JUST MISSED!!! "Yesterday's Songs" just missed making the Billboard's Hot Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 15 weeks in the Hot Top 100 in 1981/82, it entered the charts on Nov. 7th, 1981. It was also Mr. Diamond's 48th record in make the Top 100!!!
A beautiful song by Neil Diamond. I am 52 and I grew up hearing his songs on the radio all the time. As an adult I appreciate his music so much. He still sounds so great and he continues to entertain his fans year after year and has been performing now since 1966 - 46 years. A talented singer and song writer. He is a true legend in the music business and one of the most successful performers of all time. His songs are so timeless and continue to bring so much pleasure to all his loyal fans.
I am now 36, I was around 20-21 when I first heard this song...Songs such as these evokes memories of yesterdays gone by...The voice of Neil Diamond will always remind of my youth....Yesterdays songs ..they are the best
I am 36 years old and this was always on the radio in the mornings. Mon parents loved this and I see way. Real music, real songs, real feeling. Todays music has no heart and no talet. I am exposing my 12 year old daughter to as much of this kind of music. Barry Manillow, Barbra, Neil, Carpenters, Classic 70's. Hope I miss these times
My upbringing was Neil Diamond and The Little River Band thanks to my dad and also Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin thanks to (may she RIP) my mom. My father had this album On the Way to the Sky on cassette. This song opened the album. I also grew up on The Who, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Iron Maiden and other bands. I always had a soft spot for artists like Neil and Barry Manillow but don't say much to people about it.
don't no exactly but its one of these three, julia or maxine waters or linda press. they are credited on the album its from. hope that helps but proberly not

Who was the girl backup singer?
DaveWollenberg 2 years ago
It's Maxine. I saw Neil Diamond in Concert and he had Maxine and Julia and Linda Press as backup vocals. Maxine has a highter voice than Julia

Nice tune, but it sounds like a loose rewrite of Sinatra's "Summer Wind."
