina could be offended by this because it is someone making fun of our art, our passion. Yes, these men have worked countless hours, too, but they do it so they can make fun of what we love.
they are also professional dancers and they are really way too good...and i think that there is nothing that should make you feel offended...because they made ballet a bit less serious? i don't think that this is a good reason for complaining
i guess it sounded a bit...yeah whatever. I never argued, i agreed with cobarules, it is that i just wanted to argue with the rest that had a problem with trocks...it was just a misunderstanding :D
I think it's incredibly tacky that they would recycle the stage name of Lee Walsh, who was probably the best dancer the Trocks ever had, after he died of AIDS.
Trockadero sucks..their talentless "director" Dobrin stole this joke from Les Grands Ballets de Loony. Never had an original idea in his life..no wonder they all run to grandiva. Wants power without the talent to go with it...boob.
O please if you cannot respect the discipline it takes for a dancer any Dancer male or female to poke fun at themselves then seriously you need to re-evaluate your life.
The Trocs as we fondly call them are excellent dancers. Besides that do you know how painful it is to dance onpoints, obviously not as then you'd have respect for any dancer who can do that as well as they do.
@SXTZ It's "trocks", as in "the trucks", the internationally famous spot in the West Village where gay men used to have sex. It was a double-entendre.
That's what I've been trying to do! but I can't find any freeware who allows me to download full DVD clips to my computer. Can you recommend me of any, by any chance? :D
EXTERMINATOR105 is so wrong this is my favorite trockadero piece us dancers need to laugh at ourselves so we don't get so wrapped up in our artform that we forget comedy exists
OMG, I know I shouldn't be laughing... but this is just HILARIOUS. I really loved the idea for the costume though. (: the feathers dropping like that is lovely.
xD lol, I know it was for the laugh, but at first I thought it was a disgrace until I noticed it was a parody... (: It took me awhile to figure that out, haha.
thank you for posting though! It was nice to have a laugh.
Who exactly is the dead diva in question? His stage name is Ida Nevesayneva (Never Say Never ring any bells?) and his technique and expression is really good, as all of his fellow dancers' of course...
I would gladly say it to ANYONE'S face. This queen seems to think that putting on a tutu and make-up, making idiotic faces and dropping feathers is funny. IT IS NOT. There's much more to it than that. It saddens me to watch this, knowing how fabulous the company once was. The Trocks should have hung it up years ago, but I wouldn't expect an asshole like Gene McDougle to understand that.
9. Prima ballerinas require discipline, commitment, poise, and perfect eye shadow-not necessarily in that order.
10. If a ballerina drops dead backstage or accidentally gets locked in a broom closet, always be prepared to jump into her costume. And please remember: Never say never.
Carman, Joseph. "Divas & Dudes: Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo." Dance Magazine February 2007: 46-48.
6. Always complete your makeup with large Ballet Russe red dots in the medial corners of your eye sockets. They help to evoke inconsolable grief in The Dying Swan or rage in La Bayadère when, as Gamzatti, you smack Nikiya upside the head.
7. With age, backs can turn into ironing boards, arches become petrified and extensions may lose their oomph. But port de bras and mannerisms are forever.
8. If you splat face down center stage, crawl gracefully offstage on all fours-in character.
3. If you start to lose your focus during your 32 fouettés, spot the patron in the fifth row center-the Russian guy who owns several corporate conglomerates. It helps.
4. Your eyebrows are capable of expressing 73 subtle emotions. Use them liberally.
5. If your bows and ovations don't clock longer than the coda of the piece you just danced, you flopped. Back to the corps.
I actually think incorporating the falling feathers would make a wonderful addition to the actual dramatic performances of this piece.

ya but they r still making fun of such a beautiful and respected dance
textme665 3 years ago 3
actually they are only making fun of the art form and things that may happen on the stage. We have to have a sense of humor about ourselves, dont we?
robertantonnyc 3 years ago 5
seriously, no they aren't
like robertantonnyc said, these guys train just as much as anyone else.
No doubt their feet bleed just as much as our's do.

FYI the trocs have been responsible for bringing ballet to those people who'd never have thought of going to see one, and that is an achievement.
By the way I am a dancer/ performance artist and I really do respect the trocs.
They are after all what entertainment is all about, for the masses and not for bigotted intellectual snobs.
So just sit back and enjoy the spectacle and if not then don't watch it, so simple is it not! :-)

Ida Nevasayneva's Tips for Developing Your Diva Skills
1. Always hold the arabesque balance at the end of your
variation until whichever screams first-the audience or your bunions.
2. Don't allow anything or anyone to upstage your lipstick, mascara, or tiara. Remember that your face is always your center of gravity.
