  • I notice that cats and whales can smile! We should try to give them something to smile about! I also notice that CA's air is cleaner these days! Thanks CA!!

  • This is a beautiful song. It's just sad that some think we should save whales and seals etc. and kill the children. I'm sure that many who express outrage over the plight of the whales are "pro-choice."

  • It is not too late. Come one folks, we can save the whale. Stop the bull shit. Boycot anything from any county that kills whales. Japan & iceland must be held accountable. We are human, we are not ants.

    John Donaldson

  • orcas are a type of dolphin and theyre called killer whales because, get this, they kill whales.

  • The sad thing is that this CSNY Tour took place back in 79 or so......saw it in Seattle. Here we are in almost 2012.

  • This song is sooooo beautiful, thanks!

  • Les jeux de voix même pas besoin d'instruments de musique ou si peu. Exceptionnelle.!!!

  • shoot these stupid animals, why just harpoon em

  • @betover68 SOMEONE SHOULD HARPOON YOU, AND NOT GIVE YOU THE LUXURY OF A BULLET!

  • @betover68 SIR YOU ARE NOTHING BUT GARBAGE.I BET YOU ARE A TEA PARTY PERSON. SO SO SICK YOU ARE

  • i can't believe i found this song!! had this album when i was 16 and played this song over and over....what beauty and how great is it that they got recordings of real whale sounds!

  • I always think of John Cleese: "I love animals. That's why I like to kill 'em."

  • At 1:48 it becomes a completely different tune, and really easy on the ears.

  • they will come back when humans are extinct. Always has happened..

  • one person either hit teh wrong button or is a whale killer

  • anybody who kills whales should be hanged in public - sorry - it is what it is

    oneexseal

  • I hate human.

  • This song always sent a harpoon through my heart. Haunting. Haunting me...

  • sweet harmonies...arrangement

  • thanks dad

  • Just saw Crosby and Nash live...love this song

  • One person should be harpooned.

  • @VEGANSAM It was probably a plankton

  • A materpiece... Period.

  • Watch "Parrots, the universe and everything" on youtube - a lecture by Douglas Adams(!) on endangered species. It's truly inspirational.

  • Maybe we'll all disappear

  • so sad. Lovely singing. Will anything arouse the population to take back the world?

  • A tribute to one of the mightiest creatures of this planet. Its indeed a shame they have to die. Thanks Graham Nash for composing such a beautifull song.

  • STOP KILLING THESE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES NOW. DID YOU HEAR ME ICELAND AND JAPAN . STOP NOW.

  • Anyone else catch the basking shark at 3:37? We still kill them (sharks) for horrible things but it is not a whale... :P No worries. One of my favorite songs.

  • Heard this song years ago, when I was a little child. I never understood the lyrics.

    Now I do.

I want to go back tot the time I didn't understood it. At that time, I felt safe. Now not anymore...

  • @REMLostmyreligion THANK GOD YOU HAVE WAKEN UP.

  • This song is so under rated.

  • This song devastates me. Humans are by far the worst cruelest animals on earth. All the other species and the earth itself could go on for eons if we didn't exist. With our careless devastation of the planet I am ashamed to be apart of the human race!.

  • @lenoresander As a person whose in his 50's the only thing I can remember growing up in the 60's was WAR, throughout my life its always been WAR, Enstein said it best, "You cannot prepare for War and Peace at the same time".

  • @lenoresander Not all humans are assholes

  • @lenoresander It's 'a part'...now go live with a Honey Badger for awhile or do something constructive toward coexistence. Maybe then you will a little pride in yourself...Human.

  • STOP KILLING THESE BEAUTFUL CREATURES. HOW HAVE THEY EVER HURT HUMANS. F THE JAPS AND ICELAND HUNTERS. I HOPE THEIR BOATS SINK

  • I'm absolutely against whale hunting but those beautiful church choir harmonies at the beginning from David and Graham always make me reflect on my past, my regrets, the time that I wasted. I'm a good person who could''ve done a whole lot better. I know I'm sounding self-ish, please forgive me. That beginning always puts me in that mood.

  • @libraryquiet

what the hell. this is about whales. hahaha

  • @ellebane I know it's about whales! Don't be so narrow minded. A good piece of music and vocals is just that!! Good! The beginning can be played at a church, nightclub or a funeral and it'll fit. The beauty of the human voice can trigger all kinds of feelings and emotions whether it's about whales, trains, faucets or stars.

  • @libraryquiet

    what the hell?

  • This songs been with me since I had to pluck it's title from credits of a long forgotten movie. My sense of time is awful, but its been 10 years or more.. I've been fan of Whale Wars (Animal Planet) from day 1, but not in 5 years did I look for it until tonight. Poignant as it was, it is so much more now, knowing none of the products in the lyrics (or any others) require we slaughter these majestice creatures, but staggaring numbers still taken annually for human consumption as a delicacy.

  • Wails of whales

    they swim the seas

    with power and grace

    masters of this open space

it is time for man to stay on land

    and leave the waters

    to these nobles, grand

    karen lyons kalmenson

  • @karenfayekal beautiful!!! thank you

  • @deb19able

    thank you...

inspired by the beauty of this most majestic creature

  • hauntingly beautiful...God Save our Gulf shores and all the animals living in it

  • Too bad the republicans puppet for corporations that mindlessly strip the environment.

  • stirring

  • let's see what the gulf oil spill does!

  • so sad about the gulf oil spill.......we will pay for that for decades to come

  • Masterpiece

  • Also check out Crosby,Stills, and Nash "Wooden Ships" live 1977 on youtube, It is by far one of the greatest performances I have seen.

  • Such a great album to find. The best.

  • For over 30 years I've loved this song and its subject. CSN&Y have changed the world with other songs about moral issues. This moral issue still persists though. Human greed is so strong. We still kill the cetaceans for our monetary gain. We still imprison them in Sea Worlds and ritzy hotels to entertain us. It makes me wonder who is the superior intellect here, we or they?

  • @purefield well my good, jaded hippy, let me answer your rhetorical question with another one;

which species is capable of capturing/eating the other? muahhahaa

  • @xaviermt1 Depends, are you in his tank?

  • "Under the bridges

    Over the foam

    Wind on the water

    Carry me home."

This part always makes me cry.

  • CSN and sometimes Y have all been voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. Crosby with the Byrds and CSN, Stills with Buffalo Springfield and CSN, Nash with The Hollies and CSN and Young for Buffalo Springfield and upcominig Crazy Horse. This includes the nominees for the 2010 class also.

  • I loved this song since I was a teenager in the 70's...48 now...sigh

  • Your not alone, that was our time ;)

  • Ditto - 47 here! I was just remembering that I had a whale t-shirt back then that I would wear to CSN concerts in hopes that they would play this.

  • this is amazing, I always loved the song, you have made a great vid of it :)

  • Thank you Chrissie! Always have loved this song which is so inspiring to get busy saving wildlife.

  • boycott the nfl , ido have what it takes, do you?

  • Michael Vick????

What on this little earth does that have to do with whales? Stay within the the thread, or for all of our benefit, start your own. And P.S,. I for one resent self-promtional postings.

  • Beautiful song. Beautiful message. Beautiful creatures. We're killing the whales off for our own selfish purposes and we think WE'RE the superior species?

  • I saw Graham Nash and David Crosby perform this song at the Berkeley Greek Amphitheater on a beautiful overcast day....about two minutes into the song as the electric piano was building up the sun broke through the clouds. It made for an incredible experience!

  • This song is so awesome. I can't help getting teary-eyed whenever I hear it. If this song does not grab your heart, you are either heartless or a Republican. Aren't they one in the same? Great photos and thanks for the good quality audio!

  • Can you express how you like the song without uttering an unfair generalization about Republicans? You think Republicans don't honor the beautiful whale as you do?

  • @kratebiker1 u my friend are stupid to compare whales being killed to republicans

  • @TyphoidExcel -- "@kratebiker1 u my friend are stupid to compare whales being killed to republicans"

    WRONG. Guess again.

  • @covenstead ....not so wrong my friend- but all politicians are guilty----

  • I love this song, and I love whales and dolphins. And I agree it is sad that they are slowly leaving our planet. They were here first.

  • Great pictures for a great song.

  • Does anyone know how I can download this song?

  • The song is from their "album wind on the water". That is Crosby and Nash's second album I saw csn do it live once.....it was amazing.....good luck with that

ps It is actually 2 songs one written by David and one by Graham....

  • @WiccaMisstress yo i know im about a year late for ur question about downloading to the last whale but u can use video to mp3 type it on google and then put the vid link in and it converts it for ya

  • yeah

it is just a beautiful song and its such ashame they r all going

  • @calisthebest Don't worry. One day we as a species will be gone forever and the earth will replenish itself again. Who knows we might even be missed.

  • @libraryquiet YES YOU ARE RIGHT. MAN SEEMS TO TAKE JOY IN KILLING THINGS

  • what a beautiful song. what a beautiful creature. but its sad that some people are making these creatures an endangered species. so sad, so sad...

  • @mannybalili crosby and nash did an instrumental theme for the cousteau society PBS series Oasis in Space which hasnt been in here yet who has it nobody knows
