I have been at this battle for about 4 hours now and I can't get past the first. I don't know what it is, I can petrify one but the second refuses to go!

Oh, i forgot to mention i'm only doing a lvl 1 playthrough and not the fast paced excalibur II playthrough.

ugh!! these 2 fights are such a pain at lvl 1. good thing i loaded up on potions playing the chocobo hot & cold game ; )

oh...... well thats baddd but u could have gotten a virus while baatling the plant brain.I'm stupid it took me 15 secs to how to spell while..

Plant Brain doesn't show up until Disc 4. The first place you can get Virus is Meltigemini on disc 3.

Yeah, sorry, Plant Brain doesn't give you virus though. I Wasn't really thinking about what you said. The important thing is that you can't get virus until Meltigemini.

I thought you were able to get virus before then. So basically what you're doing is stealing what you need, and running from everything else. Steal what you can and sell it in town to get loads of cash to keep buying the potions that you need. That way you don't have to finish a fight and level up.

Also, throwing Tents at the mages has a 50% chance of poisoning/blinding/silencing them, just quickly throw an antidote at them so they don't die, then they'll be mostly harmless & you can concentrate on petrifying and stealing (they carry tents and phoenix downs). Just mentioning that for anyone attempting this. Nice videos, can't wait to see more.

You can skip the second forced battle by dashing for the stairs while keeping to the left, without stopping. If you want to get all the Gizamaluke Bells then you can come back after getting the Oak Staff, you have to anyway. The mages will still be there any time on Disc 1, and Stop is much more effective than the Needle Fork+Add Status.

How do you get through the Bell door without getting the bell from the Black Mage?

And I don't like using expensive items (tents) which MIGHT help in fights which really aren't that hard anyway

Never mind. You can apparently get 2 Gizamaluke's Bells from the fallen soldier.

Yeah I forgot to mention the second bell... assumed it was common knowledge. Anyway, I don't consider the tents a loss because you can usually steal them right back from the mages. But they aren't necessary, just makes things a lot less frustrating.
