  • This is definitely the ugliest game ever. Love it!

  • Gotta love the key noise.. "Yaaaaaah"

  • das hatten wir auf unserem schulrechner^^

wegen dem scheiss hab ich COMPUTER-AG gewählt^^

    DANKE!!!!

  • chyea!

  • IN FULL ADLIB/SB QUALITY SOUND!!! AWESOME

  • nice beat from 5:29 to 5:31. :)

  • This brings back soo many memories

  • Epic game.

  • Apparently Jills so cool that mario quit his job as superhero in jelousy.

  • so it is 20 years old game? i remember it was hot new game when i played it...

    ...damn i'm so old :(

  • I absolutely LOVED this game!!!! :D Totally awesome, and incredibly fun.

I remember going to the mall with my dad and standing on the sewer grates pretending I was Jill on one of the elevators :)

  • All of my childhood. ALL OF IT.

  • This was awesome.

I guess the inspiration for Tomb Raider. :P

  • Awww I love this game!

  • oh god the flashbacks...

  • oh man this was like, my first video game EVER

even though the sound she makes when she dies scared the SHIT out of me as a kidling

  • Glad I found this! I remember playing this on my first computer. Good times.

  • I so miss thos game

  • Old times...

  • ooh I totally remember this, loved this game :)

  • lol it said epic.

  • Wow... Haven't seen this in over 11 years... One of my first 4 video games...

  • Holy shit this game had sound!?

    Man i missed out.

  • I remember playing this game and it was HARD! I died all the time. :(

  • lol I remember this game, loved it.

Funny they're the ones who made Gears Of War

  • Tremendos recuerdos que me trae la amazona Jill.

  • my god this game was MAGICAL. screw ipad games

  • No idea why, but Jill's death scream used to scare the piss out of me...

  • Don't pick the dagger up just yet, jump off the platform to the next floating platform and then go right back and pick up the dagger. You'll have two daggers instead of one. But like I said, it's pretty pointless since it's at the end of the game, but it's worth a try :)

  • There's this bonus in the very first episode through the Boulders, I haven't seen it in most of the cheat pages I've gone to, it's a little pointless actually but interesting, but right at the end in the secret area, after climbing up the chain, turn right and hide Jill from view and then hit the dagger key. The dagger will float for a while before settling on the floor.

  • One of my fondest memories of this game is 'yeeeaaahhh!'

  • this and wolf3d and Claws was my childhood, pretty sweet if u ask me now when im 27 xD

  • @addekladde wolf3d FTW :D

  • Yeeaah!

  • is there anywhere where i can download this, something that works on...vista? i used to play it waaay back, i didnt even know english!

  • @IsllayGirls : You can download Jill of the Jungle at Dosgames.com, and you can use DosBox, which can be downloaded at DosBox.com in order to play it on any current operating system (including XP, Vista and Windows 7).

  • @sillygostly oh so thats why...ok thanx!

  • @sillygostly i downloaded and installed it...when i try to run the game it says i cant play it on full screen or something, i have the option to either ignore it or close the program, so i ignore it and then i only get sound :(

do you know whats going on?

  • @sillygostly : You need to run the game through DosBox. Drag the Jill1.exe file onto the Dosbox icon on your desktop and it should run automatically. Let me know how it works out for you.

  • OMG this game is OLD! Thanks for uploading!!!

  • I miss epic's old games. They kept me entertained for hours and I only had the shareware versions.

  • Thank you for this run-through. I was having a nostalgic moment and it was wonderful to have it fulfilled through your video.

  • Oh man, so many memories. One of my babysitters owned the game and I played it at her house a lot. I never made it very far.

  • lol when jill gets hit,it sounds like michael jackson doing is thing !oooooooooooooooo

  • Ahh man. My friend and I used to play this, wait for the boulders to come into sync with each other, when they would roll right next to each other, one almost right behind the other... and then be like "it looks like a rolling butt!! There's the rolling butt!! HAHA" Oh, to be eleven again.

  • *sniff* my first computer game...

  • I thought there was a secret apple or something in Jill Journeys Into The Forest in one of the trees, anybody else remember this?

  • This game is mad. I bet they were dropping acid when they made this!

  • Oh gosh, I remember this from looong ago. :D I couldn't remember what it was called, though. (Got here by looking up another game called Hocus Pocus.)

  • This game's awesome, but frustrating at the same time! (Most games in JotJ's time were, but I'd rather have a decent challenge in 2D, than to look at HD graphics while cakewalking my way through a game. I appreciate most remakes, though, as long as the game sticks to its roots.)

  • I used to play this so much when I was a kid, yet I don#t recall the music in the jungle-level to be so baller.

  • This reminds me of Xargon.

    Man, DOS games were awesome.

  • @IshidaTheQuincy : Xargon was heavily based on Jill, and I think that they share the same engine. =)

  • I wish there was a level editor, because this looks like the type of game that would! Does anyone know if there is one, or if I can create custom levels in Game Maker?

  • at 2:10 "YEEAAA" :D !!!!

  • when I was a kid I played this game, it had a "music mode" to play sounds with your keyboard, I played more at this, was awesome

  • This takes me back in time when I was about 6 or 7 years old and had a computer with Wndows 3.11 ... I loved this game. I wasn't able to understand what was written there, because in this time I just learned to read my own language (German) - nevertheless I was able to play this game. But now I have Windows 7 and can't even run it with DosBox -.- What a shame

  • Holy crapamoli this brings back memories. This and Vinyl Goddess from Mars. And then of course Jazz Jackrabbit and all that good stuff. EPIC WAS THE GREATEST up to and including the first Unreal Tournament.

  • honestly, i can open these videos just to hear the sounds while im doing work or something--it oddly relaxes me

theres just something about DOS games

  • honestly, i can open these videos just to hear the sounds while im doing work or something--it oddly relaxes me

theres just something about DOS games

  • I spent countless number of hours playing this when I was 12.

  • Man, I loved this game back in the day. Best sound effects ever.

  • i sometimes managed to make swords duplicate by shooting them often-does someone of you know this? a little error

  • @suntexistimo : Yeah, I've been aware of this for many years now. Unfortunately though, Jill can only stock 3 knives at any given time.

As far as I know, this little bug is present in all 3 Jill games.

  • @sillygostly thanks for the answer, these games had something special about them

  • is this the original music of the game?

'cause I played it,too, and the sounds were completely different

  • @IdiotBillie: Yes, this is indeed the original music. Players may experience a different pool of sound effects depending on the configurations that have been set as there are two different sound playback options: PC Speaker and Sound Blaster.

  • wwooow memories lol awesome. I remember being glued to this with the rest of my family in the other room.

  • I still have this! I kept an old 1995 DOS computer, on which I have classic games installed such as this, Operation Neptune, Commander Keen, Treasure Mountain, Major Stryker...the list goes on.

For those of you don't have such a computer, you can download DOSbox and play games like these onto your Vista, or Mac or whatever you have. Absolutely loved it when I first got it!

  • @puhyd : Oh, man! That takes me back. I loved those Learning Company games. I still have Operation Neptune on CD-ROM somewhere but I can't get it to work on modern PCs as it was a Win 3.11/95 optimised game.

    *Nothing* beats the classics. =D

  • @sillygostly I totally agree with you there dude! If you wanna play Operation Neptune then just download DOSbox.

  • WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

    OMG good times :)

  • i forgot how classic the sounds were in this game

  • yays. I remember that game

  • this game is classic i played it all the time when i was younger thumbs up

  • I always liked the music in this game

  • There was a code for this game. When u hold X, you got a shield which protects you against enemies, but not toward fire .. (enviromental hazards)

  • I work at a Windows Version of Jill (without Dosbox) a complete new construction but with the old tiles, animation and sounds.....

the other Projects are canceled (2006) , so i will make a new ....

  • I love the "YOW" noise when you got the key

  • @ftp44 i thought it said JILL!!!!!!

  • I was so good at this game when i was younger!

  • i will be the 100th person to comment on this video

  • I can take that honour away from you, you know... muahahahahaha. =P

  • Ahh I love the primitive music for this game, always liked the castle and forest levels had the best music.

  • Loved this game back in the day. I downloaded it recently, but it doesn't have the background music. I miss that :(

  • You will need a DOS emulator called DosBox to play DOS games with sound/music on modern PCs.

If you're still having trouble, I may make a short tutorial in the next few days to help you guys play the Jill series in its optimum state.

  • Used to play this game a little on free periods in my high school.

  • when you get a key..."girl" ;)

and her bum going up the vines ...mm mm

i like it after eating all those apples which she thinks are healthy she ends up smoking mushrooms and realises tripping is much better and takes her to a higher reality...groovy

  • 2:10 "Yeeeaaaaah!"

  • i used to *LOVE* transforming into that firebird :)

  • It's a phoenix. ;)

  • lol, that's right, never thought of it like that :) anyway that game was EPIC ;)

  • @sillygostly

Those bird/butterflies made such cute noises, I always felt guilty when I killed them.

  • @DireDowns

Birds turn me into putty as well, but in video game land, no animal shall be spared by me. =P

  • me to... i loved the transforming into the fish :P

  • i like the frog :) ribbit

  • When you get a key:Sounds so like a homoerotic Yeah

When you get hit: Holy shit, you hit MJ!

  • hehe xD

  • gah, this game brings back good memories..... wish I still had it! IT WAS SO FUN!!!!

  • The music was composed with a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer.

  • I was wondering if it was DX-7.

  • Yes! Indeed, it was a DX7! I recognize the classic sounds as the tubular bells, vibraphone, bass, synth lead, etc.

    Do you recognize these sounds?

  • The vibraphone/ tubular bells sound is a bit like the same waveform as the well-known (and well used!) DX-7 FM Piano. DX-7 generally has a crystalline sound to the chimes. I have a Yamaha soundcard and can emulate these sounds easily via MIDI to the MIDI versions of the songs from Jill of the Jungle.

  • why the sound is like this because i have dos and it doesnt sound good like this

  • depends of the midi card\emulation driver

  • I also loved this as a kid.

Looking back I just noticed: Crazy Train in the forest.

My next watch: Epic Pinball. Maybe some Kings Quest after that. "Hoo! Don't go in there."

  • So many memories...

  • Man, this takes me back...

btw, what song was that in the beginning if u dont mind me asking?

  • The G rating or the main menu music?

  • g rating

  • you can create free knifes by pressing left and right quickly and shooting

  • In my experience, you only need to fire repeatedly. There's no need to press left or right.

It should also be noted that Jill can only carry a maximum of three knives.

  • Haha...it's one thing to watch it for the memories, but the sound effects....nostalgia at it's most intense!

  • oh nostalga

  • I remember the forest levels all too well...

  • the memories! they're all rushing into my brain!

  • i had a 286 amstrad so the music is different here. why?

  • This is my jam here at 6:08. I was 7 when this came out

  • I remember playing this game using only pc sound lol

  • 2:11 <---- go here for good times

  • wow i remember playing this and jazz jackrabbit a long time ago. it was so fun! i hope i can still find my jazz jackrabbit cd

  • I can't remember what PC I used to play this on, but it was so damn fun! I played it during my sixth grade year in 1994 and came remember getting to level 15.

Such an addictive and simple DOS platformer, I'd kill for it's emulator!

  • this game is a legend.if you want the sound track track to be even cooler that this try playing it trough PC speaker.

  • Oh fuck, I miss this game.

  • Thank You Very much I was looking for this game for maybe ten years really have to thank you alot for showing this

  • This game deserves a remake, because it's a classic, but the question is, will it? Oh, and great music, especially the Castle.

  • I love the music to this game! and the sound effects are ... strange...

  • I played this game in Like, Year 2 at school, it was über Awesome!

  • Correction, it *IS* STILL awesome. ;)

  • Oh! I used to play this game with my sisters when we were a kid. of course, I suck then, so I never get far through the game :p

  • Has anyone else ever wondered what Jill needed all the apples for? :D

  • Yeah, to get bonus points.

  • and health by the looks if it it hasnt done hre body any harm

later she smokes mushrooms and its better for her

  • This game, Cosmo, Commander Keen, Xargon, Hocus Pocus were all my facorites. Does anyone know the name of the game with a kid and his slingshot with a sort of scary/ haunted house theme?

  • You mean Monster Bash?

  • thats the one! thank you

  • Thats the one! thank you

  • You're welcome. :)

  • wow socdude you and I seem to have lived the same childhood

I even used to play monster bash but I only had the demo and didnt remember the full name of the game until I googled it years after I last played it.

  • I like commander keen more, because the grid-based movement annoyed me. :o)

  • yes!!! i loved this game!!

  • I loved this game so much when i was little,

I even got through all of the games too. Haha, it makes you think of how much better older games are than newer ones.

  • Oh man, I played this game alot when I was small. Had an awesome soundtrack. I downloaded it recently, but the music doesn't work? Can you help me?

  • hey hey good times! we played this in blac kand white on our old old laptop which was basically the same siza as a computer now... this and crystal caves and commander keen.

  • LOL I used to love playing the game in CGA as well. No idea why. :P Hated the EGA graphics though. :D

  • Wow, I played this game when I was six! Thanks for the memories!

  • classics man u gotta love them

  • I love this game, I'm trying to get it to work again. I remember it from when I was about 3 years old, I can't quite remember whether I played it or I watched someone else, but I'd just love to see it working again.

  • I've always thought this one was the easiest of the series. It took me 40 minutes to beat this entire game after not playing it for eight years.

  • Surreal sound effects and levels, wonderful music and weird message (if you pick certain apples iirc). A very trippy and enjoyable game.
