NEVER PUT A SINGLE ID SHARK WITH BIGGER COMMUNITY FISH!
i have a problem. my id shark wont grow??? i bought him at 2inches and is now about 5inches in a 75 with goldfish and he wont grow?? i bought catfish half his size three months ago and they are now all the same size would you suggest aby thing? nice vid too
How very nice of you to create a neon-natural environment for him. Ever consider the fact that he might...maybe...possibly... need some sort of darkness in his life since he is naturally a predator???
@TheFishKeeper100 I wouldn't put it with your piranhas because your piranhas would eat it. And I wouldn't put it with the jack dempseys either. I have a 30 gallon tank which is about 60 litres and that would be fine for the iridescent shark. You could fit about 2 for a couple of months.
Wow I was about to buy one of those today, but it was very little. They told me it would get to be about three feet...but I think i would end up being scared of it!
they are NOT ment to be alone in a tank...they need atleast one friend in their with them...preferably another id shark..they lay at the bottom of the tank when they are exhausted, scared, or injured.....they also need a LOT of space to swim around..anyone of u who owns them knows they swim very fast and occasionaly ram themselves into the glass when spooked...keeping them alone in a tank is not only dumb but its cruel
meh i kind of concur..i think they just swim around fast because there happy...because when i change the water he gets uncomfortable for about three dats and just sits at the bottom then hell start doing all the stuff the other fish do even when hes not spooked..hll just randomly swim aroud the tank super fast..the reason they ram into the sides is because they cant see very well
I have an iridescent shark and he is just itty bitty..... I thought they die of organ failure at a young age..... But this and many other videos makes me see different!
ghost knife fish are a bad idea...esp if the id sharks are smaller than the knife fish.....found that out the hard way.....they get along great with mollys, rasboras, and furcatas so long as the id shark is introduced into the tank last
id sharks, when they are young are very temperamental .....mine used to sit at the bottom of the tank and flop on his side and just float even.........if u approach the tank to quickly or make any movement thats quicker than he could predict, he would do that.....so i tried keeping the food further away doing everything a lil slower for the first 3-4 months and then they're aight.....hope that helps
I had one in a 20 gallon till it was 7'' then I got a 350 gallon with 2 of them one was 6'' and the first one was 12'' then the first one got to 2 feet long and the second one was 15" so I gave them away to a friend that had a 800 gallon tank...Don't buy them unless you can afford a lot!
If you really want to know about this iredescent shark, it should be housed in a large pond or 1000 gallon tank because these monsters will get to 4 feet or even larger NO LIE!!
Oh God. Today i just bought a ID Shark its 3inches and i have a 36 gallon tank but the pet store said they will grow to 8 inches at the max ! looks like ill have to find him a new home in the next year or so ...
they are simalar looking but not the same, the ireddescent( Pangius Catfish) is a plant eater and semi skiddish fish depending on local of tank, the paroon is an agressive meat eater, if you look at the dorsal fin you'll see the diffrence, irridescent slopes back at the rear of the fin, paroon goes straight up
Sorry, I don't think they are. Mine is not, he doest not do any harm to any fish LOL. Maybe if he is starving or suffering from lack of food =( then he might attack.
He really enjoy pleco food like the algae wafers any brand will do it. When he is really hungry he will eat brineshrimp you can find them at petsmart.
He looks amazing! Nice! :)
