What is iShowU?

iShowU is a screen recording utility that allows you to create videos of what you do on your computer, audio input included. One thing to note, though, is you need to pay for it if you don't want the "iShowU" thing up there. I'm trying to find an open source substitute. I don't want to pay $20 for something that I believe is free for Windows (I could be wrong about that, too, though).
